    I tried to makes a pulse jet out of aluminum cans much like this. I had two cans with the tops cut off and I slid them over each other. But when I put some methanol in and tried to light it, the cans would violently separate launching one into the air as a fireball. What did I do wrong?

      @randytravis3998 2 года назад

      @Anton Babiy I took a plastic pop bottle drilled the lid for my propane torch to go in pulled the trigger part way just for the gas let run a few seconds .. aimed up in the air out side.. cap of the bottle down ,, pulled the trigger the rest of the way .. it shot of with good distance ,, played around with how much propane .. but the BIG problem is too many timesof doing this it burned up my torch would night light any more with the elec start .. think the back flash from the bottle lighting burned the wires in my torch .. but was fun while it lasted .. too big a hole in lid and you don't get a good launch not enough gas in bottle it might just melt instead of launching .. don't do in a building flames are shooting from the pop bottle ..

  • @CookingWithCows
    @CookingWithCows 8 лет назад

    was the fuel empty after this or did it just slow down because of the vapor in the air from the bubbling water displacing oxygen?

    • @johnnyq90
      @johnnyq90  8 лет назад +2

      +Cooking With Cows Mostly because of the vapors inside the can, but also due to the fact that the chamber was so hot that the oxygen was getting thinner and thinner as the pulse jet run.

    • @mysticinsight496
      @mysticinsight496 8 лет назад

      ***** also because as the water heats the air does not readily cool and cotract in as much air causing the pulses to slow. can you try this with very cold water next time?

    • @captainpickle
      @captainpickle 8 лет назад

      +johnnyq90 but if u had a ine putting more fuel into it it would stay running as long as the fuel tank is full right??

      +cps gaming I meant line not ine

    • @mysticinsight496
      @mysticinsight496 8 лет назад

      +cps gaming theoretical yes so long as you can find a way to keep the can cool a can pulse jet relies on the vacuum created when the hot gases cool which pulls in fresh air and vaporizers the fuel repeating the cycle

  • @katzen3314
    @katzen3314 8 лет назад

    • @johnnyq90
