I am a proud owner of Duster 85ps 2016 model. My friend owns a XUV 500 2017 model. He had to change clutch plate at just 30000 km. This is the most well engineered car in indian market. I bet no car under 20L gives comfort like duster on Indian roads. And further every car has niggles. This interview was mostly pointing towards highlighting problems.....

I totally disagree in some points with this user..I am using my Duster 85PS since 2016 and have driven 130000 KM already..I haven't changed any Clutch Plate/pressure plate till now...no A.C. repairing..even I always getting the 19/20 KMPL regularly after using it in city and highway 50:50 with normal diesel..I changed my company tyres at 100000 KM ..and I have Upsized it to Yokohama Geolander...I am 5.10" guy and have no issue in ingress and egress with this vehicle..I have test driven many costlier vehicle than this but never experienced the drive & handling like my Duster 85 PS
Thanks Biswajit for the detailed input. I am sure you will agree that each owner will have different experiences. If I may ask, will it be possible to help us with the review of your duster.
Totally wrong interview. I have used duster for 7 yrs. It is the best car and completed around 175600km. Apne yeh nahi bataya ki 110ps ki yeh hai. App 27000 pe clutch part change karwa liye that means ki driving bekar hai. Koi bhi gaadi ho 70000 pe change ho ti hai. Parts agar combined hai toh pure change hoge. Wat rubbish interview. Build quality iski aachi hai. Idiot interviewer
Morning Sahil - A big thanks for your contra point. Thought I will share mine too, definitely not with the objective of winning this debate as we would love as many contra points as possible which will ultimately help our community members take an informed decision, the sole purpose of this channel's existence. here are my two-bits; First of all not all car owners are car geeks like you, therefore Build Quality aachi hain is how they will explain that aspect. If you could help, maybe you could share quantifiable factors which I can use for my future interviews. In absence of manufacturer sharing details on sheet metal, plastic material, etc etc, most answers are only going to be qualitative. 2nd point - Clutch & Pressure plates or for that matter the entire clutch assembly, it is not mandatory to change clutch plates as 60-70K Km and yes you are right that it depends on driving style, more the override, faster or earlier the change required. Just to prove my point, here are my past cars in which I never touched the Clutch assembly even past the pre - defined Km benchmark, M800 - 78000 Kms in 8 years, Baleno (sedan version) - 66000, 7 years, Honda City - 76000 since running strong after 10 years. Plus even his case the clutch and pressure plates got changed post 60K Km Last but not the least each car owner is sharing his/her ownership experience and I am sure you will agree, no two experience could be the same. So just because his ownership experience does not match with yours does not imply he is wrong and you are right or vice-a-versa
@@ecardlr , I have a Ford Fiesta tdci 2010; 150000 km driven already. I haven't done any major mechanical replacements till date. No clutch problem, no pressure cylinder problem as such. Routinely, a few electrical parts have been changed on some occasions. Besides, front dampeners were changed at around 110000 km. Injectors had to be replaced because of the infamous continental manufacturing defect. I switched to Siemens from an older car at around 140000 kms and the engine sound is healthier than before. I have taken this Sedan to Zojila Pass and came back with the suspension set up intact, while heavy road construction was going on in September 2017 and there were rocks and rounded stones all over the surface. What I wanted to say is that what your car returns you depends upon how you treat it.
Seems both the interviewer nor the interviewee have no idea about how to judge a car. Those who know how to drive the Duster has changed brake pads only after 40-50000kms and clutch only after 80-90, some even after 1.3L kms.
160 k km chalne ke baad what do u expect...i am driving single handedly duster 85 ps..no mileage issue. No major service issue..all vehicles hv sm problems..
It is good to see a long term review. Thanks, since you have given me an idea. I am also planning to make a long term review video. I own a Renault Duster AWD which would 5 yrs old in a couple of months. 140000 kms done already. I fully agree to most of the points mentioned in your review as a long term renault duster owner.

Hello sir, I bought a used Terrano from second hand.... I'm listening a mild hissing/whistling noise from the steering pump while turning, is it normal?
This review is the answer to everyone who has been complaining about the Only Positives/ Biased reviews presented by ecardlr. I never felt the same as those who complained & have always been satisfied by this channels content. Thankyou Once Again ecardlr Team. Great Job as always.
Best ownership review till date in youtube in all other ownership review they keep telling about the features which make them car review not an owner ship review in this video they clarify about about maintenance and owner ship cost which is true they are not showing backside view frontside view what we got they are telling ownership review spare parts cost and practical problems
Excellent long term review. Owner is quite knowledgeable since he has driven a lot and detailed oriented. Very capable car especially for Indian road conditions.
Morning Nikhilesh - Duster had its share of +ve & -ves. When I was in the market to buy a compact SUV, Duster was one of the choice, what went against it for me was the Hydraulic Power Steering and its weight which made city driving quite tiring.
ecardlr Hi! So, which compact SUV did you bought eventually? I’m 6’3” and looking for a compact petrol SUV. Drove the new Duster which accommodates me and 3 passengers easily on back seat. My other option was Ecosport but rear space is less and can accommodate only 2 adults comfortably. My drive would be 70% in Bangalore city and 30% on highways. Thank you in anticipation. 😊
Morning Ramesh - I bought the Ecosport diesel finally, as the 1 Litre turbo petrol did not give me enough kick and the petrol was just another car. Ecosport does not have rear seat space, but with your height you will not feel claustrophobic. If its going to 2+2 mostly then Ecosport. If Budget can be extended, then one could look at the Seltos. Scorpio seems to be the right fit, but then that SUV hasn't kept pace with the ambitions of urban Indian, in terms of fit and finish. It would help if you could share some more details from your new compact SUV, then the answer could be more specific.
ecardlr Thank you for replying. My usage mostly will be 2+ 2 (but don’t want to compromise when a 3rd person drops in). As mentioned my 70% of drive will be within Bangalore. And since my monthly usage would be around 1200km, diesel won’t make sense as I’ll finance my car, so, it’s petrol for me. My budget is max 12L (on road).Duster CVT comes within my budget after some negotiations. But Ecosport AT is out of my budget. I like to drive manual cars but since my drive would mostly be within HEAVY Bangalore traffic I’m leaning towards Automatic transmission to save my left leg. 😉 And, yes, this would be our first car which I would certainly going to keep for next 5-6 years. Are ☝️ inputs good enough to suggest me? Seek your expert suggestions one - 1)I know it’s subjective but what is your personal choice among a manual and automatic when one drives more within city? 2) Do you think the new Duster still without features like rear wiper, foldable OVRMs make sense for the price? Thank you so much in advance! Looking forward to your suggestions.
Afternoon Ramesh 1) Bangalore = Automatic only. 2) Rear Wiper and Foldable ORVMs are not mission critical so will not affect my purchase decision 3) Whilst Duster is a great compact SUV, however, design has got dated irrespective of recent cosmetic changes 4) Today is the age of connectivity so go for a vehicle which has equivalent of Sync feature of the Ford. Not pitching for Ford Ecosport, but its petrol engine with AT with tried tested Torque converter is real fun to drive - unfortunately it does have rear seat issue and may be pricier than the Duster 5) If you are open to a Mahindra, then Marazzo feels spacious from inside, I quiet liked it when i was driven around in one some months back. Unfortunately do not have review nor have i driven one, but no harm in checking. Last but not the least in your defined budget, whilst Duster fits the bill, I would still look at the Ecosport maybe with a stretch. Hope this helps
I have a Renault duster purchased in 2017 done about 85000 kms according to my use and personal experience it is a best car and maintenance is very less
But I am sure you will agree that there could well be as many unhappy Duster owners like this one out there on the roads. But Duster is a great car to drive and that's a fact.
Morning Shubham - I don't know a 110 bhp machine can be called a pure beast, more so when the clutch feels hard and the hydraulic PS tires you out. Believe me I wanted one, but rejected it for those 2 reasons. By the way the protagonist of Compact SUV in India namely the Ecosport and Duster have started showing their AGE. It's time either they change dramatically or something new comes in.
@@ecardlr the hydraulic power steering provides lot of feel nd feelback kn drives that why the handling of duster in cornes is good for that resons, Nowdays suv comes with electronic stering which dont have feel nd feddback its come with lite stering so driver cant feel confidence while rash driving, The old ford car famous for fun to drive nd best handlers for its hydraulic power stearing. Nd I think its a good thing for compact suv nd suv for better handle. For some one that the plus point nd for someone ist difficult to drive. The driving enthusiast never complain obout this. For a noraml driver its bit difficult to drive I think. Chek the reviews of famous automobile channes after launch of duster from 2012 to now lot of compact suv comes in segment but no one can match the ride quality handling of duster I agree its audted now lack lot of fetures nd all.but In terms of its overall performance Its unbetble till now.
Afternoon Shubham - No debate on road feedback being better from a Hydraulic Vs a Electric PS. Quite useful on high speeds, but parking and slow traffic drive makes it a pain. For enthusiasts as you rightly mentioned it does not matter. I also completely endorse your POV on Duster's ride quality, even though its a pretty light car from an SUV perspective, yet it's stability is unquestionable. The compact SUV does have a decent diesel lag, but its still a performer. It's a matter of getting used to it and adjusting your drive.
My father drives a bolero. 125000 km in 4 years. Was planning to upgrade to duster. But looks likes the mileage is too low. Also the maintenance looks high. Bolero had almost negligible maintaince. 20000 rs for tyres at 80000km. 22000 rs for 2 fuel injector replacement at 100000km. 14000rs Clutch plate replacement at 120000km. All company parts and service prices. Till 1lakh km there were absolutely no mechanical replacements. Looks like better upgrade would be the scorpio.
Afternoon GR - Thanks for those details, would be really helpful, if you could help what's the scheduled service cost and period between two service. It looks like a Mahindra fan, just wanted to know as to why are looking at the Scorpio only and not at the XUV 3OO. Would love to hear from you.
U can change bro. Its the review of 110ps becuz 110 ps gives low average . I have used 85ps the average of that was 19kmpl on highway and 16 in city at any cost. He is giving the wrong interview as per the wiper blade . Only rubber are changed no company will change the full part.
Evening Sahil - What he was doing was explaining child part and whole assembly. What he means is that If you were to go to Renault service station then even when you can replace the wiper rubber blade in the after market, the same cannot be done at Renault service station where they will force you to replace the entire wiper blade assembly, that's why the spare part costs are high.
Renault duster is good choice Please. Take test drive your self for both cars duster and Scorpio Road stability is far better in duster And sevice cost is 6000 to 8000 / 10000 km
Duster is good choise personally use best car to buy in compact suv segment I must say I have brezza also but duster is little bit chep for service (autorize service centers).
And sir you have given this interview for disel or petrol vehicle .Also could you please tell about vehicle details like model ,year, engine type and etc.

Morning Abhay - Thanks for a diff perspective. Each one off us will have different stories to share for any car / SUV. Duster = Rough & Tough, planted drive, great build quality, but its a heavy car not ideal for City conditions and its tiring to drive.
Wrong interview. Am sure it's not yours. Some propaganda. Am the owner of Duster AS01DX5201. Purchased on 30 Dec 18. Present milometer is 93118 kms in 02 yrs minus lockdown. Absolutely no problems, changed nothing. Mileage is around 19 kms. Only negativity is that company service centre is doing monopolies. Charges are high.
Sir plz help me...recently i owned second hand 110 diesel amt duster( 35000km driven)...i got 11 in city...plz tell me whats d exact mileage? ..plz reply🙏🏻🙏🏻
I have driven110duster 148000km ,no clutch plate change till date,no injectors problem.major problem was height pressure pump at125000 kms and it cost me 57000rs
As an owner since 2012, I could see his perception is nothing because of his inexperience in "properly" driving a car. Yes, I am talking based on the experience of running an online forum (DusterClubIndia, pure technical support forum for duster owners) where people used to share their service invoices. There used to be a time the bills were hovering around the same as this uninformed user in your video had and on closely observing the invoices, 99% of those bills are just inflated bills with far more itineraries than what the manufacturer had mentioned as the mandatory ones. Its dealers' business (all manufacturers) to make money out of their extra iternaries like polishing, interior claening, ac cleaning, early brakepad changes, early clutch changes (many were due to the driving habits too) and the list goes on. NO ONE GOES THROUGH THE OWNER'S MANUAL NOR THE RENAULT APP THATS SAYS ABOUT THE MANDATORY CHANGES REQUIRED FOR A PARTICULAR SERVICE and end up in a HUGE BILLand later BLAME THE MANUFACTURER. THE ACTUAL SERVICE COST AT ASC is ~4-5K max for any normal service and for every 20K kms it will be ~6-7max depending on the model. YES, DUSTER IS CHEAPER TO MAINTAIN THAN A SEGMENT BELOW. After educating people in the DCi forum people could reduce their bill to almost same. If the user in the video were careless about his car and approve everything what the service guy says, ITS HIS FAULT. Moreover ha has no idea about how to judge the paint quality too as per his version. Its at par or better with most of the cars in the market, an elcometer will clearly tell you that and not soft as japanese cars too. The only curse can be about the interiors, but from the experience I can clearly say its not soft and rugged and build to last, but crude in looks. You wont hear even a single vibration not any rubbing sounds even if you use the car roughly which the car is meant for. Avg depends purely on the driving, I could fetch 27-28kmpl on sedate driving on highways and 15.8 with pretty spirited drives. Even in bangalore city I have never seen an avg less than 15. In simple terms he DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THIS CAR.
Evening Sir - A Big Thank You for such a detailed explanation. I however, tend to disagree on absolving manufacturer from their responsibility of not educating their customers, not reining in their overcharging dealers, not ensuring first time repair, not keeping enough spares and not analysing their repeat customer data base for the same issue and reaching out to such customers ... this could go on an on. All these observations are basis my over 20 years of experience with car dealers as consultant and as a communication expert with car manufacturers. I also take affront to the fact that the owner is at fault for not reading the manual and the bill. I would also like to know as to how would you explain other customers having similar high cost service experience. Last but not the least, I think, one must respect the fact that no two car owners experience will ever be the same. Final request, let it be all about the car and not the person.
@@ecardlr This kind of pushed services is not at all manufacturer-specific, almost all manufacturer dealers are doing this, no one is an exception. Here manufacturer is not at fault as they themselves have created an app to generate an estimate based on mandatory itineraries, if the user dont want to follow that then the user themself is at fault, no point in blaming. That app can track all the services done and many other features particularly for each and every car based on the vin number. This kind of blunders are almost done by 90% of owners, they just blindly go with the asc exec and later blame the manufacturer. From my experience, most of the parts except critical components are pretty cheap. FYI, duster shares a lot of parts with Logan or the current Verito. Almost 90% of the OEM parts are available in the open market and cheap than the asc, if people dont care about these, there is no point in blaming the cost of the parts. Its the ignorance they are paying for. Also, no asc can keep an inventory for any non-moving items and as far I know bangalore dealers have most of the commonly required items in their stock.
@@autonutzindia8975 Lots of useful information here. Thank U sir. Just wanted to know is it worth buying 110ps instead of 85ps? In 50-50 highway, city (rural area) driving
I am somehow surprised with the review. Probably, it's just about this particular car. Perhaps, it's his opinion and that's very subjective. I thought I should be sharing my experience, if it could help others who may be considering the vehicle. I bought my Renault Duster 85 ps in 2014. So far, I've done ~1,84,000 kms. I still havent found a good reason to let go of this car. The ride quality is just outstanding. The suspension and ride quality was the reason I picked this car. In fact, I never liked the way it looked(too dated). I can say with so much confidence that the car has exceeded my expectations. The fuel efficiency part- City, I get between 11 and 14, depending on traffic(I've even got as low as 10 kmpl). Highway, I get between 17 and 20(The best I got was 22.46 kmpl). I've always used the most reliable topup to topup method. Spares are expensive, but it aint so if you service it outside the authorized service centres, which is what I have been doin since the 1 lakh kilometre mark. The first set of tyres(215 65 R16) lasted 83,000 kms. Upsized to Yoko 235 60 R16. That set lasted 70,000 kms. Now running on the third set, which is yet another set of 235 mm Yoko. I think it's got so much to do with my driving style too. I do highways mostly. Speeds around 90 and 110. Occasionally, up to around 150 kmph on good highways. No sudden acceleration. Minimal braking. So far, I've replaced the clutch plate once and the struts too at about 1,20,000 kms. Apart from that, the car has been well behaved. The life of a car depends quite a bit on the driving style. Anyway, what I have written here is purely my experience. I hope it helps.
Humble and practical review. Thank you.. this really made me skip duster from my next purchase list.. parts are too expensive, unreliable and old school design doesn't help either.. thanks again for saving me from this expensive dream :-)
Afternoon Sagar - Yes it does have a heavy clutch, which he mentions during his review. Maybe he got used to it. Heavy clutch and hydraulic transmission was my reason for not buying the Duster earlier.
Very true..car is excellent but spares cost is sky high..There were issues initially with the first dusters..I'm having a 2015 model..not having any such issues like brake, relay etc..but still there are lot of ergonomic flaws
Morning Mangala - You are right, Duster over time has improved a lot, but early impressions do influence buying decision. May I ask if you would be interested in helping us with your Duster's review for our channel
Duster and Mahindra Verito shares a lot spare parts with eachother, most of the spare parts used in Duster and Verito are same, Genuine spares are expensive local spare parts ( after market ) have no quality use genuine spares from authorised dealers, do the works from local workshop some extend we can mange service cost by doing this
Electrical part is the worse. But the driving and the road presence is awesome. Service staff is one of the f***** up and the company never bothers to check this.
good car but india mein after sale service little bit week , i dont get why dont people buy - toyota , it is expensive in exshowroom but it will easily last 3-4 lac kilometre without a single problem
The driver is saying only cons of this car Agar itna hi problem hai to bech kyu nahi dete Aapki maintainence to yahi pata chal rahi hai aapke seat covers and car ki body and rims ko dekh ke Sir i hv it from 5 yrs and its truely A beast
Afternoon Sir - On a lighter note, at least our viewers will not blame us for only showing +ves of the car. But on a serious note, around the end of the video, he shares his reasons for purchase which basically was the newness of the compact suv, which got him envious looks. However, he does praise the great highway driving experience of Duster, its stability etc. Its unfortunate that his his problems only kept on repeating over time and solutions were always painful.
Honest review,he’s not happy for what he paid for Change of gear lever is the first time i have heard about such change lol 😂 There are better choice in the market with low cost maintenance and better economy. And plus renaults service is killing its cars Very honest review🙏🏻🙏🏻

Evening Siddarth - As I explained in our 10K celebration video, the only hero's in our videos are the owners who selflessly give their time and drive for us, without expecting anything in return.
Sirjee change the car the feedback you have given people will think 100 times to buy a duster. So much cost and parts are not at all reliable he should service from reputed service centre outside and not from the company service. Duster is an old car change into something better and smart even Kicks is far better car
Morning Joy - I think we all must not forget the fact that Duster created this new segment of compact SUV, which literally changed Indian car buyers car preferences, they all moved enmasse to Compact SUV, a phenomena which was furthered by Ford Ecosport No-one is perfect, as is the Duster, but its highway drive is an experience to cherish.

His diagnosis was absolutely wrong. By adding a higher amp fuse you are risking the safety as it can lead to a higher load on the stock wires and can cause fire hazards. These kind of jugaads are always the main reason for this kind of accidents. The root cause of the issue should have been found out since other cars except car run without any issue on the earlier relay.
Long term reviews are really the best ones because it tells you the real durability, pros and cons of the car.

Morning Sahil - A big thanks for your contra point. Thought I will share mine too, definitely not with the objective of winning this debate as we would love as many contra points as possible which will ultimately help our community members take an informed decision, the sole purpose of this channel's existence. here are my two-bits;
First of all not all car owners are car geeks like you, therefore Build Quality aachi hain is how they will explain that aspect.
Plus even his case the clutch and pressure plates got changed post 60K Km
Last but not the least each car owner is sharing his/her ownership experience and I am sure you will agree, no two experience could be the same.
Absolutely right, depends on your style of driving. My duster has run 60k..still feels new n fit.
I run terrano 112000 km. Everything is good even sound of engine is not changed. All services from company

I bought a used Terrano from second hand.... I'm listening a mild hissing/whistling noise from the steering pump while turning, is it normal?
I m look forward to buy a pre owned duster would you recommend
This review is the answer to everyone who has been complaining about the Only Positives/ Biased reviews presented by ecardlr. I never felt the same as those who complained & have always been satisfied by this channels content.
Thankyou Once Again ecardlr Team. Great Job as always.
Thanks POL Khol that has always been our endeavour, we never try to bias or influence any review.
Afternoon Ramesh
1) Bangalore = Automatic only.
2) Rear Wiper and Foldable ORVMs are not mission critical so will not affect my purchase decision
3) Whilst Duster is a great compact SUV, however, design has got dated irrespective of recent cosmetic changes
4) Today is the age of connectivity so go for a vehicle which has equivalent of Sync feature of the Ford. Not pitching for Ford Ecosport, but its petrol engine with AT with tried tested Torque converter is real fun to drive - unfortunately it does have rear seat issue and may be pricier than the Duster
5) If you are open to a Mahindra, then Marazzo feels spacious from inside, I quiet liked it when i was driven around in one some months back.

The pure beast only driving enthusiast can handle it...
@@shubhamk9425 what about skoda yeti? Have you ever driven that? Drive it once.
Renault duster is good choice
Please. Take test drive your self for both cars duster and Scorpio
Road stability is far better in duster
And sevice cost is 6000 to 8000 / 10000 km

Thank you.. this really made me skip duster from my next purchase list.. parts are too expensive, unreliable and old school design doesn't help either.. thanks again for saving me from this expensive dream :-)

or 70 amp vali baat me smj ni paya
Afternoon Vikram - These relays help in running the AC motor. lower Amp was not taking the load therefore had AC tripping problem.
His diagnosis was absolutely wrong. By adding a higher amp fuse you are risking the safety as it can lead to a higher load on the stock wires and can cause fire hazards. These kind of jugaads are always the main reason for this kind of accidents. The root cause of the issue should have been found out since other cars except car run without any issue on the earlier relay.
useless vehicle
