"Memorya" is the first song of Moncaya's EP "Memorya". A popular Mexica chant, sung for generations around the fire or inside a temazcal (a pre-hispanic Mexican sweat lodge), this hymn to Tonanztin is the region's most important chant to the Mother. Tonantzin means "Venerable Mother" and singing to her means singing to the implacable force of nature and honoring the life-giving divine force inside all of us.
The full Memorya EP was released on 28th October 2022. Memorya presents a new face of Moncaya: one that is soft, deep and acoustic, caressing directly the tender textures of the heart. And still, like always, Moncaya gifts us a wide range of sounds and genres, mixing in her characteristic electronic pop textures within a magically reinterpreted world music genre.
