Am the only one who thought this fight would have been way better if there was a final finisher QTE once Tanimura beats the last bodyguard, like him causally walking toward the terrified Munakata, who's unloading every shot and missing before Tanimura breaks his arm and takes him down with one punch to the face.
My personal thought is that it would be a lot better if we had more of those qte's to do feel the heat on some of the bodyguards, take out a few of them in one go, just anything to make this grueling hell of a boss fight go by faster.
My last trophy before getting the platinum was to clear the game on Extra hard. Going in with the sacred tree armour and dominating everyone (especially after the first time playing this fight) really made it feel like I'd finally totally defeated the game. Except for learning Shogi. We don't talk about Shogi.
Tanimura is one of the funnest protagonists to fight with. Also a real good mix of combat outcomes and possibilities. At times, I wished Kiryu or Majima had a technical fighting style like this apart from their styles which are obvious in aspects of power, speed etc. a great and epic boss fight. Thanks for the final boss fight Dev.
Man, it's a bit of a shame that the game had to end on such an annoying fight. Sure, the set up is just beautiful - with Munakata insisting Tanimura doesn't stand a chance against such numbers, and the latter responding there are men in this city who'll fight a hundred guys if they have to for what they believe in before he goes charging into battle - but you're just stuck dealing with a team of bodyguards while Munakata keeps taking potshots at you from the background. Mind you, the music is awesome as always and that QTE is superb.
I dunno, I like to find solace in the fact that YOU are the final boss in this fight, not you're fighting the final boss. It's a very interesting parallel to Yakuza 1's final arc, with how it went from Jingu to Nishiki.
When I played through this game blind I just randomly chose to give the Sacred Tree set to Tanimura. Boy was I glad I did when I got to this boss fight
Yakuza, the game series where side quests are strongly recommended and is the deciding factor whether you'll have a bad time or a good time fighting bosses.
Though a really badass moment for Tanimura accompanied by a really awesome theme, for me this is the weakest final boss in the series. Sure, Aizawa was... well Aizawa, but he at least had a fight which felt like a true finality to the game. Anyways, great job Dev. Despite my personal indifference to 4, it was great to see you fight the bosses of 4 all in all. I look forward to your future projects man! :)
for some dumb reason i decided to not play as tanimura much, so when i got to this fight i had no healing items or good skills. i was also level 11 so i got my ass kicked. after retrying 6 times i managed to beat him.
Honestly the game makes it kind of easy to not play as tanimura much. He seems to have a much lower volume of fights, both random encounters and scripted ones, than all the other protagonists, and his chapters are WAAAY shorter. Like chapter 3, if you do zero substories, is just essentially going to the archive and finding the stuff about the saejima case. Literally nothing else happens.
This is how a man with standard combat capability would have handled a fight like this. I like the part where Tanimura doesn't have too much flashy moves compared to Kiryu, Akiyama and Saejima. His fighting style is centered in counters and simple strikes that help in fights where he powers through not just overwhelming odds, but attrition as well, considering his endurance is not as good compared to Kiryu and Saejima; both Kiryu and Saejima are herculean in terms of strength and stamina compared to the other protagonists of Ryu Ga Gotoku/Yakuza. Probably the reason why I like Tanimura's combat style is because it's mainly straight to the point that it's very imitatable; almost anyone with good observation skills and learning uptake can learn how he fights. If you can't fight like Kiryu, Majima, Saejima, Shinada, Yagami or Ichiban, *you might as well learn how to fight like Tanimura.*
It most likely is. His father was directly involved with Saejima's case 25 years before the events of the game, and when he got closer to the truth, he was silenced and as a result, Tanimura grew up to be a detective to find out what really happened. Seishiro Munakata is the mastermind behind the events and against him is the son of one detective he had silenced.
This video made me realise I didn’t play as Tanimura properly. this fight took me ages because I didn’t have the right skills and I kinda just spammed attack

I just finished this game. I absolutely can't believe I beat this on hard mode 1st try. I used half my healing items the first 5 minutes it was so brutal. After I'd beaten all the regular body guards I downed Munakata and then was on the last 3 body guards. I was all out of healing items and my health was critical but I noticed that my heat was auto charging. So I kept running around until I could get 1 of them alone in a corner and I'd parry them, grab them, and use my heat actions. By the time I beat the final guard I was literally 1 or 2 hits away from restarting everything. I don't know if it would have made me start back at Akiyama or Tanimura but I knew I did not wanna find out.
I skipped yakuza 3 at the time because it wasn’t available on ps now. I was surprised how well yakuza 4 and 5 held up in comparison to 0, k1 and k2. However I recently went back to y3 after the remaster came out and it was noticeably worse to play
now, i dont know if people think about this, but Yagami and Tanimura have many resemblence and this is why i would want Tanimura to back again in Yakuza series...but, law prohibited him.. well, should change the actor
I've done 5 both in English and Japanese a while ago, so I can't re-upload videos of them. 3 and 4 were some of the games I haven't done a proper boss/long fight series for, so that's why I went back for them.
Yeah I guess there is no point in doing 5. It's a bit of an off topic question, but it is Yakuza 3 related. There was a battle pack included in Yakuza 3 disc, do you know how to get it, cause I really wanted to fight against Hamazaki and other bosses in coliseum. I didn't know that Majima was taller than Kiryu, I always thought that he was taller, Hamazaki is taller than Saejma I didn't know that either, and it looks like Mine is taller than Kiryu.
This could've worked better if the story revolved more around Tanimura, I feel. This IS a mystery that's been built and mostly cover from HIS story after all
In my opinion, these fights should've been matched and ordered differently. If I had my way, I'd match and order them like this: 1st fight Shun Akiyama VS Takeshi kido The only matchup for Kido that both makes sense in terms of character relationship AND as a fair fight simultaneously. 2nd fight Taiga Saejima VS Daigo Dojima Maybe have Saejima take on Daigo as a means to test him, because he wants to make sure that Daigo is a worthy leader to serve under in the Tojo Clan with the Majima Family. 3rd fight Masayoshi Tanimura VS Seishiro Munakata Maybe with a few less bodyguards, and have Munakata stop being such a fucking coward. Make him fight better, possibly like Ibuchi in Kiwami 2. 4th and final fight Kazuma Kiryu VS Hiroaki Arai And maybe give Arai a tattoo while we're at it, 'cause it seemed a little strange to me that he didn't have a back tattoo, even if he was secretly a cop. But that's just my opinion.
Eh, I thought the fight match-ups made sense. Keep in mind that Kido only did what he did because Saejima inspired him, so Saejima served as his test. One he was clearly NOT ready for, but a test nonetheless. Akiyama vs Arai made sense because Arai was who Akiyama had hedged his bets on in terms of who among the yakuza would be able to rule Kamurocho. And really, there isn't any other character besides Akiyama that Arai has any sort of connection with. Kiryu and Daigo made sense because Kiryu is the one who left the Tojo Clan in Daigo's hands, and in Kiryu's own words he had to show him just how heavy the burden of the Tojo Clan actually is. That being said, if I had my way, I would have replaced Munakata with Katsuragi. He's at least partially responsible for the death of Tanimura's father, so it could certainly still have impact for him. Plus, I just hated him way more as a villain, he's more present in the story and in my opinion, an even bigger asshole than Munakata. Just my two cents.
This fight made me hate old yakuza game ports, it has everything i hate on a broken engine. First off, we start with a boss that has minions, already sucks. Said boss has a gun, said minions are mostly grapplers and others that can stun or knock you out with every attack they use. The minions knock you down and then you're shot, being juggled in the air like it's fucking virtua fighter. The minions also can attack you as soon as you get up, meaning you can infinitelly get knocked down if you don't spam evade. They use knives that you have no defence against. The big guy can barelly be affected by grabs, the only thing that makes tanimura a viable character. I was playing on normal btw.
Hey Devilleon7. Soon I'm gonna do a Yakuza 0 walkthrough of my own and I need your opinion on something. Do you think it's better if I make a new game completely or do a New Game + with my current abilities and upgrades? Also is there anything I should be aware of throughout the story that could possibly get copyrighted?
It's really up to the purpose of the walkthrough itself. Are you doing it to show the story? Are you doing it to help players out? Is there another reason? Look at questions like that and then you'll find your answer. There is no need to worry about any copyrights because there's none in the English release of 0.
devilleon7 well when I do walkthroughs I just do it because for the hell of it. And I try to go through the game as gracefully as I can. I usually want to make the game look good. Kinda what you do when you do the long/story/boss battles of of the yakuza series. Besides I'm leaning more towards doing the New Game + because I'm not in the mood to start everything over with the default skills. I've already achieved the legend styles and completed the substories and I'm trying to figure out how to beat the Amon clan.
This fight becomes much easier if you take out Munakata first, but then again you don't get to see the QTE, and dealing with Munakata first is a kinda drag since you have to get the bodyguards away from him first, and then run back and land a couple hits on him, run away and pull the bodyguards away from him, then run back and hit him some more, rinse and repeat.
TBH, it’s not a hard fight, but boy, it’s one of those that pisses you off when an antagonist goes behind a human shield wall like a pussy. NGL, but since I know how to use Tanimura, I’d made sure the tactical forces stay stunned or far while I go full taunt mode and locked on towards Munakata. Of course, that didn’t take too long to end him and then, focus on the tactical forces next.
why is this fight way easier than jingu? they literally copied this into kiwami so why is this so easy in comparison? especially since it has way more bodyguards
This boss fight was a completely bullshit it's on the same level of the constant stun spam, constant bullet peppering and the shit load of guards that constantly knock you over. Probably one of the worst boss fights in this game.
This fight is pure trash u just cant do anything and have to wait for the few times where you can actually manage to Land 2 or 3 punches and then get spammed again by at least 3 enemies at the same time this game tilted me so much for its shitty fights where ur attacked by all the opponents at the same time

Nah. Whooping Munakata's ass was extremely therapeutic after dealing with his annoying thugs

I've already achieved the legend styles and completed the substories and I'm trying to figure out how to beat the Amon clan.
why munakata didn't shoot tanimura when he jump toward munakata seem like an easy shot
Risk to rise cause game plot.
Maybe he did not have enough time to react
to be fair it is nuts for munakata to shoots tanimura while that many of his goons surrounding him, someone might get friendly fire
Plot armor
I didn't know grabs were op for this boss
What i did was spam parry, parry heat action, and 2 hit combo heat action
It forces you to abuse I-frames of grappling. Otherwise you get staggered to death.
Paul Patterson i mean it’s actually enjoyable to take out all the swat team
When your character is fully equipped by plot armors and a bullet feels like a slap in the face
Great game but the final fight shouldnt have been a discount jingu
I was one of the lucky people who was able to do this like 2nd try.
The real title should be "Yakuza 4 - Boss Battles: 14 - Seishiro Munakata's gun"
worst fucking boss fight ive ever seen
capra demon from dark souls becomes a S tier boss when compared to this
Old Tanimura is souch cooler
This fight is the bane of my existence
Just keep grabbing everyone like this guy and it becomes surprisingly easy
Cool a grappler
I'm so glad they remade Tanimura's model for the remaster, the OG one looks like he belongs on a boy band
Genuinely the least fun I've ever had in the whole Yakuza series.
Does anybody else think Munakata coincidentally looks like Ryō Ishibashi?
ムナカルマ 征四豪!Munakarma!
tanimura with bangs is better imo
why is this fight way easier than jingu? they literally copied this into kiwami so why is this so easy in comparison? especially since it has way more bodyguards
Found it way harder personally, especially since Tiger Drop deals with Jingu's thugs so easily
This boss fight was a completely bullshit it's on the same level of the constant stun spam, constant bullet peppering and the shit load of guards that constantly knock you over. Probably one of the worst boss fights in this game.
Your problem is you fought the guards
Possibly the worst bossfight I've played yet.
Here comes Munataka, the weaker guy than Iwami.
This fight is pure trash u just cant do anything and have to wait for the few times where you can actually manage to Land 2 or 3 punches and then get spammed again by at least 3 enemies at the same time this game tilted me so much for its shitty fights where ur attacked by all the opponents at the same time
It isn't though. If you brought weapons, it is easy
dau
The worst boss in gaming history
Jingu 2.0
Even Iwami is better than this dude.
Munakata and Iwami are the worst yakuza villains.
worse jingu
This fight ruined my yakuza 4 enjoyment. Never had to spam a move just to win a fight until this one. Horrible fight...
That whole intro cutscene was just plain awkward as fuck
