Nope, in 1976, I watched a Cat (D8) try the same thing, up on Mt. Bessemer in Washington. The Cat went half a mile down hill and the operator was never found. I would never try that on such a fresh slide with all that water running through it.
Yes, and the fact you all made it look easy shows there was more to it but adding dramatics to the video makes some who never off-roaded outside of Ouray more exciting. Went over a bigger rock slide on Engineer Pass, and once in Moab.
I would have gone first. That wasn't even an obstacle but I'll give you that the camera doesn't show what it's really like. You got some awesome wildlife pics!
With all those 'Hands in Pockets' standing around, you all could've at least handballed the rocks and leveled the slide piles out a bit. Would have taken what ? maybe 15 minutes !
Can you imagine teamsters rolling freight wagons on that road with horses/mules that have a mind of their own and are prone to fatigue or panic, LOL? Not to mention the narrow road that existed back then, and wagons with heavy loads and primitive brakes...
Imogene Pass is a fun place. We've been there a few times in a stock Toyota Tacoma. This year has been crazy with the weather causing issues on the trails, but that keeps things interesting 😉
These Jeeps made it look so easy, like butter! I think my Z71 Colorado on 33’s could have made it…🧐 with lots of scratches underneath! Awesome video! ✌️A bunch of us in Jeeps, Tacomas and Colorados heeding up that way in 2 weeks…
I've been away from home (Colorado) for about 8 years now. Miss the back country and 4-wheelin' through it, so I always click on vids like this one. Some are good, some not great, some I want to strangle the people, but yours was really great, calm, respectful, felt like home again with all that you encountered. Excellent job, safe travels always, keep the rubber side down.👍😎
Was just there and did that trail with 2 Gladiators on 8/21/2024 Wednesday, on Thursday was a big mudslide closer to Telluride that closed the trail for who knows how long.
EPIC Drone video! I've been to the Silverton area 3 times. Twice with a Jeep I no longer own and then with my dual sport motorcycle in 2020. I'm thinking about going back in 2024.
I know from experience that the video doesn’t do justice as to what is real but I would have been over first if I had to . Awesome video and first view of your page.
Nice trip and great filming. I love that ride down the creek. I know the obstacles look worse in person, but seem you guys had no issues getting past the rock slide. So long as it doesn't start to move again, seems fine. Mud would have been a different story, like you said.
Looking back it definitely an easier obstacle but looking at it for the first time was a little sketchy because of the unexpected outcome. Still fun though!
@breakingcomfort91 it certainly made the road more interesting than normal. I do find it interesting the side by sides didn't try crossing it. They must have been inexperienced operators.
Cool video! Brings back some good memories of our trip in '21. We got rained out, but no rock slides on the trails. Need to get back out there do a few more trails.
Obviously doable, but you never know if it is done sliding. Stopped for a small avalanche one time. Two guys were shoveling when they looked up to see more coming. Gotta be careful on slides.
That looked like an amazing trip, we were there just a few weeks prior to this and had an equally amazing time with my brother and our gladiators concurring the passes and trails in Colorado and Arizona.
8:14 I would go first. I know you have to be careful but that obstacle is for high clearance SUVs as well. Liked the observations of the rock vs mud for go no go.
We were about to do a rock, paper, scissors game to see who would go first. I have never went over a slide before so I was a little sketched out but as soon as I saw that first one go I was like send it!
Id come over that rock slide in a second. Didn't look that bad but thats not uncommon in that area at all. Last year we were there to run several trails including black bear. It was down for 7 days for slides just like that. It opened and we ran it solo in 2:45 flat. We were scared of more slides as it was predicted more storms that day. It was super wet and the waterfalls were crazy big. That area is no joke and definitely respect it. 🙏
If you know what you're doing and you have folks out directing you it's good. So many newbies out there now. It's scary. We were passed by a couple of jeeps that were in a big azz hurry and cussed out because we were in the way. We pulled way over to let folks by as there were people coming down that had no place to pull over. I mean the rule is that people coming down yield the right a way but I digress. A couple of the jeep drivers coming down were clearly new and scared to death. Coming back we saw one of the jeep drivers that were mad at us going up with a broken axil. Hmmmmmm..be kind, be respectful, follow the rules. Stay off the tundra.
Its definitely not for the newbie as there is definitely etiquette and common sense to be followed... Hmmmmm... maybe a good idea for a new video covering all this? Coming soon!
Wow, when was this? We are scheduled to do Imogene at the last week of September coming all the way from Canada. Is that time of the year good time to go there? Thanks!
This happened about a week ago and should be cleared by now. You will be coming at a great time! Great weather during the day and just a little chilly at night but nothing a good cup of coffee cant take care of in the morning!
Would you have gone first over the rockslide?

@@douglasdever6134 oooh rock slide in Moab would have been gnarly!!
Most of the group were already in the danger zone of more slides so 'yes' and in a heartbeat just to get past the immediate danger.
Did 7 passes around Ouray in 3 days on my motorcycle. Imogene was my favorite.
That is amazing!! Love that you conquered all that on a motorcycle!
I think I could watch this flying drone footage all day.
So much more of this is coming!
i watched a jeep tumble down this pass, i send my buddie!
WOW! See thats why I was kinda thinking maybe I just hold the camera for a little bit then jump in line :)
I would have gone first. That wasn't even an obstacle but I'll give you that the camera doesn't show what it's really like. You got some awesome wildlife pics!
Those bears were awesome!!!
Nice video. My wife and I did Imogene 5 years ago. Magnificent! Thanks for the video!
Awesome! Many more to come!

I honestly am speechless at the fact they did all that with just horses and wagons and some machinery... those were the real deal men of the century!
That was a very good video. Yes, I would have gone first over the rock slide in my Jeep😁
I would go first. But then I never claimed to be all that bright.
Only live once! The rest is downhill
Such an amazing place. Mama nature just added a new obstacle.
Love when it happens!

100% agreed! Love when it gets a little gnarly out there!
Loved the Avata shots down the river in the beginning! I don't think Taco would make it over the rocks. Definitely would be shoveling haha!
You might have , would have been tight!! I had the wrong ND filter on but still learning that whole process but still fun to fly!
Well done and great storytelling about your adventure!
I really just fell into this one , as soon as I realized what was happening I scrambled to document as much as I could
@@joshrathbun1 sometimes that is exactly when the story is formed. Then rest of the shots you got prior just adds to the story as a whole.

Granpappy had a saying for situations like this.
"You dont have to clear the entire road, just enough to get everyone by."
True that!
My buddies and I woulda been fighting to go first 😂
Love it!

It was definitely sketchy for second as I wasnt too sure about that mud underneath but turned out pretty solid!
The biggest risk there was more rock coming down as you crossed. That was a pretty easy crossing though.

Absolutely! Its a very capable machine even in stock form. You will have a blast!
Nicely done! I was there in mid July and Imogene just opened but I didn’t get a chance to run it. It’s one of my favorite trails.
I definitely added it to one of my favs too! Something special about those trails and those mountains
@@joshrathbun1 a very true statement of sure.

I’ll be there in a week
Enjoy your time there, its amazing!
That would have sucked to be in the way of the rock slide while it happened. ...luckily no one was.
For sure, it happened about 10 min before we got there so there was a pretty good debate about how soft the ground was.
I be like hold my beer 😂😂😂😂
No biggie 😊
Nice drone footage. What kind do you use?
DJI mavic air2S and the DJI Avata fpv :)
I only do Imogene when Black Bear is out of comission. Too many tour trucks.
