- "Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) on Monday defended a controversial racial tweet over the weekend, saying it was a funny joke and emblematic of his support among African-Americans.
Cohen was speaking with MSNBC's "Morning Joe" about last week's news that a woman he thought was his daughter turned out to not be, a controversy that started with a tweet. Host Mika Brzezinski brought up a tweet Cohen sent over the weekend."*
Congressman Steve Cohen has been in a bit of trouble between some various almost-scandals. The progressive politician was "caught" texting a young woman, at one point thought he had a child out of wedlock, and what else? Aren't there some actual-scandals that might be more noteworthy? Any journalist who participated in mustering up these non-scandals has foregone all his right to ever complain about politicians being too "sanitized" or politically correct. Journalist reap what they sow. If you are going to be all up in arms any time a politician speaks casually or acts like a normal guy, you don't have the right to complain when they don't.

He's not saying his constituents actually think that he's black, he's saying they don't think of him as 'that white guy', but a guy they can relate to. That's a good thing when you're representing people.

many politicians have to resign in some cases mostly because of the influence of publishing companies. and in many cases it's the same one and it doesn't let go. for a politician it's like bad publicity and it is taking you down. ultimately the real reason of resignation is oblivious. so if it's about finding a real scandal or telling the real scandal, take a pick!

I could see the affair being important. When you're in a relationship with someone there is an understanding that you don't cheat. When you do you betray the trust of that person. If you then try to get people to follow you by promising to do things for people why should the public believe you if you have shown that you are untrustworthy. It's even worse if you run on a platform of family values and morals. The rest of your statement however, I completely agree with.

So in summation, Judaism IS a religion and it definitely isn't a race like some have suggested. There are Jews of ALL races the world over.
However, I believe (haven't confirmed) that the United Nations considers Jewish an Ethnic group.

You can also be Jewish without that marker. It's not an exclusive club. A man or woman can convert to Judaism and thus be Jewish. So he's right as well.
