Wow very informative. My suggestion is come to Thailand for a few times before you move, everything will sort out eventually and really not hard at all

Thank you. I agree, it’s quite easy and much better if you come a few times before settling in. More videos to come, so please subscribe.

What is the reason for not applying for O from home country?

Sorry for the late reply, just saw this. If you apply for an O overseas it is an O-A, which will require a bit more paperwork. Depending on point of application, you might need a medical report and local police clearance, plus you’ll need an approved medical insurance policy. None of those are required for the O applied for in Thailand.

@@LetsLiveinThailand That is not correct, at least where I live, in Denmark. You can apply for an O visa from the Thai embassy here which gives you 90 days. Plenty of time to find a place to rent, get a bank account, transfer money/or use agent, and apply for a 1 year extension. No health insurance needed.

Each embassy has its own interpretation of the rules. I assumed the OC was asking about a one year retirement visa. If you’re not doing an OA, there would be no need to apply for an O in your home country, since you can likely enter on a visa waiver or tourist visa and just do it all here - you have to finish it here anyway since they’re not giving you one year.
