+ChineseSweatShoppe I see that more and more are asking for this, so I might actually do it eventually. I'll choose a different can this time though...
+DerKrawallkeks if you make it make it have a fuel injector so that you can run it longer and put a pump in to circulate the water trough a radiator this looks like a efficient water heater
Could you show us a tour of your workshop/tools? because it would be interesting to know how you are able to work so fine on small projects. Thanks and keep it up mate ;)
A miniature Bengazi! The real ones use a similar sized can filled with sand and petrol. It's placed under a 10 gallon barrel with an upturned funnel so the heat and fumes go through the centre of the surrounding water, heating it very quickly.
Wouldn't get 0 thrust? As there is only one hole for the air to enter and exit, forcing an equal amount of pull as there is push from the same side of the can?
I tried to makes a pulse jet out of aluminum cans much like this. I had two cans with the tops cut off and I slid them over each other. But when I put some methanol in and tried to light it, the cans would violently separate launching one into the air as a fireball. What did I do wrong?
Interesting setup! I have tried before to make a propane powered pulse jet and failed. Do you think that would be possible? I couldn't get it to work :(
If your looking on how to make or get a propane pulsejet working check out colinfurze's channel, he has a video on hydroforming one with a pressure washer (you gotta weld though) and in other videos he shows how to make the fuel line that goes inside it. He is alsp the same guy that has the world's fastest mobility scooter
@Anton Babiy I took a plastic pop bottle drilled the lid for my propane torch to go in pulled the trigger part way just for the gas let run a few seconds .. aimed up in the air out side.. cap of the bottle down ,, pulled the trigger the rest of the way .. it shot of with good distance ,, played around with how much propane .. but the BIG problem is too many timesof doing this it burned up my torch would night light any more with the elec start .. think the back flash from the bottle lighting burned the wires in my torch .. but was fun while it lasted .. too big a hole in lid and you don't get a good launch not enough gas in bottle it might just melt instead of launching .. don't do in a building flames are shooting from the pop bottle ..
What other fuels could I use? I mean i've got some RC fuel but it's expensive and I don't want to use it I'm gonna try some other cleaning things. With strong smells?
+Cooking With Cows Mostly because of the vapors inside the can, but also due to the fact that the chamber was so hot that the oxygen was getting thinner and thinner as the pulse jet run.
***** also because as the water heats the air does not readily cool and cotract in as much air causing the pulses to slow. can you try this with very cold water next time?
+cps gaming theoretical yes so long as you can find a way to keep the can cool a can pulse jet relies on the vacuum created when the hot gases cool which pulls in fresh air and vaporizers the fuel repeating the cycle
No, I don't think anybody has ever tried to heat water with just a flame, only pulse-jets are proven to heat water so far but maybe a scientist will try one day.
This one works on any percentage of rc nitro fuel. The greater the percentage, the easier it will be to start and have a generally better performance over any other alcohol type of fuel...
E Saunders They do. In fact i did some horizontal experiments and it propelled itself forward, but it doesn't mean that it can lift a flying vehicle though...
hi, been watching some of your vids, like the turbine with the water, and the turboprop / fan engine.. nice work... hey, can you tell me how this thing worked? i know very little about pulse jet, like they need an air intake, and then they close the intake, and burn the fuel air in the compartment, and it shoots through the exit nozzle. but this thing, dosent have an intake, is it working on the air that was in the can already?
Hi John, do you think it would be possible to adapt it to a vehicle and use a simple feeding system, like an one-way valve at the bottom of the can to feed the engine ? It would be interesting though. Nice video btw.
+Dashz The concept is interesting, but I think that even the slightest restriction in the flow of the pulsejet makes it shut off. It needs to run without any obstacles in its output. I hope I helped you...
I believe what Im thinking of would not disturb the output, maybe the pulse, but is all about trying it. :0 gyazo.com/1fd82845563a0b8c0ad88221319b8813 Yes, 4 years old kid draw, but I know you get the point.
+Dashz the fuel tank would have to be pressurized at a constant pressure throughout the whole cycle, maybe hook it up to a large air tank with a pressure regulator?
Very impressive burn time!
Thanks;) Nitromethane really does help on that!
hi
Can a match box?
+Alex Peters no but A TIN CAN
bu dum tss
My left ear really enjoyed this video.
what about your right ear?
+Jude Corby It is a half broken headset I think. Like mine.
+Schinken LP no its not its the audio track
+ William Haney wow
+Gandilo Gamer yeah...
How did you fit the Mazda in the can?
xD
Dorrito can lmao
The real question is how did Mazda market a pulse jet as a wankle in a race car
colin furze would be proud
true.
A mini Jettle
+James Richards Especially because Furze is the German word for (i am) farting, which is what this sounds like.
That's what it sounds like in my bathroom after I eat my wife's burrito's.
σερπαντινα δηλαδή...
😂😂😂 im fucking dead!
Shanon Leffler so is his toilet
High Desert A I hope that she doesn't see this
JesusIsMyDad11 I just showed her the video and my comment. She said, "It really does sound like that." Lol!
Sounds almost like a pissed off rotary engine at idle.
yep
My standard bmw sounds like this when you start it from cold 😂 i like it though. Car is new as well
+RLDproductions Every RX7 ever.
sounds more like a 2 stroke bike with the clutch open at full rev
maybe 500cc with custom exhaust
It sounds like a top fuel dragster scaled down into a chainsaw... Lol
2:04 VTEC KICKED IN YO!
That's actually a really cool solution to keeping the engine cool, too. I imagine that a long enough burn can cause the engine to melt.
sounds like a honda
+ImSaltyAFRightNow lol yeah
+ImSaltyAFRightNow Sounds like a fart can (On a Honda)
+The Jolly Troller no.
Vtec
+Y&H Rider no
sounds like a rotary
My left ear enjoyed the left-ear-only-ASMR.
People say in the can there is a very angry goblin who shouts at people who anger it.
My left ear loved this video
After 10 different tries I finally got it to sustain using your measurements
Finally found the engine in a Honda Civic at 3am
That's a cool measuring tool! And the engine is also cool too! That is the most simple engine I have ever seen!
Can you redo this and place everything on a scale, zero it out then light it to see what kind of force you are getting from the thrust?
+ChineseSweatShoppe I see that more and more are asking for this, so I might actually do it eventually. I'll choose a different can this time though...
+johnnyq90 yes please! I'd love to see this dude :)
And turn off stereo recording so more than one of my ears hurts
My left ear thoroughly embraced this video.
Will it work with air refreshener which is flammable?
& this.. is the most powerful honda engine. V-TEC KICKED IN YO!
Not i think sound like rotary engine
All your videos rape my ears. I still enjoy them.
+Emil Nylander Haha thanks I'll take your comment as a compliment;)
I watch enough dank memes for this content to be tolerable in terms of noise.
Lenny God, same...
Emil Nylander asmr for men
@@johnnyq90 Of course it was a compliment silly
my left ear loved this vid
Nice project, i'll have to try that;)
What happens without the cooling, does the can melt?
I don't think it would melt, probably because the combustion can't last long enough without cooling to actually melt it...
okey;)
+DerKrawallkeks if you make it
make it have a fuel injector so that you can run it longer
and put a pump in to circulate the water trough a radiator
this looks like a efficient water heater
Sounds good;) but i think it produces a lot of hot gasses, which is unsued energy. Well.. it's used for awesomeness, which is actually a good use :D
i also once wanted to try it
but i forgot about it XD
Could you show us a tour of your workshop/tools? because it would be interesting to know how you are able to work so fine on small projects. Thanks and keep it up mate ;)
My left ear really enjoyed this video
was the water for active cooling, or to show that it can be the world's loudest water heater?
wow. that's really effective if you want to boil a tiny amount of water!
Thank you for not going overboard with the intro animation.
Please explain what and why it's happening
The nitro fuel you use acts as its own oxidizer so the combustion is happening inside of the can not outside, pretty kewl tho
best homemade pulse jet. Thanks for the dimensions.
Quickest kettle ever 10/10 would make coffee.
This is gonna be my new Potatoe boiler.
Johnny: The inventor the engineers kettle
that sounds like The engine of my old Renault 6 1978... cool video
Awesome use of the pulse jet.. i thought the same after watching the 1st vid of it
Title should be "Boiling water with pulse farts"
Can he put alcohol?
Makes instant coffee faster than any microwave
2:03 this is the part you run from a taco bell store
What will happend if you keep refuling it from the bottom or fuel it with oxygen?
2:10 when I eat burritos.
Sounds like a badass idling V-12
The can turned into a blue gem (CS:GO Joke)
xD😂😂😂😂😂
Sounds like the longest fart ever recorded.

Wouldn't get 0 thrust?
As there is only one hole for the air to enter and exit, forcing an equal amount of pull as there is push from the same side of the can?
look do i have to do every single think u did or i can make some change and if i do wat gona happen will it blow or melt wat gonna happen?
When was the fuel source explained, or could it be shown for the pulse jet engine? Thanks.
Is the water nessisary to cool it or will it run properly without water?
sem uma palavra e muito bem explicado..obrigado
What altitude do you you live at? Water at 1 standard atmosphere boils at 100 C. This was boiling at like 87 C.
Agree about the left ear thing, nitromethane burns white/clear. Found out the hard way lol
Great water heater, if you don't mind the NOISE
I tried to makes a pulse jet out of aluminum cans much like this. I had two cans with the tops cut off and I slid them over each other. But when I put some methanol in and tried to light it, the cans would violently separate launching one into the air as a fireball. What did I do wrong?
Make sure the cans hold together
Interesting setup! I have tried before to make a propane powered pulse jet and failed. Do you think that would be possible? I couldn't get it to work :(
Actually yes, but i've never made it to run though, it would only pop and nothing more. I'll try it again in the future for sure.
***** Yeah, same here. Just a single pop and then a constant flame out the top.
If your looking on how to make or get a propane pulsejet working check out colinfurze's channel, he has a video on hydroforming one with a pressure washer (you gotta weld though) and in other videos he shows how to make the fuel line that goes inside it. TekCast Porkchop
That is a bit of a different pulse jet. It gets much hotter and louder.
Try adding a liquid fuel supply from bottom
What other fuels could I use? I mean i've got some RC fuel but it's expensive and I don't want to use it
I'm gonna try some other cleaning things. With strong smells?
was the fuel empty after this or did it just slow down because of the vapor in the air from the bubbling water displacing oxygen?
+Cooking With Cows Mostly because of the vapors inside the can, but also due to the fact that the chamber was so hot that the oxygen was getting thinner and thinner as the pulse jet run.
***** also because as the water heats the air does not readily cool and cotract in as much air causing the pulses to slow. can you try this with very cold water next time?
+johnnyq90 but if u had a ine putting more fuel into it it would stay running as long as the fuel tank is full right??
+cps gaming I meant line not ine
+cps gaming theoretical yes so long as you can find a way to keep the can cool a can pulse jet relies on the vacuum created when the hot gases cool which pulls in fresh air and vaporizers the fuel repeating the cycle
Pretty cool but would it still work if you just burned the fuel in the can without the pulse jet?
No, I don't think anybody has ever tried to heat water with just a flame, only pulse-jets are proven to heat water so far but maybe a scientist will try one day.
Can I get the same results with another fuel source or no?
im curious can you put it on a scale and see how much or if any thrust it produces
How come the mix doesn't explode but burn off relatively slowly through the hole??
Does this work with diesel?
no!!
how does it work if you fill it up 50% versus 5% as you do in the video?
+GranVlog Probably not enough air, mate. The stoichiometric ratio has to be just right.
Nice work man
What if you connect it with an automatic air refreshener?
And hack the time cycle so it will spray much quicker?
good for my chemistry project
Hmmmm so I don’t have 20% nitro mines a little bit higher is it going to affect it?
Can a Match Box? No, but a tin can!
lol it sounds like a rich RC nitro car
Is it working on some kind of alcohol, or only on nitro fuel? Im trying on moonshine, and it was blow out.
This one works on any percentage of rc nitro fuel. The greater the percentage, the easier it will be to start and have a generally better performance over any other alcohol type of fuel...
Do these one-hole jamjar jets actually produce any thrust or does the intake equal the out-take?
E Saunders They do. In fact i did some horizontal experiments and it propelled itself forward, but it doesn't mean that it can lift a flying vehicle though...

whats ur profile pic lol
It reminds me of a v1 rocket
I tried. But it's exploded. The top can cover flew away woth a very loud boom ! (Edit : i used alchohol).

the v rockets used a pulse engine
what kind of cans did you use specifically?
Is tin magnetic ?
Sure is. Learned that accidentally with an Altoids tin.
can this be done using a different fuel?
good for camping
congrat you just made engine from V1 rocker :D
that's a quick way to make tea
thought there was something wrong with the sound til you lit it , i shit my self was not expecting that to be so loud !
Uses Panzer tank engine as washing machine motor.
lovin that left audio
Please explain 25% nitro fuel, is it diluted with something?
Quintin Keynel 25% nitro in the fuel
@Quintin Keynel: The rest is methanol. 2-stroke fuel also contains synthetic oil for lubrification.
Hello johnnyq90, this was a great vid., I shall share it with my students! Good job with the measurements et al. pierre from New Mexico
would it produce any thrust?
I wonder how much kw can this burner push compared to a normal alcohol burner?
What type of cans are you using?
to kill it, do I just cover the top or let it run out of gas?
My right ear is jealous!!
what other fuels can be used ?
How much of a risk do I take to this thing exploding
2:05 when da bass drop
nice to know pulse jets sound like ported rotary's
