- Hello Everyone!
The material inside the bow is called interfacing. You can use fusible or non-fusible interfacing.
Bows are super easy to make. You can make them any size, colour and patterns you like.
Front Chest Bow (like in this video)
Cut 1: 7.5" x 24" (large main part)
Cut 1: 4.5" x 2" (small center part)
Cut 1 interfacing: 14" x 3.5" (with a small angle on the edges)
Cut 1: 14" x 7" (with a small angle on the edges)
Have fun with it!
Let me know if you have nay more questions,
Thanks, I really appreciate your time,
Sasa
Every year, between dance, cosplay, and Halloween costumes, I need a pretty bow. And every year, for literally the last decade, I come back to this video to remember how to make these bows! Always beautiful, always easy, for pretty much any size/fabric I'm using. Thank you! 🩷🎀
Wow!! thank you so much, happy to have helped.

I have never really sewed before outside of small fix up holes in clothes, but I wanted to make a bow for a prop I was making and your tutorial was super easy to follow along to for a complete beginner. I absolutely love how it came out!
That is awesome!
Its very helpful that you show not only what pattern pieces go where but also how they look midway through making!! Will so be using this for my cosplay
I'm using this for a Steampunk project. Your tutorial was super easy to follow, and I love how it turned out. Thank you!

Making a Sailor Mars Halloween costume for my daughter. Thank you for this video. It's perfect, easy to follow. Your bows are exactly what I need to make. Thank you 😘

Easy to follow.
Thank you for such an amazing tutorial :) I'm entering my convention's mascot contest, and while I have made bows before I wanted to make this year's many bows perfect, which following your instructions I feel I can do. Thank you!~
Looks pretty easy, I hope I'll be able to do a gigantic bow for my Rin Hoshizora cosplay that way :) Thx for sharing this with us!
You're welcome :)
I’m going to attempt to make em it needs to be about 24 inches wide and tails 24 inches long for tops of puffy Christmas wreaths this looks perfect
Also curious about the measurements for the bigger bow :)

Glad it helped!
funny "poke poke poke" lol I love these bows
Thanks!
I really love this bow, im just need to make a longer tail.
Thank you!!!! I was looking for nice large bows like this for some lolita dresses I was making. Thanks to you, the projects can get finished ^_^
Try using a stiff fabric, or you could use felt (although that might be a little heavy) You can also use normal paper, but be gentle and make sure it doesn't get wet.
I used plain broadcloth, but you can use almost any fabric you like as long as it doesn't stretch or is too heavy.
dis z soo luvly. Easy n worth watching.
Thanks so much! My bow turned out great and perfectly completed my costume :)
Great to hear!
First of all, Awesome tutorial! It saved my butt. Though I would like to say that when you go and make the little strip for the middle part, using the zipper foot attachment is a ton of help. You get super close to the edge and it doesnt make the fabric go all wonky, also it looks really nice when its done!
Sorry I couldn't help more, but Yes they are really simple, I'm sure yours will turn out fine.
Thanks for this tutorial! I need to make big bow for my Shinoa Hiragi cosplay, so this is perfect. 😄
+OuranHaruhi You're welcome!
Omg 6 years later im watching the same tut for the same shinoa hiragi bow lol
my sailor moon cosplays gonna look so cool now tysm
You're welcome!
You explain things very nicely, thank you
Yeah :D You're welcome
Thank you! :D I'm sorry but I don't remember the exact measurements I used. Just measure across your chest to see how wide you want the bow, then double this to get the length. (same for the back)
Thank you so much!! I’ve been trying to make my homecoming dress and this really helped !!!
I'm so glad!

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been looking for how to make a giant paper bow, but I keep getting the round kind that go on cars. I’m going to use this approach and hopefully it works.!

This is a great tutorial! I love it, hehe. I can't wait to put this to use one day.
درودبرشما.هالی بود.لطفا اندازه های پاپیون میگید؟واینکه اینو میشه روی تل هم نصب کرد؟
Oh, that's a very good tip, Thank you.
I don't use a thimble, I like to live dangerously :p.
BunnaySango :D
I got you all beat... I accept the terms without reading ^-^
Thug life!
Very nice
Try using a headband, and you can place safety pins on the back and then use clips/bobby pins to attach to your hair
Do you know what number of interfacing you used? I am working on something similar (your method is a thousand times easier than what I was trying to do) and tried the foam style interfacing and #70 interfacing and yours seems better, less stiff. I was just wondering if you remembered the number you used?
I love this video so much!! The girls in my VPK class love them ❤️❤️
The material for the bow is called broadcloth or poly cotton, it's cheap, stiff and easy to work with, you can find the paper-ish stuff (interfacing) at a fabric store, just ask for it, they will know what it is
Thanks for this wonderful tutorial 😊
Awesome I'll use this for my sailor neptune cosplay!
Its ok. I seen another video that did the same kinda bows and she put the measurements in the discription. Both were great but i really liked youre video more better lol you seemed lively and she talked like she dull c: But they do seem easy to make and hopefully it will be a breeze for my cosplay
HOW DO YOU FOLD THE BOW?! IVE BEEN TRYING FOR HOURS AND I STILL CANT! PLEASE EXPLAIN MORE
Thank you - loved your instructions.....:)
Pauline Hutchins Your welcome!
Lady Sasa - just wondering - is there a place where we can subscribe to all your sewing how to videos? I love them....:)
thank you :)
Pauline Hutchins I have all of my videos on one channel (sewing, cooking dancing, random etc.) I make playlists of the sewing videos, you can check them out on my channel.
This is a pretty nice tutorial!! :>
I might be using this tut for making a faux obi knot (it looks a lot like a chocho musubi/butterfly knot! i was thinking of making a chocho musubi for the obi) for a modified yukata cosplay in the future.
Thank you! Ohh that's sounds cool!
You're welcome! Yeah, I'd love to show you the resulting cosplay when I finish it!
OMG i was exactly looking for a sailor jupiter cosplay!! (Character part of the sailor moon universe)
Great, hope you have fun making your cosplay.
That's absolutely cute! I always loved big bows like these, but first, I have to know how to sew~! x3
Really nice!
Thanks!
I'm totally using this for my ariel cosplay
Very helpful thank you
This will help me make my Aya cosplay~ Thankyou! I'm just worried if the interfacing won't be strong enough to hold the bow up
so if I wanted a floppy bow I would just not add the white fabric? I'm making a school uniform like bow
Thanks for easy method my sis😀😀😀😀
Thank you my sister love you 😀
i love these bows ! theyre so cute !!
Thanks, i'm still new to sewing (i just learned how to thread my sewing machine needle) THANKS!
Yes, I needed this for my sailor moon cosplay!!

Perfect video, very well explained thank you!
You're welcome.
Exactly how I wanted to make my bows thank you so much
Goldensunshine Your welcome!
Thanks for the video
Definitely going to do these! 😘😍
What was the measurements for the purple and blue bows? It looks like the size I need for my Ciel in Wonderland Ciel apron.
It's up to you, it depends on what size you want the bows.
I love the way you done the bows, I have to make bows for brides maid's dresses with longer ribbon my question is I have to use satin would this still look good.
T- Racy Oh satin would be beautiful! Make sure to use interfacing to help the bows keep their shape.
Amazing n simple to make ,do you know the measurement for a standard chair pls. I'm making the bow instead of the chair saches. Thanks
LOVE this! Thank you for the great tutorial! What fabric did you end up using??
The outer fabric is a polycotton. At the time, I didn't have much budget and it was the cheapest option. You can make the bows in many kinds of fabrics.
this is a great video will work well for my nurse joy bow.
Leah Roberts Thanks! Yeah Nurse Joy! :D
Thank you! Super useful and mine turned out super pretty :)
This will work beautifully for my Sugar cosplay :3
Thanks a million!
Would wax paper work? For the inside to keep it stiff?
I don't think wax paper is stiff enough.
thank you so much for this tutorial! i'm going to be cosplaying rabbit from steam powered giraffe and this was the one part of her costume i was having trouble with, this helped tons! ^w^
ravens825 Your welcome!
nicely done!
thanks!
+Stephanie Denise Your welcome!
wow, thanks for the tutorial,i've been looking for an anime bow tutorial for awhile now
ah just the tutorial i needed! thank you!
You're welcome :)
What type of fabric did you use for the bows in the video? (if you remember)
Or, does it not really matter what kind you use?
absolutely perfect tutorial!!
Not sure if you're still responding to comments on such an old video, but I figured I'd shoot my shot. I'm looking for my bow to be a bit floppy, would leaving out the interfacing be a good way to accomplish that?
You can use less stiff interfacing. There are different thickness that you can buy. Or if you just use fabric, you can pick a thin or thicker fabric depending on how floppy you want it.
What are the measurement for bow, what about tab the loop & small strip that goes between the loop & bow?
Can I make Stocking Anarchy hair bow like that?
Loved this tutorial! It was so easy to follow! :)
This is a really great tutorial! Thanks a bunch for posting :D
can u please make a dance tutorial on Btob Wow?? i love how u explain your dance tutorials (:
This sizes are described in inches, right? In centymeters will be half size longer?
Yes, it's in inches.
I will use this for monikas hair bow!
Great tutorial!! I'm making curtains/Valences for my grandbaby's nursery and was looking for a LARGE bow tutorial to add. I have a ?, on the long "tail" piece, do I need to fold over the edge of the actual fabric, over the interfacing, before I sew the 3 edges together, or does it matter? I hope you understand what I'm asking, haha! (I'm pretty new to sewing and what I do know is self taught, haha!)
Okay for the long piece: You can sew a tube first, then cut the interfacing slightly smaller than the tube, then slide the interfacing inside and seal off the opening.
Thank you~ I tied a little of my hair back and stuck the bow onto it.
And I found out that you should make the bow's width a bit larger since it'll be gathered and ended up a bit smaller. I want to show a pic but youtube doesn't allow links >
Awesome tutorial! I want to make a Sakura Card Captor outfit and this should be perfect
