mh i have just made my first shots, unloaded 15 mags, not a single rack, and my char has no skill in shooting. hitting something is more of a problem :D perhaps the gun is already in a bad shape, like in RL this fucks you up XD
Pro tip that I found out the hard way, wearing any thing that goes over your eyes like a hockey or Gass mask absolutely Fucks your aim, I couldn't understand why my level 8 aim character had a pistol cross hair the size of a level one, but then my hockey mask got knocked off and the crosshair became a dot lol!
Tbh, perhaps they should add to Veteran a passive bonus to reduce the impact wearing a Gas mask/NBC suit causes to aim. Because likely part of the Army course might involve basic NBC hazzardous Emvironment drills. Would make zero sense why a Vet would lack this (Unless said vet is old enough to be from a period where Armies didn't issue or push for NBC training if no such shit hit the warzone they were at war in.
There is this one game name foxhole which also have an isometric aiming system. What the dev should have done is to simply remove the fact that player have to put the mouse right on top of the zomboid. Putting the mouse right on the zomboid let you do headshot and putting your mouse behind the zomboid mean the shot will be random, but will still hit. And regardless of level, shot from a single shot weapon like pistol should have 100% accuracy if you wait long enough (which will be stupidly long at lv0 aiming)and aiming skill affects the aim time only
Another game doing this would be Synthetik, body shots are almost assured when aiming behind an enemy but when aiming directly to the head you increase headshots dramatically
People complaining about it have never fired a pistol under extreme duress. Especially when fatigued, malnurished and hopped up on pain killers 😂 Coupleing that with face wear that obscures vision like a gas mask or welding mask doesnt help either. In saying that. If you play with mods then just wait for a mod update for b42 and just keep playing the very outdated b41. Plus its in the name. Unstable. Tweaks will come
The problem with that is that all those issues would make it near impossible to do anything with a crowbar too, yet a guy can wipe hordes with level 1 long blunts, but level 1 firearms is a total joke.
@@cow_eater1337 for an inexperienced shooter, the human head is definitely small enough to be hard to hit even at a fairly close range, especially if the target is moving at all. not to mention it's safe to assume that zombies are probably not very steady on their feet which would make their movement much less predictable and thus make their heads harder to shoot. if you don't believe me, go to a range, rent a gun and see how well you do. I can assure you, it's not as easy as pointing and shooting.
One thing I have noticed is that gun spawn rates (at least from where I have spawned) are super low. in B41 I could probably stumble on a gun or some ammo every 6-10 houses (depending on location). I have looted atleasy 30 houses in B42 and not seen a gun or any ammo.
My problem with this new system is that the reticle position doesn’t work particularly well with the isometric view. Also, shotguns no longer cleave crowds it seems?
The mod called 'advanced trajectory realistic overhaul' already adds a reticle like this to the game but also has aiming conditions for different status effects and weather, and the aiming is fully customizable. Its way more advanced than whatever indie stone has been trying to cobble together for the past 3 years. I am biased towards the vanilla aiming system though since there are way less bugs and it fits the isometric view a lot more seamlessly.
I mean it on the unstable branch, so bugs are going to be common, + i don't think they spent 3 years on this it was more for crafting and animals. I think this gun overhaul was more of an afterthought. I do like this one more than the other, to be honest, but I probably will be using advanced trajectory
I wonder what could be done different because I don't like how b41 does guns but don't like the b42 unstable so far does crosshair either, I'll probably end up using that mod too.
I also love ATRO, but I am excited to see the new Vanilla System be built upon. It would be great to see something more like ATRO. One the TIS has going for them, is that their physical projectiles seem to be a lot faster than ATRO's. projectiles.
With the Gun Stock Attack mod, which makes the push action with guns do a small damage melee attack, you can hit a zombie once to stun them for an easier shot. At the cost of some endurance and condition, you can reliably use the pistol on singular targets with this method. You can also funnel zombies to a window and get easy headshots when they jump through if you wait beside it. The game rewards shooting unmoving targets very well.
This is very awesome. I was having these issues while playing and its nice to see that others had the same issue and had similar feedback, and the indie stone is capable of taking feedback and improving the system.
I'm so glad we actually got something that is more involved than "see green = left click" and something that could work in PvP. My expectations for B42 were very high, but they managed to surprise me
Listen: If 20 eating flesh monster are in front of me and I have never touched a gun its understandable I miss a lot BUT if I empty a gun 2 meters from the target you CANT tell me I missed every shot!!! Thats total BS. You can be panicked of course but that doesnt make you a stormtrooper come on
Theres a problem with shooting downed zombies, but besides that the main problem I have is that gaining weight is literally impossible even if you eat food as frequently as you can.
btw you dont need to eat food regularly to gain weight, you just need to eat something with fats, like butter / margarine, they also get you lots of callories
There are thresholds for calorie levels at certain times in the day for gaining and losing weight. Additionally, bonus gain can be had from carbs and fat thresholds.
How much XP were you getting per shot? Because it seems the XP gain for combat has been honestly fricked all around. You can literally waste FIVE good crowbars in combat and still not get a single drop of Maintenamce XP, much less a level of it.
New shooting system and muscle strain, feels like these two things were added with only the multiplayer in mind. One of them we can turn off, which is nice, but the other is a very significant change to a system that was very straightforward. It will take some getting used to (and a lot of deaths).
"Advanced trajectory realistic overhaul" mod is compatible with britas. It adds a reticle system that changes based on different effects and weather in the game too. Its way better than the build 42 aiming system.
@sei_asagiri Mods are a blessing for the community, they really aim for what is needed, i love it. I will try this mod, but im a little bit concerned about build 42, i think i will wait more updates.
@k90v85 Its been 5 years since B41 unstable released. Indie Stone has made millions and millions of dollars off this game. The best they can do is make a half baked aim system that modders already did over a year ago but better? I know b42 still in 'unstable' but the way Indie Stone is handling criticism about b42 really seems like they thought they were cooking with this.
I'm SO glad they're tinkering with jam rates. I'm racking CONSTANTLY and it's just beyond infuriating.

What really needs to happen is a complete stealth overhaul.
