- This video explains every Armored Titan in the Attack on Titan anime and manga. The Armored Titan is one of 9 titan shifters in AOT and there have been several iterations of it throughout the AOT timeline. In the AOT manga we have currently seen more Armored titans than in the anime, which has only had 1 Armored Titan so far (Reiner Braun). The manga displays Armored Titans of the past, some of which have interesting designs. This video will explain the backstory of all Armored Titans (that we know of) and also commentate on the designs of the ancient titans.

In this video I’m gonna explain every Armored Titan in the history of attack on titan, ranging from nearly 2000 years ago all the way up till the present day of the series. The Armored potentially has the strongest protection of all nine titan shifters.
The first Armored Titan we’re gonna talk about is Reiner Braun. Reiner is the son of Karina Braun and a random Marlyean man. Reiner persevered in his attempt to become a warrior candidate but could only watch on as Marcel, Bertolt, Annie and the rest were chosen ahead of him. The problem was that he had no practical skills that put him above any of those other kids but he was eventually chosen as the final warrior candidate, after displaying a frightening loyalty to Marley in the written tests. This over-the-top loyalty is something that Porco Galliard mocked Reiner for in the anime. Of the 7 warrior candidates, either porco or reiner was meant to inherit of the armoured titan. Reiner was selected as one of the four warrior who would infiltrate Paradis island, with Zeke and Pieck staying behind in Marley.
On Paradis, Marcel revealed the truth that Reiner was never meant to be chosen as a warrior. Before Reiner could even process this information, Ymir’s pure titan appeared out of nowhere and if it wasn’t for Marcel pushing him out the way, Reiner would’ve been eaten by Ymir.
In terms of the design of Reiner's armoured titan, it stands at 15 metres tall and with the exception of some minor areas, his entire body is covered by armoured plates. The front Reiner's neck is one of those exposed areas, but luckily his nape has two protruding bits of hardening that protect his human body. Reiner has an armoured mouth guard that opens in an almost mechanical way and it’s short blonde hair was identical to Reiner himself. As a trained warrior candidate, he is able to use this titan in very interesting ways, such as selectively destroying parts of his armor to increase his speed or hardening his fingers so that he was able to scale the walls of Paradis. Despite that, I’d say that advances in technology have affected this titan more than any other, as the armor is it’s main selling point but it can’t withstand anti-titan artillery or the thunder spears. According to Bertolt, neither he nor Reiner could remember the memories of their predecessors, so as of making this video we don’t know who had this titan before he did.
The first ancient titan we should talk about is one that was covered from head to toe in relatively small plates of hardening. This design was obviously inspired by the thing from fantastic four, as Isayama has never been afraid to take inspiration from western media. For example, Reiner’s armored titan was modelled after Brock Lesnar. With the exception of its neck area, it looks like The Thing has no areas where it’s not covered in armor.
Chapter 137 was the debut of another ancient armored titan, who we saw fighting the female titan. It has curved armor on it’s face which looks cool alongside it’s hair and unlike Reiner it has no mouth guard, so it’s teeth are completely exposed.
The helmet armored titan made it’s appearance in the previous chapter and as the name I gave it suggests, it’s defining feature is the mediaval style armor on it’s head.
Because the back of the helmet is shaped like this, it means the nape area is protected by both the regular armor hardening on the back and the helmet as too, so trying to defeat this Armoured would’ve been incredibly difficult. The one downside of this ancient titan design is that there is a lot of bare flesh exposed on its face but beyond that it looks pretty good.

The plot armour ability doesn't belong to the armour titan but it is actually a power exclusive to the Braun family as Gabi has also been able to make use of this power

There are non Eldians using plot armor as well. This is a conspiracy worth looking into. Without Eldian blood, they are somehow able to hack into their list of abilities. The colossal titan's explosion doesn't always kill regular humans outright, so it makes sense that a specifically hardened titan wouldn't be too bothered by it

Writers and plot two strongest elements in anime that nothing can beat
The cool thing about Reiner's titan is how the armor changes over time. Compare him to episode two here he charges the gate to 5:21. The first time we see him he's covered from head to toe, to protect as much as possible, he was young and probably didn't understand the give/take nature of the Armor Titan's niche. Modern Reiner has way less armor but it's still in places which matter the most.
while im pretty confident a majority of the change is just studio changes, its also interesting to consider the fact that he had less armor because of his desire to die

The armoured titan's entire body is covered in thick armour so he has no way of losing the titan steam that his body produces . That's why he has to open his mouth and release a huge amount of steam every few hours.

It always bothered me that Reiner could withstand being basically nuked but his armor can't withstand being shot at by low grade missiles(thunder spears) which are basically cannon fire. If they stuck with the nuke resistance thing, the armored titan would literally be unbreakable besides other hardened attacks.
Bc the nukes are just steam and the armor plating can withstand steam
@@Cat18364 But with that steam comes force and heat. So if we count the force of a thunder spear exploding and an anti-titan bullet and compare it to the force of a small nuke, there's going to be a big gap in power.
I think it's because the spears pierce into the armor before exploding, while any other blast only scartches the surface
There are bugs who can withstand a nuclear explosion and yet a slap can kill them

Could you talk about reiner’s ability to move his consciousness to his titan body? Is this a skill all shifters could do? Or is it unique for the armored?
It's a shifter ability, but it's a huge risk because they can't guarantee they'll survive in a situation where they have to do that. Reiner only did it because his neck was severed, then his head was blown off. He had to do it to survive. So far, nobody else has had to do that.
Yea the moment he move it before levi's blade goes through his neck. You know levi is fast and known as Humanity's strongest soldier OR Paradis Strongest Soldier but reiner moved it faster than levi's blade 😆

first off yes second of if you haven’t read the manga you shouldn’t be here in this video or comment section Chapter 94 was were the line came from before Marcel got eaten and he apologized because Marcel thought he’d be putting Reiner in more danger since he is now a warrior all to protect his brother and Marcel feels guilty and that’s why he saves Reiner not that Marcel saw Titans as a curse and wanted to save his brother it’s more like he wanted to save Porco from going on a dangerous trip Reiner and everyone else didn’t know a Titan Ymir not Fritz was behind them until Reiner turned around

I'd say that the Warhammer's Armor is more or less akin to skin, albeit more thicker. Its flexible, as we can see, and we know Eren in his Attack Titan form can just rip it apart as he did to disconnect the crystal to the WHT.

CGU makes titan fights and huge scenes easier, but at the risk of things looking a bit washed out depending on what the "material" is.

Mine is definitely the Warhammer. I mean, Weapon is better than no weapon.
@@diakounknown1225 the Warhammer is great but it have its own downside for example, the user is connected to the titan via something like a cable once the cable have been severed. The Warhmmer will be dead and the range on the Cable is not to long.
@@karzaisheikh5619 all titans have downsides. The attack has overall meager defense. Which can be mended by hardening. The female is similar to the attack. The beast weakness varies from user to user. The Colossal is slow AF. The armor doesn't seem to be able to regen it's armor. The jaw is tiny, the cart is not that powerful on its own. And the founding has no weaknesses. Plus, the warhammer was used by a family with 0 fighting experience. If someone who has fighting skills used it, it would be a massacre. Not me of course.

I think it’s obvious that the war hammer titan’s “shell” isn’t as good as armor, otherwise the armored titan would be useless. If anything it should act like a second layer of skin, so if you were cuting it’s nape you would have to slash once for the shell, then twice for the red skin.
Edit: also, Reiner has crevices of muscle otherwise he wouldn’t be flexible, but the war hammer titan has no points for flexibly because it’s shell is skin-like

Yeah, that would make sense, but consider that a hardened eren was able to shatter reiner’s armor, and then those same hardened hands were shattered by the warhammer.
@@alexmayer869, look. WH made a lot of pressure on his hardened fists and forearms, but his unhardened shoulders couldn’t withstand such pressure and just got ripped off.
Makes me wonder if Armors are destined to be rivals in some way to the Attacks. Like one is power but loyalty and subservience, while the other is preserverance and independence. One follows the rules, the other bucks the system. Only at the end do both sides put away their differences and become united.
6:31 his armor seem more like scales rather than plates like Reiner, and he has a lot of crevices, but not in the right parts (elbow, groin, knee) so he definitely was a less flexible armor titan

In my opinion of Reiner's character is this. I believe that reiners faults dont define him as a whole. While he does get beaten a lot he goes down fighting and even though not the best fighter he's a powerhouse. Like in season 2 when he just sends eren flying like a ragdoll you can feel the impact and his charging attacks. When he charged at eren he cracked the wall from the impact it shows the insane strength. I think of the juggernaut. When he's at full speed charging at you get out of the way unless you wanna get bulldozed or sent flying. I believe it's a disservice to his character to always be focusing on his faults while completely ignoring the good stuff about him. He's strong,relentless, brave and doesn't think twice about throwing fists with eren who not only has the advantages of speed and skill but has got not 1 not 2 but 3 titans and two of them are the most powerful in existence. They quick to tear him down but dont see that the man has got more sack then almost everyone in the show. And the whole thing about him always being saved?he saved connie from a titan In the tower, saved historia from falling, protected bertholdt from mikasa twice. Saved zeke from the warships , protected falco from erens transformation and saved galliard from being eaten by eren in the same night. While people say he's trash I say no he ain't. Because what's better? To keep going and pull yourself out of the lowest pits of hell or give up like a coward? It's like Sylvester Stallone said. It ain't about how hard you hit its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

Instead of continuosly smashing your blades on the armor which you know is hard and impossible to break with blades. I didn't understand why fighters like Mikasa just didn't try to slice the red fleshy part of the titan body. She was right there on his shoulder at 01:00 and the flesh was exposed like 2 feet away from where she was trying to cut. WTF

Hey, I do have to say that the warhammer titan’s armor was weak enough for thunder spears to fully pierce it though, tho my knowledge, the thunder spears on the Armored titan were placed between the plates. So the armored playing is stronger, but has gaps.

Actually it’s thanks to Reiner that Paradis had a chance for victory. Paradis would’ve been wiped out faster if it wasn’t for his incompetence. If Porco was chosen instead they would’ve succeeded.

I mean, Porco would have been even worse. He is a hotheaded bastard who gets owned by almost everyone at this point, because he blindly charges into battle. The reason why the Paradis people had this much problem is because Reiner was in charge of the mission, If Porco was in charge, everything would have gone to hell.
