    Thanks for the idea of adding a pause outside of the truck station's loading zone!

    Another episode! You're doing an amazing job of adding more good stuff to this Let's Play. The "pop-out" of the truck station is a great addition and conplements your detailed explanations. Perfect since this a tutorial as well. Thank you for the content!
    In response to your question, I think you should continue what you're doing now. I like the idea of having several specialized factories with their components being shipped to a large central base. Another thing I think would be interesting is if you made separate facilities as opposedto full on factories. Like one for constructing, one for assembling, manufactring etc.... This isn't ideal though and would be time consuming.

    I hadn't needed to build truck routes in previous games of Satisfactory I'd played. But do in my new shiny Update 5 one. I'm really struggling with brain fog and stuff at the mo and couldn't figure it out m'self. This video is so well done and explained. Thanks so much, friendo!

      Thanks for the kind words, I am glad I was able to help! I love using trucks, I think they add a nice lively look and feel to the world compared to long belt lines.

    I didn't know a truck can load multiple types of items. It's neat that you brought them all to be sorted at as you did. I was contemplating wether or not to use a truck system and if I needed a route for each type of item, and how it would come together. A main bus is easier to design, but takes a lot of resources and time to make.

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  2 года назад

      I use main busses in other games and I like the idea of them, but in my first playthrough I did one in satisfactory and it was huge and ugly and tanked my PC's performance. I pretty quickly switched to vehicles after that, and they certainly have thier own challenges but I don't think Ill go back. I sort of think of my vehicle lines as a main bus, since logically it works the same way for incoming items. Outgoing items are trickier though.

    I would love to see a combination of both centralized base and outposts. So not necessarily mega base, but definitely a central command of some kind. That's what I'm planning.

    I like the idea of using outposts to get needed resources to build a mega base.

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  2 года назад +3

      That's what I was thinking too! Up until trains production lines are simple enough that we can do them spread out a bit, but once we get trains we will want to start bringing in resources from other parts of the map more and things get more complicated.

    I like to have videos I can play along with, mimicking and tweaking the designs but use as a template as I spend a lot of time staring into space lost in indecision for what to do next. Would be great to see a full let's play/walkthrough.
    That said I also love your editing style and succinct easy explanations. Want my cake and to eat it too I guess lol
    I also like a nice steady, calm talking pace, as I frequently like to fall asleep to videos like these, your voice is perfect for both. Dislike when streamers have forced enthusiasm and come across as endlessly perky. (Eg Foundflix for movie reviews)

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  2 года назад +6

      I appreciate your thoughts and love to get feedback and suggestions.
      I completely agree about streamers. I don't know how they do it, to be 'on' all the time, and it doesnt feel natural or comfortable to me. I find that calemr more relaxed content feels more real. That said, I try not to record when im exhausted from chasing my toddler or otherwise in a slump.
      Ill do some long plays eventually, already thinking about what my next satisfactory series might be (modded long let's play possibly) as well as games beyond that. Of course going to keep making guides as well, since that is what I love to do.

    18:00 when i played in the desert, it was easy to follow (or even overtake) the automated truck with another truck to check whether it was working as intended. but since you can't be in the truck to make it drive automatically, i spent lots of time walking and running ... until i noticed that i simply can stand on its roof and do some easy sightseeing (and checking for problems on the route).
    now i only would need a method to slightly adjust errors in the route, like moving a marker away from some tree or away from the edge of the road, etc. simply deleting nodes can help, but mostly isn't good enough, and recording the same long path over and over again becomes annoying.

      With the update to maps, sounds like beacons will no longer be needed as used in update 6. I'm hoping they can instead be used for truck routes. like drop one near the route, and then connect it to the route, like you do with a power line, then you can either let it default as a waypoint, or edit it to a pause or any other type of route item.

    not sure if this will ever be seen but for the coal re-fueling it looks better if you use a conveyor belt hole (purchased from the ticket shop under attachments) that would be in the logistics section. you can place it on a foundation tile and place the top of the conveyor then go underneath and place the bottom of the conveyor

    25:10 yes, the basher is a really nice weapon. it has an improved range and if you do the double-swing it does 7+14=21 damage instead of the 5+5=10 damage of the simple zapper (according to the wiki), but you need to do double-swings to really get that huge bonus.
    the ficsmas candy basher should do the same, but is bugged and does no damage at all [edit: hotfixed on 2 dec]

    A bit late commenting, but personally my factory has turned into one main hub with multiple specialized outposts. Combining everything into one giant factory seems pretty overwhelming for me at this point.

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  2 года назад +1

      I completely agree. I really prefer the spread out specialized factories to having a big monolith. Ive done both, but one big monolithic factory feels clunky and lacks a certain sense of realism to it. I have had the most fun doing the outposts and that's def. how the current playthough has taken shape.

    Every time I record a truck route, after I have closed the loop random nodes get deleted. This is really annoying because the truck will try to cut random corners and fall off the road.
    Random pauses also appear in the same places each time I re-record the route, in places that it's impossible to drive the truck to such as inside loading stations.
    These problems happen every time I record a route and I have no idea how to fix it

    I chose the grassy planes starting area and basically set up my main base up on that cliff kind of by the big poison rock thing with the slug on it (probably most common grassy planes area). I just finally set up some refineries over by those little islands in the west and want to ship my plastic and rubber from over there to my main base but it’s such a far distance that the petroleum coke im making there will not cut it. Do you have any advice on what to do? I built a sky bridge type thing so my truck doesn’t have to go through that crazy coastline and jungly area with all the giant spitters, but it’s still just a very far distance (well over 1000 meters)

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  2 года назад

      I'd try driving the route to see if your tractors and trucks can make it- they can go surprisingly far. You could also fuel then with coal or packaged fuel to extend the range, or set up a refueling depot halfway.

  • @Anson_AKB
    @Anson_AKB 2 года назад

    7:20 i usually had edited the pauses for trucks so that they waited longer before doing the next roundtrip (to not always do deliveries when they are only partially filled). but with your info, i seem to have wasted lots of power when pausing trucks at stations, and i should better reduce those pauses (can pauses for loading and unloading even be omitted entirely? how fast do stations load and unload, maybe even a passing truck that doesn't stop?) and instead pause trucks later halfway during their tour where they don't trigger power usage !?

    • @Dekoba
      @Dekoba  2 года назад

      Good thoughts! I ran into this issue later in the episode after I record my route and decided that the tractor idling in front of a truck station is probably fine since I need that amount of power available anyway. I certainly would not before getting power automation though. As far as how long you can wait, stations move 2 stacks a second, and at full tilt you can move 6 stacks driving through a station. If you are turning in front of it, you get more. I put a pause in for a few seconds at each station while recording so I can adjust as needed. Since making this video, I have also learned to create a pause away from a station as you have said.

    The FF'ing developers so far refuse to fix invert mouse on vehicles. Therefore I can't play them.
    All those that think, it is not such a big deal, go ahead and invert mouse on foot.
    Enjoy.
    If you are not used to that, it will give you a real and actual headache.
    Invert mouse on foot works, on vehicles it does not.
    It is such a big deal, I was really looking forward to some RPG game and when it finally was released, it didn't have invert mouse option. I demanded a refund within 5 minutes of installing the game.
    It is horrible.
