Hey Gaku. Do you think you can cover this tutorial in Davinci Resolve? The challenge here is that it doesn't support .gif files. I've somewhat tried using the aligned JPGs and use a "smooth cut" video transition in between them, with a 0.04s delay between each JPG on a 24p timeline and here's the result: photos.app.goo.gl/kEZSpdaPvRMkWqSw7 Pretty unsatisfied with the results but if you could help achieve a better look with Davinci, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks
Nice tutorial! A note from me: I would import my full size images in After Effects as single images, align them there in a comp, nest the comp, put it in another comp and say this comp to do optical flow. The advantages here are, that you can easily do it in one program only, the quality will be a lot better (GIF is not a quality-preserving data format) and you can easily adjust the length of each single frame by getting back into the original layout comp. The problem with GIF is the limited amount of colors shown in the image and as said before, its not made to preserve quality. Also, I would recommend to not render your clip out of premiere as H.264 and import again, as H.264 is also not the best format to re-edit again (would recommend ProRes 422 or just nest the nest again and adjust the speed there!) But a really good to understand tutorial, loved it!
@@tormint5294 right click onto the clip/comp in your timeline which should get the optical flow, choose "frame blending" and then "pixel motion". That is equal to optical flow, I don't know, why Adobe calls it different in different programs :D I hope all steps are translated correctly as my AE is in german.. But googling "frame blending After Effects" brings me to the right tutorials :)
Heh artef**ing, love it. Considering that you’re setting the gif to 0.12s, which is 5 frame per second I’d change premiere settings. optical flow works better with multiplied frame interpolation, so setting it to 25 frames will give you slightly better results and less artf**ing 😊
cool, but i cannot understand why you would destroy the quality by decimating it to 256 colors and dithering, THEN bring it into premiere. Why not just save the 4 full quality frames, THEN bring them into premiere, nest them, then decrease the speed and interpolate the frames and give premiere the full quality image to work with? probably would get better results that way with any method of frame interpolation
I let out a sigh of relief when I heard Gaku the king of GIFS pronouncing GIF the way it is supposed to be correctly pronounced 😂 amazing content as always broski!
its actually wrong, its short for in a jiffy and even the creator of .gif announced that it is pronounce JIF. also he couldn't pronounce the word artifacting correctly either, its not facking lmao so double L.
Cool video, Thanks, But like you said in the end, couldn't you just do this with video and then put of type of drop frames effect on it so it looks more like this and not so smooth?
Hey (just curious) isn't saving a GIF significantly degrading image quality? You could export the layers to files (jpg, png, tiff), and import them in Pr as a sequence
so why cant i just shoot the video then replay and reverse it, just take few frame from the video, with gimble shooting video is a lot easier than handheld shooting photo, and More efficient
This is great, thank you! I'm curious - would shooting with a tripod with some sort of a rail attached make this even easier and more accurate once dealing with the images in post?
Interesting to see a different way of doing this. For myself, on photoshop video timeline, i did it with 5 sec on each photo and then speed it up to like 2 secs (or any other length to match the music im using) in PP.
hi, thanks for posting your method. I tried it and seem to have better luck with it. One thing I can't seem to figure out though. When I play it back in premiere it's smooth and perfect. When I export though I get a glitchy mess of a file. Tried playing it in VLC/uploading to RUclips, tried a load of different export settings but still no joy. Any ideas?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Did you use a flash or led light for the picture in photoshop? If it's a flash, are you shooting your 4 pics manually or are you using burst mode?
Thank you very much for sharing, I’ve been looking to achieve that ! Got a request for one of your next video : could you show us how you would achieve the stop motion effect of your buddy Pangea ( skate / bicycle post on his insta ) ? I already asked him but he’s too lazy to post a breakdown of his scene lol. So I was wondering how would be your take on it. High speed burst mode, 60fps video, handheld, gimbal, tripod …? 🤔
Oo that's a difficult skill - I think it's a combination of gimbal, motion tracking and then just wizardry in post - I'll hopefully do a video on it in the future!
Anyone tried doing this vertically? You can achieve really cool results!
now I want to know how to implement this gif into my video and make them look seamless like you do in your instagram reels
can this work on fcpx?

Perhaps I'm the only one that's only tried this vertically...

Been looking for a good 3D tutorial. Yours was THE BEST. Easiest to follow and understand. THANK YOU

is there any tutorial on how to do this?? I am not able to view any images that i import into after effects.
Woah I'm totally doing this
You will definitely become the top 1 who makes cracks
this effect is simply incredible. Can't wait to try it
This is the most clear explanation! from its photography and all of those editing are amazing, thank you for making this tutorial !
Your fit is so dope!
So helpful best 3D / stereoscope explanation I’ve seen

Great update to the older video you did! Cheers!
awesome idea i always wanted 3d gif effect thanks
Heh artef**ing, love it.

Been waiting for this THANK YOU
bro I love your editing style
fire tutorial man, thanks a lot
Nice. You can also Select Subject in Ps, add a motion blur filter and export that to calm down a busy background. Good video.
Love the structure of this video! 🙏
Awesome video 👏
GOATED! Thanks for the tutorial broski 🔥

Such a good tutorial! thanks this is what I was looking for

thanks for your tutorial, its really nice
DOPE! I follow your IG and always wondered how this technic was done. Might have to try it out now.
Thanks so much
Could you potentially mask the subject and then input a still frame from the train if you didn’t want all of the artifacting?
Thanks you 👑
Thank you
but this work really like a video more than a 3D photograph...
terimakasih ilmunya kang
amazing
Nicee!
thank u frieeeed
i think you should try to include the hot keys on top of the video so its easier to remember when following the tutorial!

Hey (just curious) isn't saving a GIF significantly degrading image quality? You could export the layers to files (jpg, png, tiff), and import them in Pr as a sequence
yes you could just drag the whole psd file and load it up on you sequence as layers
You can! I do this purely due to habit and work flow - it's something I've gotten used to that helps for timing in my final video outputs.
@@GakuLange the tools that work best for you! I get it, for me its more of not even losing a pixel cause I still use a 600D
I think Gif compression gives a subtle texture to the images.
@@247.mp4 maybe but you still compressing those pixels my friend
this is effect is popularly known as the mura masa glitch effect, love how you evolved it by using optical flow to morph the background
You’re a boss
Nice video
It's a shame optical flow behaves differently on final cut pro :/
Makes me want to get my hands on premiere for this 😅
come join the adobe gang! you wont regret it
Can you teach us how you use your 360 cam?
I really would love to see how do you edit your reels , especially your mosted viewed ones
thxs :)
very good tutorial, can you make one about the editing of the photo, are you using lightroom?
BROOOW i need that hoodie! hahahaha 1:28
Damn 🍀
I would love to see a tutorial for this effect in after effects
so why cant i just shoot the video then replay and reverse it, just take few frame from the video, with gimble shooting video is a lot easier than handheld shooting photo, and More efficient
and don't forget to set the camera to mf - bc of lens breathing and shifiting focus. but yes ;)
god
This is great, thank you! I'm curious - would shooting with a tripod with some sort of a rail attached make this even easier and more accurate once dealing with the images in post?
what’s a good camera to start with? that’s a bit more on the affordable side?
❤
What camera settings did you use to get these pictures? @GakuLange
Does it work in Final Cut Pro?
Interesting to see a different way of doing this. For myself, on photoshop video timeline, i did it with 5 sec on each photo and then speed it up to like 2 secs (or any other length to match the music im using) in PP.
Interesting to see the time differences for everyone! Definitely a lot of cool ways to do it

Yeah I’m wondering this too 😂
I think he did it manually.
Which lens filter are you using.
What Font is the intro? 0:07
PLS TUTORIAL FOR COLOR
why didn't you use auto align layers in photoshop?
🤘
I was wondering if you can do this in final cut pro? I'm very interested in doing this but I don't have premiere pro ://
Bro i watched that video three years ago

Thank you very much for sharing, I’ve been looking to achieve that !

not sure why but on mine artefacts bleed into a few frames on my subject. I then cut those frames out but you don't seem to have that issue??
When i try to export my time line i only get one pic as a GIF. how do i get them all ?
Well when I reach at a point where I have to slow it.Then error pops out exporter returned bad result. Now what should I do?
(OOT)Are there any missing features when premiere pro is installed on m1?
Try on android?🙂
