Awesome ! We as a family just did Imogene the same direction on July 15th. Definitely adds a little more twist from the telluride side 😜. Great job on the video !
@@BigAltitude970 I had regrets after finding out it had my wife ( passengers side ) on the edge and me to the rock face of the mountain 😂. Definitely made me trust her spotting ! She honestly always does a great job !
Oh my goodness. The shots of how close the truck was to the edge gave me just a twinge of anxiety. I really am not sure I could do that one. I would love to. The views are amazing! I love that tunnel. I would really love to get pictures from the top. But I'm just not sure about it. I do look forward to your second half.
@@BigAltitude970 Yeah I don't feel I'd be trying to step out to take pics on the narrow trail. I'd just wait til I got to a nice spot with some space lol. I love that you aren't making this trail look easy. So many people do. I think that can be so dangerous for so many. It may deter me from going, but I'd rather it do that than me get up there and realize then that I just can't do it.
Hey @BigAltitude970, I enjoyed watching your video's going over Imogene. We just missed bumping in to you, we were in Telluride at the end of July and may have been one of the cars you saw up by Bridal Veil falls (9:25). My family has a rich history in SW Colorado. My grandfather and grandmother were one of the people that stayed in the lineman's shack (11:36). Keep on exploring and add your family's history!
That's so cool! It was a busy weekend with all of the Toyota events going on. The history of Colorado is so underrated in our country, you are lucky to have family that is a part of it. Thank you for sharing!
We have done almost all of the trails around Silverton/Ouray/Telluride area, EXCEPT Black Bear, and don’t plan on doing it ever…. We’ve also been to Sedona once and Moab many times . Itching to get back out west again..
I feel like Black Bear is just not worth the risk... I need to meet my grandkids first, then maybe we can try it lol! We are itching to get to Moab too!
Im gearing up to make the trip from Long Island to the Telluride area for some trail rides. My question is what do you mean it was the hard way? Thanks, Frank
Hi Frank, we went the harder way for the longer wheel base of the Tacoma, and we picked the wrong line a couple of times and scraped the skid plate. The better way for us would have been starting in Ouray, rather than Telluride. I hope you have a good trip... definitely check for trail closures, there has been a lot of rain resulting in rock slides. You are going to have a blast!
@@BigAltitude970 Thank you. Ive ordered the book you mentioned also. We should be going in late spring. Im looking forward to it. A cross country adventure.
@@franktoldo7771 Keep in mind that book was written 20 years ago, some trails have degraded since then. However, it has great tips about sight seeing and good directions when you are out of cell range. Also, you can download routes on the CoTrex app, we used it on Imogene and Engineer.
@@PamStoltenberg I would recommend when school starts up, or right before school gets out. You need to always check to make sure trails are open. When we went it was so busy because of the Toyota events.

The tunnel is so cool, but there is nowhere to stop to take pictures, because the shelf is so narrow. Things get so much more sketchy on the descent.

I was there just last week. I drove Imogene pass from Ouray. Very nail bitting!

What time of year do you advise doing these trails. Prefer times of less traffic if possible.

@@BigAltitude970 thx, I'll try September
Not a hard trail. I completed it going the same direction in a 2016 Subaru Outback a day before the landslide closed it. 8/24.
