As much as I can understand charging for some content in DG I really wish this tournament wasn't behind a paywall -- this is the most insane gallery I think on any coverage and this duel between Mcbeth and Eagle deserves to be seen by as many people as humanly possible with full post-round coverage. I get charging for live feeds but also preventing other companies from doing next day coverage is kinda shitty.
Especially if little to no info is told outside of the live coverage. It took many hours to learn who won, and i personally heard it from a fan, not from an official source.
Every time these guys have control of the content, EVERYONE has these same comments... and yet they NEVER listen... it's because they have exclusive rights to the filming - they want the same situation as the soccer/boxing/golf where it's all decided in advance and the viewers are just late to the party and have to accept what they get.
@@sfincione2000 nope, not everyone, grow up
Despite the growth this is still a niche sport that causes 95% of people to return a blank stare if you mention it. DGPT are trying to treat it like a cash cow when it's barely a day old calf. They'll kill it before it starts by hiding tournaments like this.

This McBattle will go down as one of the great ones in disc golf history!
well said
One of the two best ever and mcBeast went down in both of them. Legend stuff (not sarcastic).
@@herpderp969 haters gonna hate. It’s sad people like you have no respect.

What a score difference to third place! Just insane. I think Eagle and Paul pushed themselves to their limits. It must have been an epic battle. Nice words from Eagle in the end that both kinda earned the first place. Congratulations Eagle!! :)
RIGHT! Like I said in my comment, both of them won. Because it was a. 2-man field from start to finish! Their combined score was almost TWICE AS MUCH AS THE NEXT 4 OPPONENTS COMBINED! 2 guys almost shot better than 4 guys combined! Absolutely insane! If those 2 can bring this into worlds, we'll have another big battle again!
They said the difference is new record for a Major!
Both Mc's made new record for 4 round total result at the Beast. At same time, 3rd was KJ with 25 under. This would have been position 5th to 10th in some previous EO's. There have usually been at least 3-4 players with 30 under or better.
Underrated performance from Eagle, arguably the best forehand player on the planet won a major without throwing one. Eagle beat Calvin by 24 strokes. Beat Ricky by 26. Beat Simon by 29, beat Conrad, Proctor, and Barsby by 30. Beat Jerm by 33. Beat Colton by 45. Beat Matt Bell by 46. Beat Hannum by 47. Beat Philo by 53...
Paul McBeth averaged 1072 rating in this tournament and did not win this major. Just wow. Incredible tournament and world's best (biggest) gallery. EDIT: 5500 (estimated) people watched the final round live in Nokia Finland.
That’s insane to think about really. You have to be at the summit of the disc golf game in order to win majors
Crazy, the guy plays at incredible levels and doesn't win. He really gets the best out of the competition
Absolutely sick isn’t it?
Paul even has the greatest 2nd places finishes ever, truly GOAT. Eagle beat Calvin by 24 strokes. Beat Ricky by 26. Beat Simon by 29, beat Conrad, Proctor, and Barsby by 30. Beat Jerm by 33. Beat Colton by 45. Beat Matt Bell by 46. Beat Hannum by 47. Beat Philo by 53.
@@JEFFERSONdiscgolf Your sentiment holds true, but just a note that several of those players didn't make the cut for the final day so it's a bit unfair to compare Paul's 4-round score to their 3-round scores.
The way these two completely gapped the field is absolutely insane.
Every other player could have played 2 more rounds and they still would have won. Absolutely unbelievable.
At the end of the video where Eagle is throwing discs to the audience you can see that on the very last throw on the video he actually aims at something. He threw that into the basket of the 18th hole. Probably around 50 feet or so. You can even see a mini celebration from Eagle after making the shot. :)
Were you there to see it?
@@GreatWalker yeah. I live pretty close to Nokia. 👍
Well done Finland, the crowds look massive and seem very respectful also. Disc Golf really becoming the national sport of the Fins 🙏
Great support from Finland to host this tournament! Now I want to go there!
The battle between eagle and Paul was the second most epic battle I’ve seen in disc golf history, right behind the battle between nikko locastro and the pdga official
Lil' Nikki has been bringing the sport down for a long time already. It's awful that no one in the USA ever called him out before his 'shenanigans' got so out of hand. He made a shame of being a so-called ambassador and I only hope I get the chance to have a stare down with him one day.
One of the greatest tournaments I've ever watched and a great battle at the highest level! This should have been available for everyone to watch on RUclips!
Congratulations to Eagle, what a comeback after his injury!
the PDGA are ruining it with this kind of coverage. They might make a few thousand dollars and will never be able to cover their costs. Forcing the post production availability to 30 days seems arbitrary and super dumb. Especially in light of just how awful most of the coverage is. I know Nate Doss is a former champ, but that dude is just awful at commentary. Most disc golf commentary is terrible and feels like its just two dudes that happen to play disc golf in front of a microphone. Its high time for disc golf to be more legit and the PDGA isn't doing it.
I feel really bad for Paul, but he’s a true professional of the sport and will come back stronger on the next one. Eagle deserves this win 100% he’s such a humble great guy, you just love to see it happen folks.
What an epic battle. Leaders pulling 15-16 strokes away from 3rd place.
Why would you put up a highlight for them every hole and not just have it post produced? You know you would get more people interested and excited for disc golf ? Whatevs , good win eagle
I hope Jomez flies over next year to film!!
Would also have loved to watch this round live!
I might be wrong but I thought I heard that the coverage was going to be divided up between the various crews like Jomez, CCDG, Gatekeeper, etc. I might also be wrong in thinking that the DGN is what we used to call SpinTV... because all the mistakes seem like the ones SpinTV used to make on a regular basis. No understanding of their market and little to no understanding of how to make money in this lucrative streaming world we live in. I'm all for paying for live content (I do) but once it's over, just publish it to the public... I won't start crying about it, I've paid to see it live. Maybe do some polls and ask your audience what the want instead of making these decisions in the echo chamber of your little closed group.
@@sfincione2000 Yep, PDGA slowly turning into the PGA with it's licensing and control.
Jomez is only allowed to cover certain events. PDGA are just greedy turds. The coverage by PDGA is inferior in every way, and they just keep making up reasons to put more and more paywalls up.
@@gregpenismith1248 Your comment is hidden
@@asmith9554 You know, maybe Jomez could expand and start a satellite company in Europe to cover all the European events. We're sadly under-reported over here. If disc golf continues to grow like it is growing, then they'd be ahead of the curve doing that. It would be awesome and I think economically viable too.
I know eagle won by 1 stroke... but both these guys won in my eyes. Because it was a 2-man match the entire 4 rounds! Nobody had a chance this entire event. These 2 ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISHED THIS COURSE this year!!! Congrats to Eagle for taking the top, but a major CONGRATS to both of those guys for crushing it this weekend!
What an absolute battle between Eagle and Paul. Crazy stuff.
This will go down as one of the greatest wins ever in my opinion. Not just the fact that McBeth and McMahon put on such a spectacle and were SO far away from the rest of the players, but the simple fact that Eagle didn’t throw a single forehand shot the entire tournament. Unbelievable and really speaks volumes about how good Eagle really is! All respect to McBeth on his amazing performance as well.
Let’s go! What a tournament. Wish we could see the whole thing with the Jomez touch. Maybe they can get the footage and put something out later?
I agree where can we watch? I haven't been able to find anything?
@@theambiguoustruth8167 I don't think they'll have jomez, it's a disc golf network monopoly on this one trying to get pay-per-views.
The European Open owns the media rights to their event. They had a specific plan in mind on how to manage those media rights. When we (DGN) bought the rights, a certain plan for coverage was agreed to, which is what was executed at this event. Post production with commentary was recorded and released next day to those who bought PPV. It’s exclusive for them for 30 days, and then it will hit our YT channel. Look out for it in Late August!
@@DiscGolfProTour thanks for this update! I will keep an eye out for the release!
@@DiscGolfProTour will do disk golf needs to be seen by the public not sold to the few loyal disk golf fans who already spend plenty of money in the sport. The sport is growing fast. The more exposure the better!
Huge mistake on DGN for not releasing post round coverage. Very disappointing
They will...like in a month or two
Stop paying? The people paying are the ones encouraging this behavior
That was the best 11 minutes of disc golf highlights that I have ever seen.
I remember when there was good coverage of this tournament and anyone that went on RUclips could discover it and watch it. Then the DGPT took over and said they wanted to “grow the sport” and introduce more people to disc golf…. and made it way less accessible. When I started playing I stumbled across footage of this tournament and got so excited. Huge galleries. Competitors from all over the world. It really made disc golf seem like a big deal. It looked like a PGA event. Now there is absolutely no way someone could discover disc golf by finding coverage of this tournament on RUclips like I did. The only way to see it now is to know about it ahead of time and pay the DGPT money and then pay them again a second time to actually watch the tournament. How is this growing the sport? How is this introducing new people to disc golf?
As a casual viewer I’d rather watch highlights. Easier to digest. And the dreaded paywall is barely anything. If you’re that interested in the sport 12 bucks a month is affordable. Producing content and running tournaments isn’t free. Revenue from the subscriptions goes towards making the tourneys run better, higher payouts for players, etc etc. Please everyone I beg of you, stop complaining and use that energy instead to go throw your discs.
@@seanclarke8255 you know they could post live coverage, edited coverage AND highlight videos right? Plenty of other RUclips channels do. The paywall isn’t that much money. You’re right. But that’s not the point. And a lot of us don’t have the time to watch live coverage. The point is the DGPT says they want to introduce new people to disc golf. If the coverage is all hidden behind paywalls and only people that already play disc golf know about it, there is no way for someone that’s never heard of disc golf to just randomly discover it on RUclips like I did years ago. The DGPT COULD do what the Masters Cup started doing when the pandemic started to limit crowd size. If they need more money do what the Masters Cup and the PGA have done for years. Charge spectators admission fees. Simple. This way people that are already into the sport will gladly pay to be there and people that have never heard of disc golf before can stumble across it on RUclips for free. Like I did. And now I pay to go to the Masters Cup and think it’s worth it. They raise the money from spectators that come to see it in person and use that money for operating expenses and larger payouts for the players and actually grow the sport like they say they want to. The dumbest part is that they could still make money off tournament coverage even if they posted it for free like in years past. Most RUclipsrs don’t make their money by hiding their videos from the public and charging people to see them. They make their money with ad revenue and views by getting as many people to see them and stumble across them as possible.
@@seanclarke8255 I think the tournament ran just fine before the DGPT started charging people membership fees and then more fees on top of that to actually see the coverage on RUclips. How did they do it back then?
I just wrote a very similar comment. I completely agree. What a waste of an opportunity of one of the most epic battles in the sport's history.
@@lanceb7556 y'all ever think about how much they can improve the sport/coverage using the revenue generated from said paywall?
Eagle is back!!! Unbelievable feat! We just witnessed one of the greatest tournaments ever played!! Paul is a beast and hes always at the top.. nothing but respect for a true legend in the sport! Wow!
It's not about the cost of the subscription, it's the fact that most people have 45 minutes to watch something outside of normal life and not 4 hours.

Again, the DGN makes a balls of it. Hey guys, here's the highlights instead of uploading the final round itself. I paid to watch it live but I just think the way the media is being released is awful. Haven't they copped on yet to how to make money using youtube?
Congratulations Eagle!
Hard fought battle with Paul and you running away from the field with both of your amazing play.
Stay healthy and well.🖖🏼
Congratulations, Eagle!!!! 🏆 After all he's been through, I can only imagine how sweet this one tastes.
Same guy that lost the Aussie open on the final hole now has ice in his veins
Crazy win 🏆 Congratulations Eagle and Paul. What you have both done for the sport is amazing
I know mcbeth is a legend but eagle got me wayyyy more engaged with the sport after i ran into him on a course out in colorado. I was a beginner at the time and really didnt have much of a clue who he was. Hes a great kid.
This was insane to watch, even just through these highlights. Disc golf is huge in Europe, eh? That gallery looked absolutely amazing!!!
Thanks for providing us an overview of something we once got full coverage of for free.
Goosebumps! I also really appreciated Eagle's post-win interview.
That gallery is insane.
Thats finland for ya. Its a really popular sport in here.
@@mattiloponen92 not only that, the players, even the kids are all dressed sporty and they take it serious… over here you have mostly a bunch of beer drinkers that don’t give a damn. I get that too I guess. It’s all about fun. But Finland is on another level. Huge respect
It was a privilege to see this final live at the field. What a day!
Really crazy. These guys deserved their exclusive highlights. Outshining everyone else.
Would have been easier for the editors to just release every shot from the McBeasts and call it a day. The fact that we see approaches without the putts and have to figure out 2 holes later based on the scoreboard that was sometimes there, makes this video just as frustrating.
I get it, Paul goes OB on 17 and that’s the story. But do they have a rule that the footage of play can only be 10 mins long? Make it 15-20 (before the end part) and people are happy again
I had not kept track of how the tournament was going so starting this video and seeing them 12 strokes ahead I just though "Am I misunderstanding something here?". That's insane and what a crazy way for Eagle to return
An echo of the Ricky v Paul days, but now it's Eagle. Never wanted both players to win so much for any tournament! It's a win-win lose-lose situation. Great to have Eagle back in such dramatic fashion.
THE CROWDS. WOW.
Too bad I don’t spend enough money with disc golf to get to watch it.... seems like it was an EPIC tournament. Keep it a secret instead, that’ll help the sport grow. You guys OWE IT to Jomez in my eyes

Sad about the paywall, obviously there are some things to work through on this front if your TRUE intent is to grow the sport. About the results **SPOILER** What a fantastic tournament, I would never in a thousand years imagine Eagle coming out this strong and to see him hold on to his lead for the entirety of the tournament is amazing. I really hope he is keeping his injury at the forefront of his mind and that this endeavor wasn't a hit against his recovery. He might not be the most fun to watch in terms of personality on the course but you can tell he is focused and he only has winning on his mind, it's been fun watching his personal developmental as a player and watch his frustration grow towards humility and his insecurities grow to a relaxed rational viewpoint. Just wish the best for you in the future Eagle and if you're reading this, keep on dreaming ;)
Spoiler? Lol no

What an absolutely insane round of golf and such an incredible gallery!
Is any of this tournament covered by a media company that’s gonna be available post tournament? No GK, no Jomez?
Would have loved to see jomez commentary. Awesome battle glad to see Eagle come out on top.
Great to see Simon come back this year and now Eagle. To win without throwing a single forehand is not something I could have imagined.
Would have been awesome to watch this tournament. But I will never support double pay walls.
Keep getting that short term cash and sacrificing long term growth. I'm sure that will work out great.
why is it uploaded with 480p footage? :( all the highlight vids
With all of the pay walls they've put up, you would think their content would be a bit higher quality wouldn't you 🤣
Welcome to the Eagle and Paul show. Epic battle
We are witnessing the greatest disc golfers at the highest level. These guys put on a show for the ages. Unfortunately who ever made the first mistake towards the end was going to lose the tournament. Congrats to McMahon for the win and coming back from his injury, really impressive! I absolutely loved the coverage. Money well spent
Nice highlights! I'd love to see more of the shots that cost Eagle or Paul strokes when they gave them up though, instead of only seeing the good drives/putts
This was the most enjoyable tournament I’ve ever watched. I feel like it started the day Eagle stormed off the field months back and ended Sunday, with a sub plot of dethroning Paul, or is the injury the sub plot! Amazing story! Life is good
Eagle is my favorite 😊😊 so happy he won. gg to Paul, he was in lockstep.

Is that some kind of typo or did Eagle and McBeast separate from the rest of the field by 16 shots?
Good thing about the loss of his sidearm is: we see those nice turnover lines and he was sooo good at them. Man! First Simon now Eagle
Great coverage of these two battling it out. What awesome shots! So glad you made this video.
Why does DGPT coverage look like it was recorded on a toaster.
Pay walls are why Jomez is 3 times as popular lmao
Eagle giving the discs away at the end got me emotional for some reason. That's great for the sport!!
Someone tell the DGPT that most RUclipsrs make their money from ad revenue and views by getting as many people as possible to see and watch their videos. Not by hiding them and charging people money to watch them.
Why are you screencapping the livestream instead of recording at the same time and uploading that?

He had some ridiculous luck
Idk about other spectators on here, but imo, to average a 1072 rating through 4 rounds, and still come in second place... to beat 99% of the field so badly, and still only come in second place would be suck a kick to the face. These pros are so good!
Mcplayers were playing on completly other level, congrats to both.
Congratulations to Eagle, can’t imagine what it must mean to win this event despite his injury and in the face of McBeast.
“And in the face of Mc Beast” have a little respect. Both players were awesome in the face of true professional competition.
@@SuperDave44Mag psh who's discrespecting? I never said that they weren't both great in the face of competition. If anything I illustrated McBeth's prowess by noting that this win for Eagle is that much sweeter because it was against him. Think before you type, kiddo.
Here’s an idea DGPT. Charge spectators money to attend the tournament. They are already interested in disc golf and will pay to be there. Use some of that money to pay Jomez to do their thing. Use the rest to cover expenses and add some to the players payouts if there is any left over. Post the coverage for free like it’s always been in the past. Then people that don’t play can discover it on RUclips like I did years ago and you can make money AND actually grow the sport like you say you want to.
Charging spectators in a tournament like this aint so simple. First of all fencing a lay out like this is almost impossible. Not to mention how many of these spectators are families just coming there because its free to watch. Id say there wouldnt be even half this much people there with entry fees.
@@syvakaivo8300 where there’s a will there’s a way. They did it at the Masters Cup and at least one or two other tournaments so far. The Masters Cup is in the woods too. Not fenced off. People can just walk up to the course from the park on hiking trails. They give everyone that pays a lanyard with a big badge to wear around their neck. Families officials and caddies are given badges too. Then if they see you and you don’t have a badge you’re out. Pretty simple. If people are willing to pay to see tournaments here in the states I see no reason why they wouldn’t pay to see the European Open. Thousands of people go to this tournament every year. Even if only half of them showed up that would still be thousands of people. At $100-150 (what people are paying here for all three days) that’s still probably more than they made charging people to watch it live on RUclips. If they’re serious about introducing new people to disc golf the content needs to be public. Not hidden from the public.
@@craigcampbell1843 Completely agree that it should be free to view in live streams and on the spot aswell. At some point ppw is going to be valid, but this sport isnt there yet in my opinion. I was there yesterday and last year (even got to play the layout right after the tournament was finished). The badge system could work but not in this layout. Its almost in downtown, there is way too much pedestrian and vehicle traffic going through layout to make it work in Nokia. Maybe in Tampere Disc Golf Center which isnt too far away and has a better course imho. All in all i think the sport isnt there yet and with some better sidesale planning i think they could make much much more money. Yesterday it was really hot and you could have made tons of money only with some drink stands spread around the holes.
@@syvakaivo8300 yeah. The DGPT is really blowing it in my opinion. They say they want to introduce new people to the sport, and they need to in order to be successful, but they are doing the opposite by not posting content for anyone except people that are already fans. No drinks for sale on the course is hard to believe too. That would be a good idea.
@@syvakaivo8300the Masters Cup is in a busy public park. They just close that part of the park to the public on those days. They post flyers around the park ahead of time saying it will be closed and on the days of the tournament they have people at each path or entrance turning people away before they could enter the course. Some people were upset but they all got over it. It’s only 3 days a year.
YAAAAA! Highlights before the coverage awesome said no one
Just with the high lights...thanks man.
Charging for livestreams will never get eyes from outside the sport. I understand the opportunity to capitalize off of the growth but there has to be a fair medium. Great coverage either way.
