@@FixitwithFowler I don’t mean the seat of the valve. The pin goes through a rubber o ring. The o ring stops the water from leaking at the pin. Non oil based products are safer where rubber or plastics are involved
I made that mistake with a diverter valve. In the end the rubber swelled so much it stuck and then broke the motor gearbox. Silicone is what I use now lol
You beat me to it. Wd evaporates you'll be doing it every year. Silicone every time. have yet to go back to one I freed up. Will agree don't pull the pin unless you want a In door fountain
That would probably work ... except that in our bathroom the spring had broken ... so the solution was the pull the pin out and replace the trv with a screw down cap ... not screwed down. I have now replaced the trv when replacing three other radiators.
It works for most radiators. However, sometimes, i suppose the only answer is to replace the TRV. I do have more plumbing videos on my channel that may help!
Oil based products will eventually eat through the rubber seal in the valve causing it to leak out from the pin
It can't reach the rubber seat of the valve. It was only to lubricate the pin to prevent it sticking!

@101blueflame101 oh right. Thanks

WD-40 isn't a good lubricant. Use silicone, safe on rubber seals.

A good tip I found, rather than push or pull the pin, give it slight twist left and right and watch that bad boy spring back up
Great tip, thanks for your comment 👍
So nobody gonna admit they've pulled these pins right out before 😂
Oh, definitely not 🤣🤣
I will. only as it was corroded to f and wouldn't budge. Boss said never seen me move so fast.

Oh, that’s what it looks like. A lot simpler than I imagined !
It's really easy to fix, but i do have the full video on my channel
Great tune😁😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Thanks
The heat is on!! 🥵 Great song!
Thanks!
Thank you! That fixed it!
That's brilliant, im glad you fixed your radiator valve!
Just pull them pins out and give a plumber a call 👍🏻

this is how they are in the UK
If it works you've just saved yourself £750 plus callout charge.
Bunch of chancers the lot of them, YEH! I said it!
💯 damn right
Wd40 is not real oil..it wont damage rubber just a couple of drops on a pin.
Thanks for your comment!
Good Music!
Thanks 😊
Just dont turn the radiator off ever again 😂
Only pull the pin if you’re a pro!
Definitely
Pro what
Whats in it oil or water
Oil to lubricate the pin but not necessarily required
Would be better using limescale remover
Never thought of trying that!
Plumbers use silicone grease.
Should of used gt85
The heat is on!
Isn't it just!
Great video but a white lithium grease would be better than wd 40 as all that does is evaporate away.
Never thought about lithium grease. Thanks for your comment 👍
@@FixitwithFowler of course! the WD brand sells a can of it too. It will stick around haha
@andrew1898 lol
No, it's not good for the rubber seals in the valve.
That pipe isnt in that valve right
Next time i drain the system, i will sort it out, but it has been like tgat for over 8 years!
For a new valve and solve the issue rather then prolong the ongoing problems
Or just do it right and replace it 🤷
Or just free it off for free
Use vacuum pump oil. Its safe for your gaskets and seals
+Steven B ok, cheers!
@@FixitwithFowler a empty zoom spout bottle works great. Have a great holiday season
@stevenb9913 cheers 🍻
