    This is not a shootout or a comparison, just a gentle amble in the countryside with two lovely Italians.

    I totally agree.. the 1098s is a beast to ride…. I have a tricolore. Most of the times when I let a mate ride her, they come back rapidly. To much power when not used to. What a beast. These kint of sensations you do not get on a modern bike anymore. To polished. The 1098s is the most raw, ballistic bike I have ever ridden. Not an easy bike to ride. To much for the open road to be honnest. Can not be ridden slow speed. Good vid 👍🏻😉

      I owned four RSVs in succession, so obviously I'm a bit fond if the Mille.
      I wasn't particularly lucky with them as only the last one got sold on intact.
      In standard trim the Rotax V60 is surprisingly smooth for a big twin.
      The Ohlins on the RSV-R is a bit harsh at low speed, yet virtually flattens shit, bumpy English country roads when you ride it as intended.

    Rose tints firmly on for the Mille R, still remember the agricultural nature of the engine at low rpm, battery issues and not being able to get heat into the front whilst chewing up rears, but it is lovely! Flawed in a human and charming way. This is a really nice authentic one, i dropped mine too at 0mph.

      @@mwbradait's good to know you are 6-2 and comfortable on the Aprilia. I'm 6-3 and had a Tuono, which I loved and now thinking about getting a Mille, hoping it is all day comfortable. I love how many in America don't even know what Aprilia is.

    • @rustynuts82
      @rustynuts82  Год назад +1

      @sprezzatura8755 The Mille is big for a sports bike, quite roomy. I wouldn’t say all day comfortable, but good for a superbike. My limit was around an hour on either the gen 1 or 1.5 as my throttle hand would start to tingle.

    Have exactly the same rsv also have a Ducati 750F1 which is a raw and rorty hoot . Love Italian bikes you couldn’t go wrong with either but I find the aprillia all day comfortable compared to the 1098s I’ve ridden. Re the side stand just fit a fireblade 03-08 side stand and problem solved.

    Give me the Aprillia any day over the more cramped and uncomfortable ducati. It has more useable performance, is comfier and more reliable. Most under rated sports bikes in history now starting to become very desirable and collectible as true classics well ahead of their time.
    Both great bikes though. The Duke is definitely more track focussed where it makes more sense.

    • @r1ngo46
      @r1ngo46 2 года назад +2

      Duke is actually good road bike as well. I went from a 2005 Blade to the 1098S and loved Ducati’s that much had them ever since and had 1098S, 1198S, 1199S and 1299S. 1098S is way better bike that the Aprilia and won numerous world titles. So much torque from the 1098/1198 engines will literally power wheelie from tickover

    • @mwbrada
      @mwbrada 2 года назад +1

      @@daggrz1613 that's awesome! What year is your Haga edition? I had completely forgotten Noriyuki had a brief stint with Aprilia in the early 2000's. I'm sure somewhere in a box in my garage I still have rolled up posters of Noriyuki puck dragging the YZF when he first blew up in WSBK. @Paul C I definitely had some apprehension about riders saying how well the RSV Mille R fit taller riders, but I can now say I am in absolute agreement, and it fits my almost 6' 3" frame wonderfully.

    • @pauln6803
      @pauln6803 Год назад +1

      Actually, the 10 series onwards aren't anything like as cramped as the torture device known as the 916.
      The Duc has very low bars and a fairly long reach but the heavily rear set foot pegs meant that there was leg room for even my 6'5", all arms and legs frame.
      Too skinny though, aprilia designed possibly the best tank in the business for gripping with your knees and using your body to flip the bike on its ear.
      Can't say about the handling characteristics of the Ducati as I've only ever sat on them and not taken one out on the road.
      I did own three 2003 Mille's and one '03 RSV-R (the only one not to be written off as 4 wheeled road users seemingly had it in for aprilia!), so I know all about them.

    Sorry but that Ducati wins on color alone. They just too pretty. I remember riding the 848 when those first came out and it was just so raw feeling compared to R6. Getting off the 848 to the R6 I had to check to see if my R6 was even running because it had no vibration! These are bad ass bikes for sure. The main memory I have from that was INCREDIBLE brakes and the way it leaned into the corner just tipped right in and wanted to stay lent over. Was so impressive. The R6 felt like it needed to be wrestled into a turn but could have been tires.

    • @rustynuts82

    Ducati is exquisitely beautiful, but the Aprilia is far more useable. It is actually comfortable to ride on the road for over distance, while the Duc becomes torturous in short order. Not that the Mille is a slug, it will hold its own on Track Days.
