Love this! I see you had a black flag-type door mirror fitted when restoring this lovely example. I take it that was the colour specified by the original customer. If I recall correctly, there was quite a lot of variation with door mirrors back in the day - with cars often delivered to certain markets (like yours in Australia) by the Factory without any mirrors at all! Dealers, then fitted their own (often VW) door mirrors to cars before being delivered to customers. Sounds like an odd practice, even back then. Does anyone know the motivation or reason for doing that (assuming my recollection is correct) … ?
