Great video! I have a question, though. It looks like you have the light green parking brake wire connected to one of the wires on the wiring harness. Does that mean that, in the Hyundai Tucson, an aftermarket radio will be able to detect whether the car is in park in order to give you access to certain functionalities that you wouldn't get while in drive, such as using the keyboard in a GPS navigation app, or would tapping into the car's parking brake wire still be required like in older cars? I ask this because the factory radio won't let you pair a new phone to Bluetooth unless the car is in park, so I would think there is an interface for that.
I know this vid is kind of old at this point, but I've got a '13 Tucson, so it should be a good place to ask. That surface mount double USB connector you used to replace the OEM outlet that was there ... what did you plug into the back of that? The radio itself has a fairly long USB cable that comes out of its back and is used to connect the mobile phone into the head unit to provide both power from the phone to the new radio (mine is an Alpine whose model # I cant recall at the moment ... I think it's an ILX-650. So the way my set up is, is that the long cable coming out from the back winds its way down and out from the dashboard more or less from the bottom and just hangs there, then when I get in the car I just plug it into the C port on the phone and everything works great, except I've got that long wire that just looks crappy. It that USB connection connected to the wire I'm talking about, so that I'd just plug a shorter wire into it and then at the phone, and transfer power and data through it that way? Thanks. Sorry for long description there.
Hi PB, I followed your video and order the parts on the description, could you please detail the wire connections on the PAC unit? I was reading the instructions and mentioned something about connecting two wires to the OBD2, please share the connections info
Hi Thank you for the video. I plan to replace my radio with a JVC model using the same accessories as you. But I have a question about the steering wheel controller; if I do not use a steering wheel adaptor as you did will I loose just the radio functionality or the cruise control as well? Thanks again.
Cruise control isn't connected to the adapter, thats separate. Heave over to sonic electronix and use their vehicle fit guide to see what options are best recommended for your setup. Use our coupon code to get 5% off at checkout.
Great how to vid. I have a 2013 also but looking to install a JBL BassPro SL2 sub. Would you know how I should run the power cable from the battery? Any specific spot in the firewall I should run it through? This is the first time doing something like this so a little gun shy. Thanks!
I'e got that exactly same problem. Haven't found a solution that works to keep the top piece down AND keep the gap closed, and of course the top piece does keep popping back up. I hate it, but I've learned to live with it. (And believe me, I've tried putting that top piece in from every angle I can get it worked into; it just doesn't want to mesh in nicely. I think the problem is in the Metra piece
I get the black antenna wire but what is the orange wire? I just installed a car stereo in my 2011 Hyundai Tucson and I couldn't find anywhere in my harness or the included cable to plug in the orange wire that came off the back of the stock unit.
Great video. My Tuscon factory stereo's microphone for bluetooth hands-free does not work, although the Bluetooth functionality works. (plays from my iPhone X okay). On this demo, did you run a new microphone cable, or use the one that was factory installed? I need to know if getting a new stereo will fix this mic problem or not. Thanks!
@@Iloveham757 You can buy any third party radio. But your steering wheel functions, bluetooth and audio may not work. 2011 has a dumb antenna connector.
Yes, as long as you use the Pac Audio RadioPro 4 RP4.2-HY11 interface, it will retain the factory camera with an aftermarket radio that has a reverse camera input.
Provo Beast Audio Installation why do you need the pac for the factory backup cam to work? Isn’t it just and rca? Same this for factory GPS and Bluetooth, do those work without the pac unit?
I have a 2011 hyundai tucson with factory navigation, factory subwoofer, factory amplifier. My connectors on the factory nav system are completely different then the 2 white ones as shown on yours. I cannot find the factory harness adapter anywhere. Any ideas on what to do?
Oh I have a 2010 and I'm going through the exact same thing. The bad thing about our car is the amp in the trunk powers all the speakers. So the wires from your doors go to the trunk, they plug into the amp where the signal is digitized and sent to the factory radio. Unfortunately most after market radios can't do anything with this digitized signal. So you have two choices, both of them suck. You can buy an after market amp, replace the factory amp and have it power all 4 speakers and the factory sub. You then have to route new RCA cables (2 red, 2 white) up to the radio and just use that. Or you can buy an amp bypass, which is what I did. It's Metra 70-7305. The wires coming off these are too short, so you will need to splice in more wires and run your 8 speaker wires up to the back of the radio. This took me about 6 hours last night, I'm pretty slow with this shit. You then need to tap into the factory harness for the other 8 or so wires you will likely need (power, illumumination, etc). Send me an email and I can send you pictures of what all the factory wires are for, most of them are on the 8 pin connector. Oh by the way, you also need to replace all the factory speakers because they are 2ohm as they were powered by the amp and most after market radios expect 4ohm. Overall I'd say it's a god damned nightmare.
I have a 2015 Tucson with factory backup camera. I installed a Pioneer MVH-1400NEX but cannot get my backup camera to turn on when reversing. I also have to the RP4.2-HY11 to keep steering controls which work. Did I just plug in the yellow input into the wrong port from the PAC to the back of the stereo?
Parts linked in the description of the video!
Wow!!!!!!! I usually update my car every 3-5 years but not this time. I have a 2013 Tucson and am soooooo excited. Thanks so much🥰
By any chance did you make a video of how you ran the amp power wire through the firewall in a 2010-2015 Hyundai tucson

Yeah im just gonna pay best buy. Ill definitely mess something up and ill be sitting there all day trying to put it back together
How did you connect the 2 wires to the ODBII port? PAC doesn't send an adapter for this, and it's just 2 stripped wires :-\

Hey did you ever get any progress on that? Got an aftermarket stereo and not sure how to keep the mic
What is the piece called that holds the radio together above hazard lights & where do I get it ?
Can you help me? If i wanna install it in my sonata 2010 which part you can recommended me?
I just got my sony apple play deck installed in my tucson and it looks like this I HATE how far back it sits!!!!! Why did hyundai do this

Great video guys

How do you run the mic & GPS (didn't show how to run) on 2011 Tucson GLS?
Can you not use the factory GPS antenna that came with the radio?
My guess is that this is the base model that doesn't have the GPS or back up camera from factory
very good thanks

There is a yellow cable in the back of radio . I can’t figure out how to get it off without breaking it.

My guess is it makes it higher, only by a little bit though
You didnt show your actual effort in opening it from the rear. Thats the most important initial step.
