You know your snare drums are on point when it sounds like one person is playing the snare drum REALLY loud. The MSU drumline is the best I've ever heard.
2 completely different styles though. MSU is more traditional marching band while NSU is an HBCU. You really can't compare the two schools when it comes to how good they are
I do believe the key words are "Not affiliated with DCI whatsoever." The Rennick's (Paul and Sandy) teach at UNT and I would assume encourage students to try out for SCV. So by that meaning, UNT is technically affiliated with a DCI group
This is the kind of video that you'd want to hook up to some bass speakers or get headphones with bass. That bass drum lines is one of the BEST; especially on those accelerandos and deaccelerandos!!
Man The Dan I’m a Buckeye and I completely agree. From the college lines I’ve seen, it’s MSU, North Texas, and Norfolk State (dead serious - they’re super chop-sy and clean) as a solid 1-3, and I don’t believe anyone else is even on the same planet. I almost feel bad for the Michigan guys watching this in the background, but then I remember that it’s Michigan, so never mind.
As a Buckeye, I’m proud of the huge advances our line has made over the last four seasons, but the Spartans are the best collegiate line in America, bar none, and would give most DCI (now more like WGI, but I digress) lines a serious run for their money. This line is a must-see. Take the time - you’ll thank yourself for it.
Moved to GR a little over a year ago. Started watching youtube vids or michigan and thought damn thats a pretty good line, then stumbled across a MSU vid and the blew me away. Im originally from florida and was a fan of Big 8 back in their prime but MSU takes the cake. Sickest, cleanest line that would beat most DCI lines. I will be making the short drive to East Lansing next season just to see MSUs line.n
@@alexalmond6862 What's the "boomer moment", Alex? Lamenting DCI's regrettable slide to WGILand? Or crediting MSU for the incredible performance unit they are? Or are you just too "snarky and sophisticated" for this non-boomer to understand? Troll.
I come from a highschool who has a percussionist as a teacher and does a lot with drumline we have a great drumlins but I must say these guys from MSU are in time
@@benkessler4439 they have been improving. Have had individuals in DCI (I know they had some Blue Stars guys), and their former Band Director was for years associated with Madison. All that said, no way is UM in the Peer group above. RCC is basically Blue Devils SoCal, North Texas is Santa Clara, UMass is Cadets/Crusaders, and MSU has long been tied to Phantom, Cavies, Bluecoats and top WGI lines for years.

I'd say keep listening to other lines then...
@@benjaminkenobi21he means for collage
Probably the best drumline in america not affiliated with dci whatsoever.
Cheiftain 19 I don't know about that one buddy. I don't think they could be in the same room with NSU Spartan Legion 🔰 Million Dollar Funk $quad.
2 completely different styles though. MSU is more traditional marching band while NSU is an HBCU. You really can't compare the two schools when it comes to how good they are
I would say UNT drumline is on the same level or even higher. The majority of the players are in SCV

Ok
Michigan alumn here…but I was also a Texas all-state percussionist and I know (and knew) MSU drum line is literally the best. Much respect!
Probably the most badass college drumline, very clean
Try Jacksonville State U
Laughs in marching southerners
Them southern bands are phenomenal, but them Spartans are nothing to sneeze at either.

Hands down the best drum ditty on the planet.
Holy Cow that bass line though...
Genius piece of music.
I was in drumline at UT, and these guys would rip us apart. MSU is one of the best if not THE best!
Go OSU and everything, but oh my gosh MSU's drumline is so much better

WOW-Great performance!
Go green and go state
JSU, MSU, FSU, UF, AND OHIO STATE ARE THE BEST DRUMLINES OF THE COLLEGES
Samarth Vohra ohio state should not be on there
@@ElementalJerk why is that
JSU, North Texas, RCC, UMass, and Michigan State are the true peer group. All have DCI roots
adamversus to be fair, U of M has been drastically improving their line and they have DCI and WGI affiliates as well

Most of these guys gotta be from drum corp I’d try but if probably get beat by the Corp guys cause our high school is non competitive
The one dislike was probably a UofM fan...
what's the name of this drumline?
This is the Michigan State University Drum Line
