I just saw your video, it is very well explained but there is one thing I don't understand. 1 minute 30 after the start of the video, you make a diagram with the measurements. what does (5/A) mean? what sew-in interface did you use? How thick/strong is it?

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  7 месяцев назад

      I used a heavy-weight interfacing, but it depends on the look you want your final bow to have. If you want it very stiff, go for the heavyweight interfacing, but if you want a floppier bow, use more lightweight interfacing instead! 👍🏻

    Im new to sewing and this was very useful! I need to attach this bow to a dress shirt while being able to remove and put it back on again, how do you recommend I do that?

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  7 месяцев назад

      @@LabrysLover thank you for watching my video! In terms of attaching a bow and taking it off/putting it back on again, I’d recommend sewing some snaps onto the back of the bow and to the shirt so you can easily pop the bow off and attach it back into place. Depending on the size/weight of the bow, you might need a few snaps, or more heavy-duty ones to do the job. Hope that helps!

    Hi. Thank you for the video. What is saw-in interface? Thick Paper violin?

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for watching! Interfacing is basically a woven fabric that is put behind fabric to make it stiffer or thicker. There are a few types of interfacing - iron-on interfacing has a glossy side that you put face down onto fabric and iron over, and the heat makes the glue side melt and stick to the fabric. Sew-in is interfacing without the glue, which you have to put into fabric by sewing it. It should be available at almost all sewing stores. Hope that helps!

    Hi. Thanks for the tutorial. How do I attach the bow to a dress and make it detachable

    • @leahdavis9434
      @leahdavis9434 3 года назад

      Detachable bows usually use safety pins or clips. Velcro works for smaller bows but it's not as attractive when you don't have the bow attached

    • @beanmachine917
      @beanmachine917 3 года назад

      If you find large enough button snaps you could probably very easily make it detachable that way!

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  2 года назад

      Both of the replies you've received have helped a lot! (Sorry for the late answer!) I find if I have an oversized bow or the fabric is rather heavy I use heavy-duty clips.

    how much fabric should i get if i’m making the front bow and back bow..?

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  Год назад

      That depends entirely on how large you want the bow to be! If you're making something like this sized bow (like for Sailor Moon) I used about 2 meters of fabric. I'm sorry I don't have an exact answer for that 😅

    Hello! I don't know if you'll reply since this is an old video, but I wanted to ask what kind of interface you use. Is it the soft or hard kind? :0

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  Год назад

      Hello! Thank you for watching my video (as old as it is!) In terms of interfacing, I used the stiffer kind because I wanted some really out-there proportions! If you’re wanting more of a soft-looking bow, I’d recommend going for soft interfacing. I’ve also used multiple layers of soft interfacing for making stiffer bows when hard interfacing wasn’t available. I hope this helps!

    What is saw in interfacing. Is it paper violin

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  3 месяца назад +1

      Sew-in interfacing is thin, loosely-woven stiffener that doesn't have an adhesive backing, so you have to sew it in instead of ironing it onto fabric to stick to.

  • @jasminnemcdonald94A
    @jasminnemcdonald94A Год назад

    What fabric would you recommend?

    • @GiorgiaCostumes
      @GiorgiaCostumes  Год назад

      Any fabric is suitable for bows! Personally I recommend going with something that has a little bit of body so that the bows want to stand up some easily with the interfacing, so stay away from anything too light like chiffon and organza!
