Mick, great honest review. I have a few Duofolds, vintage & modern, not the latest iteration where the cap band is a single large band. They all have wonderful nibs. Enjoyable writers. I'm eyeing a Parker Duofold Special Edition Duofold World Memorial Black International, they used decommissioned Soviet & American nuclear missiles for cap finial.

I was not happy with my fine nib, so I got Mike Masuyama to grind it to a RNCI (round nosed cursive italic), and now it is one of my favorite pens to use.

I like mine very much. They are normally too expensive but, like you, I was able to purchase mine at the low end of their price range. It's just a classy, comfortable pen. I don't mind the converter filling system. It's actually a lot easier to clean out.

At last, I’ve found a pen reviewer who is:
    1. Left handed
    2. Writes under the line, as I do!
I feel a lot of the right handed reviews don’t apply to me, as the way they write is different to us left handers, esp those who write under the line, so a pen that is smooth to a right handed, can be awful to a leftie. Thanks for the review, and I’m hoping you have more reviews on here. Have you thoughts on the Sonnet? Seems a lovely writer, and one of the only I’ve been happy with.

I agree with you. For a pen of that price, I want a piston filler, not a converter.

I wonder how many people have memories associated with their Centennials? I picked mine up a fair # of years ago (like you, a self-gift for a pretty good achievement). I purchased the "Greenwich" model, a matte black with a herringbone pattern in a nice presentation box linked to Greenwich Mean Time. It rotates in and out of storage but is always in the collection.

I definitely think it is one of those pens that people gift themselves or others for special occasions.

They are very nice but pricey pens. I have the Duofold Centennial Blue Chevron with a fine nib and really like it. These versions are all metal so weigh more, and although very comfortable I imagine yours would be better over long writing sessions. Mine is an excellent writer but the nib sings, and it's a trait I've actually grown fond of. I have thought of getting a resin version, and I think I'd go for one like yours, but just checking eBay shows prices all over the place. Glad to hear you are enjoying your pen.

CHRIS LJ the Blue Chevron is beautiful! How much does it weigh? Where is the pen balanced?

I just weighed it and dry it comes in at 52.15 grams. When capped the balance is at the cap band, and uncapped it is about right in the middle between the end of the body and the end of the grip section. I love the feel of the surface texture, and for some reason it makes me think of playing with garter snakes when I was a kid, which is kinda weird.

CHRIS LJ Double the weight! That’s quite substantial. It’s a super classy looking pen! A little sing on the nib can be very nice too.

Yes, I like the blue, but the black or burgundy versions are very attractive also. And of course you would appreciate a nib that sings, lol. 🎵😉

Thank you for this review. This pen is blah to me and not on my list but I am sure I have some on my list that wouldn't impress you either. It is very nice and I learned something about it fron you.

Liked your video for your nice presentation and honesty in your review. Personally, I thought a lot about this pen and the big red that is currently an attractive US$250 on ebay but honestly I think it is over-rated and basking on past glory. I think other brands have nicer pens like the Pelikan M600 or M800 which can be had for similar pricing, and with more interesting finishes and gold nibs that are a bit more flexible than this one. Cheers mate.

Do you have Robert Oster Aqua to review? I'm looking for a turquoise (more blue than green) than shades to a teal (more green than blue) and i pray this would be close. God bless you, Mike!
