I remember when I finally finished this zone, I remember putting my controller down and just saying "That's where I hang my cap. I will never be able to do that ever again. Thank you. Buh-bye."
I actually found this warp zone much harder than most of I Wanna Be the Guy. Generally IWBTG was tougher (not often in a good way) than Super Meat Boy, but it was rarely as ball-crushingly difficult as this warp zone.
The other thing about it is that the difficulty of this warp zone, despite its insane toughness, follows the Meat Boy difficulty formula: it's fair. This warp zone is the pinnacle of fair difficulty. IWBTG on the other hand is often unfair in its difficulty; shit happens with no warning often in really douchy spots.
I agree that this warp zone is fair... except for level 2. The disjointed hitbox on the spikes isn't really a problem anywhere else in the game, but it rears its ugly head here. Trying to maneuver between the narrow spikes on the thin platforms resulted in me getting killed by nicking the corner of the spike's tile, without even visually touching the sprite.
same well not exactly my game bugged so that i couldn't beat it anymore... this part is added later: I am the BIGGEST DUMBASS IN THE WORLD JUST USE THE SPRINT BUTTON ON THE THIRD LEVEL!!!!!!
@@louiswouters71 iwbtg is not hard. just annoying, and the difference is:in super meat boy the obstacles are predictable but still hard to dodge, and iwbtg is easy when you know what appears where
I agree it completely stressed me out like no other video game has. But once I got to the third level I was committed even if that meant finishing at 3am
I can honestly say this level pushed me to limits I didn't know were possible. FINALLY did it after soo much trial and error. Seriously guys big respect for any1 else who manages to complete this level, you've earned respect amongst gamer's everywhere!
This level was so much harder than your video makes it appear. My girlfriend almost walked out on me last night because I didn't want to come to bed until I finished all 3 levels. I got through the first 2 after struggling for hours, and was not about to leave super meat boy up over night. Last time I tried that, it froze.. My fingers are swollen and my thumbs are sore but I got THE GUY!
When I was doing this warp zone there was a momentary power loss after I finished first two stages... Fortunately I was able to re-do them in like 10 minutes because I still remembered timing.
this level is absolutely brutal; the thing that makes it so difficult is theres never a moment to stop, think, take a breath and gather yourself. The pressure never ceases.
I remember how I beat this zone 8 years ago, maan, I screamed of satisfaction after almost 3 hours of trying.. It was one of the most memorable experiences in gaming
there's something i found very helpful in the first level. at the beginning, you do not have to jump and fall in between the spikes, you can just walk off in the middle of them. you can still use 2 jumps when you fall, so you can walk off, at the bottom jump to the right and instead of landing on the wall in front of you you can jump again, to the left, and land on the second wall. that saves you a jump, and a little bit of time every time you try.
The first part of this warp zone was the first thing in any game to make me give up due to sheer difficulty. I might've saved a hard part of other games for the next time I played before this, but with this I really thought I couldn't do it. Two years later I came back and did all 3 parts of the warp zone in 2 hours, and man, while the third part is the easiest IMO, it killed my hands by the time I beat it.
Stage 1 needs a lot of precision and actually plays with the double jump mechanic, stage 2 is literally just elevator trials with a double jump in the middle, stage 3 I swear needs TAS level precision, you literally need to double jump to not get killed by the wall but you also can’t go into an obstacle while doing so, this warp zone was just an absolute hell of a nightmare to get through, and I am glad I have the character now.
Yes the spikes on the 3rd platform down makes no sense. The spikes are not out of the upper surface yet and still kill u somehow despite being in the middle or below. Something felt off about it.
Minene Uryuu922 (previously deaththekid922) Actually, this game is very easy on keyboard. Because there aren't any extra buttons, really, I've been doing well. 2 days and I beat the game, and am halfway through the replaying for full 100% on every world.
ragepoweredgamer Actually I've played the game through a second time using an Xbox One USB controller and it is far easier than using the keyboard, especially for certain Dark World levels in Rapture and Cotton Alley and, obviously, the kid. I've improved nearly all of my level times using the Xbox Controller. It is also near impossible to use characters such as Naija effectively using the keyboard.
Joshua Bruce Taylor Well I'm not THAT far, but due to replaying Shovel Knight, Crypt Of The NecroDancer, and many classic platformers on keyboard, I just like it a lot. Not that it replaces gamepad for all games, but the tactile, precise feeling of a mechanical switch just gives me very precise movements, and a finger for each key really helps. I find myself beating some parts based on audio, timing jumps by the sound the key makes when I bottom it out. Makes those levels where you die, (then 50 lives later, die at the second or third part, but can make it TO that part flawlessly) much easier for me. Also, the fine adjustments during tricky falls, where you just have to lightly tap both directions frantically, easier to manage going back and forth without sweaty hands being an issue. BTW, can I just re-mention how friggin' unfair "The Kid" is to get?!
After beating the guy warp zone over 20 times this is how my experience has been so far: The first time I beat the WZ it took me about 7 hours. The average time to complete the WZ seems to be somewhere between 5-7 hours (the first time). Anyone who says they did it under 3 hours : A) They are geniuses (which is very rare) or b) They are lying. Back then I found Stage 3 as the most difficult, then 2 and 1 (3>2>>1). The third time I beat the WZ, it took me about 2-3 hours, but now I found stage No. 2 as the hardest followed by 3 and 1 was the easiest. Now I can beat the warp zone in about 4-15 minutes. Now I am able to beat (sometimes) stage 1 and 3 without dying, but I still always die in stage No. 2. With my current experience I find stage 2 as the most difficult followed by stage 1 and now 3 is the easiest for me. IMO what makes stage 3 difficult is that you need good timing + skills. But when you become familiar with the timing this stage becomes much easier than stage 1 where you need more skills with the gamepad. But in stage two specially on the second and third elevators, you need tons of muscle memory to have the exact timing and not dying in the process. I would even say that you need an small percentage of luck to pull a deathless The Guy WZ feat.
Not lying, just did it in 2 hours. Have played the fist section b4 but it only took me like 40 min to beat it, then i saw the 2nd section and gave up. not anymore
Took me around 3 hours in the PC. I think the stage 2 is the easiest of them all, probably because I have more precision using keyboard keys rather than using a joystick (already played the game with both)

my god i just finished this warp zone today. i don't think i've felt such a combination of exhaust and relief since ornstein & smough. first one literally took me like 3-4 hours just by itself. i almost gave up but i kept making incremental improvements so i kept at it. then eventually i could get to the part where you stand on solid ground again and knew it was just a matter of time. 2nd and 3rd were much better. probably an hour and a half on 2 and maybe 45 minutes to an hour on 3. brutal f'ing warp zone but if i'm going to 100% this game then i needed to do it. plus it's nice to unlock the kid for some of the levels.

5 long hours of non stop gameplay. My thumbs were practically broken after that. I was so happy when I beat level 1 of it. But I didn't even know about the other two levels. It almost made me give up but I kept on trying and eventually I got the guy.
It took me 2 hours to complete the first level. I then cried when I saw there was a second level which I still cannot complete. Seeing there is a third level on this video has just ruined my life forever.
sorry for the old reply but path of pain took me multiple hours to do, but it still doesnt even compare to this- path of pain is easier than the first level
I'm positive this character unlock is NOT worth the torture of this level. If I ever meet the creators of this game I will punch them in the face and I'll sincerely mean it as a compliment.
I DID IT!!! Never was able to do it when I played it 5 years ago on the 360, but I did it today on the PS4 :) Took a little over an hour. As far as difficutly, I think the first level was the hardest, then the second, then the third.
+Flolaf Most annoying parts/most causes of death for me: First level-spike that sticks out to the right on the top right corner. Second level-spike that hangs down in the top middle AND going down the third elevator. Third level-jumping over the moving spike wall when you get up to the second platform. What about you?
+RedSoakedSponge Can you beat the first level? I was never able to beat the first level on the 360. So when I was able to beat it this time on the PS4, it gave me confidence to beat the whole thing. Also, if you need pointers, message me or something and I'll help you out :)
+Flolaf DANG!!! I'm stuck on the last level on Cotton Alley :( and yeah, the only world I've been able to beat all the way through without dying is the first one. Can't imagine beating some of the later levels without dying at all!
Kieran Toovey I DID IT! it took me all bloody day but i did it! yeah i didnt ever get past the first level on 360 but did this time just like you said :)
I just got The Kid. It took me 4 hours for stage 1. 1 hour and 30 min for stage 2. and 45 minutes for stage 3. Grand total of 6+ hours. I just can't even. I'm so happy but so crushed. I'm never doing that ever again. my god. Grats too anyone else who won that Warp Zone area and has the Kid/Guy. You guys are awesome. I'm very fatigued. and my hands are numb. Gonna go collapse now... HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGG "I am terrible at platformers lol"
3 hours later and it is done! Wow that was a pain in the ass. The third level wasn't nearly as difficult as the first 2 though. I'm convinced that those who are saying they did this with a keyboard are lying.
This all took me about 2 and a half hours to do, once I'd beaten the first level i knew i couldn't go back! Also, i love how accurate the depiction of "i wanna be the guy" is too. I will beat that game some day...
Most people I've heard talk about The Kid's stages say the first one is the hardest, but I didn't have much trouble with it, whereas the second one kept me there for a good bit and I just left my controller on the couch before continuing to tackle the third. I guess I'm just good at wall jump-esque shenanigans but bad at timing-based dodging maneuvers and the like.
I cried when I beat these levels. It took me 4 hours, and i didn't play this game for at least 2 weeks afterwards. I would avoid it completely if the kid weren't necessary to beat the dark world levels
Unlocked the kid 3 times now. Once on my friend's 360 (he called me cause he couldn't do it), once on my 360, and once on the PC version. I LOVE THIS GAME
It doesn't really look all that hard.. But then that's the same thing I thought about the game itself when I first saw the trailer before I played the game. Needless to say I was wrong.
Not the hardest, but the worst part of this level is that you dont spawn on the ground on stage 3. Its just annoying and makes the first jump timing harder unnecessarily
I spent maybe 4-6 hours on the first level in total. Usually I would try it for 20 mins, get frustrated and do a different level. When I finished everything in Rapture except the Kid levels I thought ,,Okay, I'm doing it. I don't care if it takes 5 hours of repeatedly dying, i'll give it all i have. Beat the first level in 25 mins, it was just purely muscle memory. The second one was, of course, hard, but I beat it in about 15 mins, I was amazed. The third one also took about 15 mins. Honestly I was expecting the second and third levels to be fuckin impossible, but compared to the first one, they were super easy. Once I beat all 3, I felt like I was God reincarnated as a gamer. I'm not, I kinda suck, but it was a nice thought. Well, now to do Dark World THE END. Wish me luck.
Thank you so much for making this video. It really helped me out a lot. One alteration I made is for the first level. Never run at all. After the second alternation spike climb. I hugged the bare left wall a little before attempting the drop in the upper right corner. I never had to run at all, so it made it easier to control my character.
Wow, this is a great video to study so that you can beat the Kid warpzone yourself. This actually shows some strategies with the jumping so that you might beat the level in your first several tries instead of taking the whole day to finish it.
Character Warp Zone 1 was easy enough especially considering the character's power Character Warp Zone 2 was kinda hard to manage but still easy Character Warp Zone 3 was really challenging especially in the final level Character Warp Zone 4 was kind of easy Character Warp Zone 5, I'll give you a description: It would be the first few and easiest levels in a game...if that game was Super Meat Boy with the Dark World becoming light world and a Darker World becoming the new Dark World with levels from the Expert Remix & Lime Key chapters online, with gameplay and traps resembling games like Cat Mario and the bosses taking on the same mechanics and difficulty of the Cavern level in the incredibly hard game Battletoads, also for each one of the 6 worlds you only had 10 lives and save points at the beginning of every chapter, forcing you to restart from the very beginning of it once you lose all 10, also with all your progress in that chapter deleted.
I remember when I finally finished this zone, I remember putting my controller down and just saying "That's where I hang my cap. I will never be able to do that ever again. Thank you. Buh-bye."
I said something very similar. Good riddance with this hell of a warp zone
Suddenly: A new chapter approaches!
(The End)
Exactly the same feeling. I put down my controller, still trembling, and thought to myself "so this is where the limits of my abilities were"
Imagine having just 3 lives for this like the other warp zones in the game
That would make it much, much more difficult. I would definitely give up
35 broken controllers. Bloody fists. Half working monitor.
Alt glitch wouldn't become a glitch, it would be a FEATURE
Actually, all of the character warp zones have infinite lives. Just sayin...
I was just gonna ask that lol.
The feeling you get the first time you make the last jump in level 1 is indescribable.
The sad thing? This is probably the most fair level related to the I Wanna Be series
Yeah, since it doesn't have unexpected traps
The creator of iwbtg says he wouldnt have made it this hard. He likes making the player die in a "funny" way, not just killing the player
This warp zone has acted as an advertisement against trying "I wanna be the guy"
Even sadder, the second level took me an hour because of the part where it goes down and you have to dodge the spikes at lightning speed.
Ive beaten IWBTG. This level is harder to me, still haven’t beat it
This warp zone is so wildly harder than the rest of the game it's nutz
It fits I Wanna Be The Guy perfectly

there's something i found very helpful in the first level.
at the beginning, you do not have to jump and fall in between the spikes, you can just walk off in the middle of them.
you can still use 2 jumps when you fall, so you can walk off, at the bottom jump to the right and instead of landing on the wall in front of you you can jump again, to the left, and land on the second wall.
that saves you a jump, and a little bit of time every time you try.
The music wasn't cheerful enough or alternatively, dramatic enough to capture the essence of I Wanna be the Guy
The first part of this warp zone was the first thing in any game to make me give up due to sheer difficulty. I might've saved a hard part of other games for the next time I played before this, but with this I really thought I couldn't do it.

Stage 3 is the easiest by far. But WAYYYYY to active. My hands were destroyed afterwards lol
Stage one took me a couple hours, stage two took me a day, and I’m doing stage three rn
Stage 1 took me like 10 minutes, 2 like 15, and 3 taking me almost 2 hours

First is hardest for me (i take somethings around 1h to do this level) then third, and the easiest is second it just took 10 minutes to do
The third lift down seems so hard because you're so used to the platform going up during the second lift with identical spike placement.

I can't believe I actually managed to beat these levels. It took so long. And then I did it AGAIN when I got it on Steam. What have I become?
I was at stage 3 and i wanted to let my Ps4 on over night... But then i just left the game... Without thinking now i need to do all over again Fuuuuuu.... *cries in corner*
I was on stage 2, and I wanted to leave my Xbox one on over night, so I did, 4 hours after before I went to bed, it turns out the Xbox automaticly turns off >:0
+XB1Gaming Creeper (XB1GC) it isnt that hard than you think... I tought i will never beat stage 1 again, but i did it in 10 minutes
JESUS just unlocked him, that feeling must've sucked since this takes a few hours
5 long hours of non stop gameplay. My thumbs were practically broken after that. I was so happy when I beat level 1 of it. But I didn't even know about the other two levels. It almost made me give up but I kept on trying and eventually I got the guy.
Grats!
0:22 I'm amazed that wasn't in IWBTG.
I did this for 3 hours straight without any breaks, niw my hands hurt
Me too, this level alone is harder than half of the game
Dude i cant even finish It and i have been trying for 1 year 😭😭😭
And this is when I said "nope" and started playing something else...
you wish
casual
It's just taken me SEVEN BLOODY HOURS to finish this warpzone.
It's stupidly difficult and unfair
This video helped me beat the third part lol
Agreed
Ironically the last level only took me 30 mins. But the other two levels took 2-3 hours each.
Fuck the second level, I want to scream
It took me 2 hours to complete the first level.
I then cried when I saw there was a second level which I still cannot complete.
Seeing there is a third level on this video has just ruined my life forever.
This level makes the path of pain look like a joke.
As someone who have done both the Path Of Pain and this warpzone, I can confirm (pd: I suffer in both, tho)
Yeah i beat PoP and the guy warp zone and i can confirm PoP is way waaay easier than this.
sorry for the old reply but path of pain took me multiple hours to do, but it still doesnt even compare to this- path of pain is easier than the first level
Finishing this level may have given me carpel tunnel
You are a god among men. I've been doing this for 5 fucking hours and I still can't get passed the first fucking stage. Fuck my life.
5 hours but still got it done. Time to sleep!
0:49 Oh God! That happened to me and I was swearing for an hour, but luckily, in the end I was able to beat these 3 levels. It was insanely hard.
I'm at the third level rn, holy crap the time window is thinner than a shaved cat
OMG I GOT IT. AFTER 2 HOURS!!!! FINALLY
I'm positive this character unlock is NOT worth the torture of this level. If I ever meet the creators of this game I will punch them in the face and I'll sincerely mean it as a compliment.
Amen to that. Sadistic!
+Kieran Toovey im struggling :( i didnt do it on 360 back when i played through the game then. i feel like ill never complete this on ps4 either! FML
0:47 just happened to me.
Edit; I beat this level but gave up on level 2.
Edit 2: beat it finally
too hard, i quit. cant pass first level. Q.Q
I stared at awe at how amazingly good this guy is at doing that warpzone. I would've gave up on it in seconds. Kudos to you. :O
used to be a nightmare, now i do this whenever i get bored
Coolmanone
HOW
Good sport. Can you rub it in and gloat more please for the others trying?
I just got The Kid. It took me 4 hours for stage 1. 1 hour and 30 min for stage 2. and 45 minutes for stage 3. Grand total of 6+ hours. I just can't even. I'm so happy but so crushed. I'm never doing that ever again. my god.
Grats too anyone else who won that Warp Zone area and has the Kid/Guy. You guys are awesome. I'm very fatigued. and my hands are numb. Gonna go collapse now... HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGG
"I am terrible at platformers lol"
Who else beat it with a keyboard?
Me
SuperWild1 me
Here here!
Yup
Remind me not to 100% this game ever again...
It looks like it should go 2, 3, 1; 2 seems easiest and one hardest. At least you get the worst one out of the way first. 😕
Yeah, I'm stuck at level one but I'm sure I can beat the other levels.
+Bruce Wayne Same 😕
+Liam Taylor, I actually think 2 is harder than 3 because the third elevator is a huge pain to do. It looks easy but its not.
as someone who's done all of them, 2 IS THE WORST ONE OF THEM ALL
+GD Donutpanda i agree, it looks deceivingly easy.
Level 2 is the absolute killer level
HOW
donutlover i beat is as well u know
broke 2 controllers playing this... the spikes are so god damn sensitive
i just completed this level and i have never felt more badass
i tired this for days
this is impossible
props to you for actualy making it 0_0
3 hours later and it is done! Wow that was a pain in the ass. The third level wasn't nearly as difficult as the first 2 though.
I'm convinced that those who are saying they did this with a keyboard are lying.
Oh i did it with a keyboard. I probably should of used a Xbox controller though. My poor hands lol
This all took me about 2 and a half hours to do, once I'd beaten the first level i knew i couldn't go back! Also, i love how accurate the depiction of "i wanna be the guy" is too. I will beat that game some day...
Finally beat it today after having my Play Staion on sleep mode for days
Most people I've heard talk about The Kid's stages say the first one is the hardest, but I didn't have much trouble with it, whereas the second one kept me there for a good bit and I just left my controller on the couch before continuing to tackle the third. I guess I'm just good at wall jump-esque shenanigans but bad at timing-based dodging maneuvers and the like.
this just made this game infinite times more awesome...
i wanna be the super meat boy.
I cried when I beat these levels. It took me 4 hours, and i didn't play this game for at least 2 weeks afterwards. I would avoid it completely if the kid weren't necessary to beat the dark world levels
he isn't necessary. . .......
It' frustrating for me see how someone beat this in two minutes, i have been trying for a whole year and i can't 😭
the best and most usefull trick for this warpzone is to not sprint at all in the first two levels
@ih8myusername When I did it, I was holding sprint the whole time on lv 1 and half of the time in lv 2 lol
This just took me about an hour to beat, and left me physically exhausted. Never play this level, kids
Unlocked the kid 3 times now. Once on my friend's 360 (he called me cause he couldn't do it), once on my 360, and once on the PC version. I LOVE THIS GAME
FINALLY I BEAT THE FIRST LEVEL! So, in order to continue I must wipe out all the sweat on my gamepad... wait, it's blood!
I finally beat this damn stage. When it was over, tears of joy and merriment were shed.
TRUE
Playing this again on PS4 reminds me why I never had the stomach to finish it on PC. Muscle memory is an interesting thing.
i didnt know god plays super meat boy...
Did it in 20 mins this time on steam, used a controller, that second level is so fucked up.
First time I did it took me like 2 hours on xbox
Thank you so much for making this video. It really helped me out a lot. One alteration I made is for the first level. Never run at all. After the second alternation spike climb. I hugged the bare left wall a little before attempting the drop in the upper right corner. I never had to run at all, so it made it easier to control my character.
Wow, this is a great video to study so that you can beat the Kid warpzone yourself. This actually shows some strategies with the jumping so that you might beat the level in your first several tries instead of taking the whole day to finish it.
You make it look so goddamn easy...
just cleared it.. my thumbs hurt so much
Character Warp Zone 1 was easy enough especially considering the character's power
Character Warp Zone 2 was kinda hard to manage but still easy
Character Warp Zone 3 was really challenging especially in the final level
Character Warp Zone 4 was kind of easy
Character Warp Zone 5, I'll give you a description:
It would be the first few and easiest levels in a game...if that game was Super Meat Boy with the Dark World becoming light world and a Darker World becoming the new Dark World with levels from the Expert Remix & Lime Key chapters online, with gameplay and traps resembling games like Cat Mario and the bosses taking on the same mechanics and difficulty of the Cavern level in the incredibly hard game Battletoads, also for each one of the 6 worlds you only had 10 lives and save points at the beginning of every chapter, forcing you to restart from the very beginning of it once you lose all 10, also with all your progress in that chapter deleted.
how the frick is Ogmo's WZ hard?
The only saving grace here is the fact you don't have to hear an obnoxiously loud guitar riff every time you die.
Why is it that from the looks of the levels the third one seems to be the easyest of the three? I cant even get past the first god damn level....
This hurt so much I can still feel the agony after a year, proud owner of ''the kid'' though :) ♥
For YEARS, I just couldn't hear him saying "Warp zone!" for some reason, and it was driving me mad!
