You look like the guy to speak to with hard won experience on Defenders. Thank you Eva zu Beck for including this channel in your post!
Yes, we certainly have paid the school fees!
Just completed watching all your west africa series videos, awesome very few overland videos are there, you did with whole family 🙌. Love from India 🇮🇳
Thanks so much!
Good job
Thanks
Congrats guys, so happy for you, re-built gearbox and new drone...what could be better than this...best of luck...and regards from UAE.
Hi Family. I am new to your channel coming from Eve Zu Beck channel talking about your family etc. I would love to see a video from you guys where you talk about why and how you are doing this. Also maybe how you sustain yourself financially for so many years on the road. All the best, Michael
Hi Michael, welcome! That's a great idea, I will get that going for you.
Hi all, I too found you from Eve zu Beck. I'm from Mossel Bay and it's a real pity I did not know about you when you stayed here. I also know Hein as he frequently comes to my 4x4 shop. My family and I have for a long time discussed the possibility of a gap year or two to travel abroad. I have to agree with Michael that a How-to video would be great. Save travels.. Theuns Vorster..
they love to "yap yap " a lot lol
Yeah, we only figured this out once we had adopted him BUT we definitely don't regret adopting him
I like watching repairs lol
Especially when Luisa's doing the repairs! She always makes it interesting hahah -Keelan
Are you all still overlanding and going to Asia?
We're currently driving up to Tuktoyaktuk as we're unable to travel through Russia at the moment. Once things settle down, we will continue or trip to the East
@@luisabell4225 great to here I’ve started following you on Facebook notice you’ve not got the kids Mutha I can understand leaving the kids behind but leaving the Land Rover that’s just cruel 🤣
@@mclagan2678 Hahaha, yea they wanted some normality!
Who is the recommended gearbox refurb person in Johannesburg? I need to have a MT82 Defender Puma box refurbished
thegearboxcompany.co.za/ Sean O'Reilly was the boss there but he has since passed
Hi guys, my partner and I just started following your channel and adventures. We too are planning an Africa trip in a few years and we wanted to ask your opinion on a couple of things to do with the vehicle if that’s ok. How do you think it would go with a 2 wheel drive van as opposed to the Defender you had? We are thinking of buying a van large enough to stand up in, aware that we will have to lift the suspension and get heavy duty tyres but thought we may still run into issues with this set up on the roads in Africa - perhaps you can give us some insight with this? Do you have any other suggestions or tips for the vehicle and needs for that trip? Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
Hello Bianca. You certainly can travel Africa with a 2x4 van. Dot Bekker crossed West Africa in such a van and you can quite easily drive from Cape Town to London with a Mini Cooper if you take the East Coast. But, you will not be able to visit many of the true gems of the continent as 4x4 is essential to get far from the beaten track. It is all about your priorities and style of travel. Have a look at our book Travel the Planet Overland for all we know about overland travel. Our website is www.a2aexpedition.com
