Almost like some of my own parents 8mm movies. I enjoyed all of this and really like the part starting when timer is at 1:01. I remember and miss that. Thanks for keeping the forgotten legend alive.
Good to revisit via your video. My memories begin while residing on base at Lakehurst. Mooring lines sometimes snagged TV antennas, pulling them down. Made many regular trips to Seaside. Dad operated the Zipper ride, part time. Thought that was a ZPG ship. N class? Thanks for clearing that up in the description box. Great video, family film, and historical documentary.
I lived in Irvington and used to spend several weeks there in the Summer. I was there when the blimps used to patrol the beach! That was about the end of the blimp program when the Navy did away with the airships.
My dad flew in Navy blimps out of Lakehurst. He met my mom at a roller rink either in Tom's River or the Casino Rink... I was born in Tom's River... Grandpa Bennett built a lot of the bungalows in Seaside, was in the volunteer fire department and a commander of the American Legion Post 351 Seaside Heights, NJ.
Ahhhhh the days I remember going to sea side Heights this was when things were jumping and everything was thriving and now 2000-2017 everything is dying and sea side heights is no more! Very sad and its just proves were living in scary times right now and its even more scary now that is 2017 god knows what the future holds because I dont' think mankind is going to make it, I was at Sea Side Heights in the 80s and 90s were good times!
Not True...Not True...Well Sorta! ya know what it is it's the young punks from other towns and states that had made SeaSide a unwelcome place for a while but it has gotten better. You can still bring the family on a nice day and stay the night without any interaction with the freaks. You just need to know where not to hang around. I was there in the 60's when the Hell's Angles came from all over the country and there was less trouble then as there was in the 90's.
When I saw the Blimp it reminded me of the year my couldn't get enough pictures of Navy blimps.
The 70's were a great time to be there too.

The first time I went there was Summer 1961 when I was just eighth months old....so this was really fun for me to see. Thanks.
I grew up in Seaside Height NJ....this is wonderful! Thank you!

wow this is really cool to look back in time
Hmm ... good soundtrack--it does sound like vintage sounds of the time and place ... like AM radios on beach, blaring latest hits.

Okay spudz ... and great footage.
No actually it is 1961......the original film was shot on silent 8mm film, I added the soundtrack post production!
