  • We still boat camp. Although not as easy when we were younger, the
payoff is great when you are checking out the stars and looking for
    satellites in the sky

We bought this boat and had it made in 1988. It came with a standard 330hp Merc. Stay tuned for our epic Lake Powell trip that we will take in early Sept

You bring back many fun and enjoyable memories. Not being critical, just curious. Why drive all the way to Cottonwood Cove then up the lake rather than put in at Willow Beach and go down the lake? No wrong answers!

We live in Fullerton, CA, so towing the boat to Cottonwood is the fastest for us. Trip time + gasing up the boat in Searchlight takes us 6 hours and then we are on the water. We love it. In May, we are driving to Katherine's Landing because we are meeting some friends there.

@@stevewhitton8671 Yes, you're right, that is a long haul. I guess we were spoiled living in Vegas we could go out after work.

@@garyanderson2823 Hey Gary, Our boat was primarily used at Lake Mead. In the late
'80' and all throughout the '90's we used to take our 26' deep V boat 40 to 55 miles
up the Grand Canyon. Those were the days. We used to launch out of Temple Bar and camp at Sandy Point. Then have happy hour at the Bat Caves in the Grand Canyon. Those bat cave are near where the Sky Walk is today. I miss Lake Mead. I can tolerate Mohave and put up with Havasu, but my heart is at Lake Mead. They have a 24' restriction.

@@stevewhitton8671 Us too. We were at one of the lakes almost every weekend in the 80's until '93. Yes, Sandy Point, Echo Bay, Ann Marguret Beach, South Cove and Pierce Ferry not sure where the sky walk is, that wasn't there then, but we used to go as far as Columbine Falls. A wonderful time, full lake and not too expensive gas. Loved Lake Powell, but my heart was and still is with Lake Mead. Used to SCUBA there too.

Yes awesome memories from the early 70's on! Waaaaay before jet skis & ocean racing boats on a freaking river, even Havasu!!! I'm very lucky to have experienced these many river spots, Powell a few times, Shasta before there were too many houseboats! Now I go to the sierras & Oregon to say away from the crowds. Thanks for the video!

@stevewhitton8671 Awesome video Steve, haven't been to Mohave in 15 plus years, looking to make a comeback this year, I know things have changed with the 2 strokes, but also you need to pay to launch these days, correct? Would you happen to know the cost for a truck, boat and 3 people? I am sure you have a annual pass by now. Is it still free to boat camp I hope at least? or do you pay a lump sum? I appreciate any info on the matter to make a comeback!
