In this video I give you a high-level overview and review of the Raddy RF320 Portable Shortwave Radio. Because the Raddy RF 320 is virtually exactly the same as the Retekess TR112 Shortwave radio, this is like a 2-for-1 video review. Both of these shortwave radios are small, portable, and easy to use and are very capable shortwaves that will let you listen to both local AM/FM as well as VHF, weather-band and shortwave frequencies.

As a grand master Morse code tier 0 operator I can confirm the Morse code on start up says “Be sure to drink your Ovaltine”
Hahahaha😁
Don’t shoot your eye out 😂🤣
And I'm old enough to remember Ovaltine! I'd forgotten it. Thanks
Close. No it was asking a question. It was saying "Did you grab my ass?"
@@onetransmission7871 ~ and *Tang*, cause the Astronauts drink it 🤣
As a licensed HAM Special Technician for 30 years I haven’t known the touch of a woman since mom kicked me out of her basement.
I'm a licensed ham and I own 2 businesses and 3 homes.
😢
@@Bryan-HensleyBut the question is, do you live in the basement of one of those homes? 😉
@@Bryan-Hensley You failed mention the touch of a woman....
I heard if you go to some bars, there's plenty of basements to choose from.
Excellent radio for listening to electric noise coming from all the switching power supplies in my home.
Sounds like you've got some electrical issues in your place
Ah, so true. Light dimmers mostly in my case.
I own one of these already and one point that was missed is that when the radio is plugged into a PC, it can be used as a wired PC speaker and files can be transferred as well. Hands down it's one hell of a radio for all that it can do.

Ok, the apps on your phone had me rolling....well played sir, well played.
didn't notice that the first time I watched 😂
Love the simple touches Randy puts into his videos. Randy's everchanging phone apps are legendary. 😂
I choked on my breakfast when I saw the PH app.
I once had a shortwave radio. It was large. It had a speaker. It had moveable knobs. Sometimes I would move the knobs and noise would come out of the speaker. That is all. Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment, Randy
Another frank and honest review from Randazoo, the bane of Sad Hams everywhere! Gee, do I miss the good old days of lots of SW stations and low sunspot activity.
This reminds me of a radio that I had in the 70s. I used that radio a lot. This is a great radio for someone just starting out.
panasonic rf-2200?
Key word: "ORCHESTRATED" ...and that is why, you are: THE MAN!
I read the code as CQ witch is a call to any one that wants to talk Thanks for your informative video's and I do enjoy your style of humor
Looked at these radios on Amazon and there are a bunch of brands that use exactly the same form factor. Looks like the main difference is the color of the lighting. Thanks for the review.
I appreciate that Randy has used some of the monies that he received from his members to buy a third pencil. Treat yo self!
Randy, I believe that Power-Up Morse Code was an attempt at 'CQ' the general call on Ham and CB but if that's what it was, they cut the first dash in 'C' to a dot and it sounds more like an 'F' so 'FQ' 🤣. This is going to confuse the sad hams for sure!
BTW - I was hoping for 'F-U' lol 😂
C is dah dit dah dit but I heard AQ
@@jerrykr7kz just checked again, pretty sure I am hearing di di dah dit...
Maybe someone else can lend us their ear 👂.
Although I still think it was an attempt at 'CQ'... But maybe AQ would be more appropriate.. isn't that the Asperger's and Autism Quotient? 🤣 You know I've got the d@mn 'Tisms' 😜
I have a friend who wrote a song using the Morse Code rhythm in which the length of the notes spelled F*** YOU (. . - . . . - - . - . - . - - . - - - - - . . -). It was a catchy little tune and you have no idea that the mushy puppy love type lyrics hid a sinister message ;)
PS: I am a ham, but I'm not sad!
It says FJB
@@kendebusk2540 If you are not 'Sad' are you Happy?
When I was a kid happy and Geh were the same thing! 😂
Oh and yeah... I am of the Extra-Sad variety. So obviously I am the ultimate arbiter of all things radio. Hehehe
(Did that make me sound important?)
I believe the morse code is "CQ" which is how ham radio operators call on the shortwaves when they want to talk to other ham radio operators. 🙂 73 de WB4DW
You don't say.
7:44 for some reason, the radio says "FQ "when you power it on. I think that is actually supposed to be "CQ "but the first bit gets truncated, and it turns the sea into an F. I don't know what FQ means, but sounds vaguely menacing.
I've recommended your channel 3 times in the last week. Keep up the good work.
What an exquisite set of writing implements you displayed so gracefully....
They are not positioned correctly, they are set at an angle to the vertical.
The chewed pencil with the broken tip is class.
Question is are you licensed to operate that short wave radio?
We don't need no stinkin license! 😂
There is no licensing for receivers, if you think about it really how could there be?
The 27 likes to an absolute dumb asked question is so telling...Hope he pins this so everyone can read it and get a lower IQ...
Anyone can receive (listen)… It takes a specific license to be able to transmit (speak).
This radio would be perfect for camping. Hang the long-wire in a tree, bluetooth your favorite songs and SW stations from your phone without leaving your camping chair and beer. All set!
You're a genius!! A speaker that has a purpose
This is not going to make the HAMs sad. That makes me sad.
😂😂
I’m sure they’ll find something to be sad about, don’t worry
Ah in another 10 years there will be nothing but Happy Hams, such as myself, out there. I got into it for the digital modes and have a tendency to lean towards HF radio. Be surprised how far 100 watts and a wire can reach, even if theres just another idiot on the other end!
I watch these videos with my granddaughter!
Looks like a nice starter rig for a child. Love the Mr Rogers style for the kids.
I already have one, but the smaller one, just ordered this one. Thanks 😊
Another great review. Just received mine and I'm already enjoying it. At first, it was a bit tricky trying to set it up as the directions were OK, but not great. But, as you said, this is a great little radio at a very reasonable price.
For that price, get them in pairs. Often, interesting hf or air coms are on separate in-out frequencies.
Hi all: Just purchased the RF-320 based on your RUclips video. Anxiously awaiting its arrival. Nice presentation. I love these type radios. I have the ATS25 that's NOT bad. The FM on it is amazing since it has a remarkable speaker. Thanks again for your site, etc. Rich - W2FKN
I remember listening to shortwave as a kid on Saturday nights. (this was the 60's and the TV was a piece of furniture) So I might get one for shits and giggles.
Great review 😊.. i will now be purchasing this radio.. and subscribing.. a very refreshing, entertaining and factual channel 🎉 cheers🛀🏾
These are pretty neat. I have an old Grundig Pocket World radio and while it is also not super powerful it sure pulls in some weird SW on nights out in the desert.
I got an old grundig yacht boy 400 and managed to get a broadcast from Ukraine in the midwest US. It's pretty fun just hunting for interesting broadcasts.
I love the background pictures. Just one to set off another group every video. Love it.
I like C.Crane's CC Skywave SSB because it has AM/FM, Shortwave, Aviation, Weather, VHF and SSB but it's a bit pricey at $ 170.00 range although, it's packed with functionality and the reception performance is above average.
Nobody asked, or cares what you like. But, thanks for watching!
@@TheNotaRubicon 🤣
Good for you buck-o
jajajajajajajaja@@TheNotaRubicon I like more Pamela Anderson
STOP SHOWING NEW FUN RADIOS!!!! I KEEP GOING OUT AND BUYING THEM!!!
I am sold on it will buy one thanks
I'm sad it only allows 955 favorite channels. I want to be able to assign each frequency to it's own favorite, because I love them all, and this breaks my heart.
Sadly, now I'm getting really in to SWL, USB and LSB is a must. Real shame because the look of it is great but I just wouldn't be able to justify the jump in price over my very capable Retekess VR-115 paired with a Tecsun Pl-368 as a recording setup. Line in is a great feature and makes a difference when using Morse Expert for CW decoding.
Very nice Shortwave little radio Not as small as RF75A you did a video on but I like it this Model The app seems the same as RF75A Shortwave radio 8:53 @NotaRubicon Productions
Great for an old guy who likes radios.
Thats a cool little radio im gonna get a couple of these
BRO! Did you just say "When the suns not heating up the FIRMAMENT"!?? OMG I love it! 🤣SUBSCRIBED!!
You should absolutely subscribe. He’s like the best flerf in the game except for FlatOut.
Well I have to get me one of those. Love it Rzndy. Thanks , keep the videos coming brother.
I have the Retekess version, it's a nice little radio and the speaker is excellent for its size.
This radio looks like a lot of fun and a great emergency tool.
Hell yeah. I'm gonna get one.
Thank you for listening and including the subliminal Easter eggs for my amusement.😊
A thumbs up from your favourite H.A.M. viewer.👍🥚🤠
Love the shirt!
The app interaction looks awesome. :-)
I just got one last week. Not to bad
The chicks were impressed. Thank you sir 😂
Love the apps on your phone.. Best channel on the tube.
The best ham radio expert for the boof wang
I think Trump also transmitted on ham frequencies with out a license.
😂
Excellent as usual!!!
Great review and I bought one for emergencies.
I'm still laughing at the apps on your phone.. Bravo!
You're so based and got me interested in radio, thank you sir o7
"...when the sun is not heating up the firmament." Thanks - pretty much lost my coffee there!
I have a few shortwave radios, next to a police scanner. Sometimes i perfer listening to them, its what got me interested in all radio even GMRS and Amateur Radio
Great content as always.
Thank you for the great review 👍🏻
Love your shirt, by the way!
I see a Quansheng UV-K5 IN your future but "some people" will lose their minds over it.
Pretty cool lit'l gadget ! Thanks for the review. ...Alan 🇨🇱
I literally have one of these arriving today from the jungle website.
Lack of SSB is of course unfortunate but in this price range still expectable. But for what you are usually gonna listen to with this radio, it doesn't matter anyway. You can tell it's not meant for HAM listeners in mind. The Radio Recording function sure is a great feature and something i'd actually expect on most of these radios that read Audio files from USB or Micro SD storagemedia. It's sadly still very rare to find.
Can you review the Raddy RF919? Looks like a cool product and your opinion on it compared to this one could be valuable.
Love your videos.
It's a good review of a nice compact radio.
Actually, the shortwaves bounce off of the dodecahedral earth. The dodecahedron provides many surfaces for the signal to bounce. The multi-surface earth provides optimal cooling for optimal signal capture. We are in a 3-dimensional plane of the 4-dimentional dodecahedral earth.
Great Video! You Rock Dude!!
🔥 review Randy
I enjoyed your video.
Thank you
Very nice very nice thank you I got in late to see the video❤
Interesting Apps on your phone there Randy. LOL. Great review.
That coded sound, it says nice hand model Randy
My new favourite channel 😎
You actually can use side bands, in my country it is a free frequency at 138.2MHz that can be received by a baofeng ham radio.
did that picture hang itself
I’ll check out the temperature of the firmament, tomorrow morning. 😂
Whoops, you finally answered it.
Awesome little radio... in my opinión they should have made it with standard AA batteries... only because in a shit hit the fan scenario there won’t be any Amazon to order new ‘specialized batteries’ from...
Looked like a standard 18650 battery, there are tons of devices out there that take them. I own 3 or 4 flashlights that use that battery.
I'm curious if BatteriesPlus stores usually stock them..... to buy..... not to steal during SHTF
A true “SHTF” prepped person would have already secured a bank of those batteries and purchased a bandolier to wear with the aforementioned surplus batteries ready to deploy. THIS also would be a tasteful fashion accessory useful in chick impression endeavors.
The Amazon is the biggest supply chain in the world. Bloke next door says it's in brazil.
In case of SHTF you can get these from other devices, even some electric cars! Otherwise you can rig 3AA in series externally.
It does look fun!
Now that you’ve owned it for awhile, how do you rate it now? Is it worth the price?
I dont want a short waves radio, but I watched the whole video anyhow 😏
I want to get a short wave radio to try to listen to the infamous UVB-76.
You are living legend :)
I nearly died at the apps LOL
I have some baofengs amd got my whole family set up for emergencies j.i.c this one has me interested as well
Great shirt😊
Would've been nice to hear it.
Pretty awesome pic behind you, it is always a surprise.
I think SW combined with GMRS is a good idea for that bad day we hope never will happen. I am comfortable with the many options you have reviewed for the GMRS RADIOS (I have a Bao Feng hand held HAM but no license to go with it). There is a wide price range between the SW radios you have reviewed. Is there some thing in between these 2 good “toy radios” and the $500 radio you reviewed? Thanks. KJ
11:59 "Usually the nighttime is a much better time for receiving than daytime. Obviously this is how the radio waves bounce off the surface of the 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁 Earth at night when the sun is not heating up the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁." Please tell me you said this tongue in cheek and don't think the Earth is really flat!
I’m just here for the hand strap handling
The repeated use of the word “large” is particularly hot. Especially while pointing to the black knobs.
Watched on Rumble but had to come here to see the pinned comment. 😆
I want a shortwaves radio because i don't need a shortwaves radio.
I wouldn't say that the lack of SSB makes it "totally useless" but it does make it less appealing 😛I can see it being quite useful for camping/hiking.
As soon as he said no SSB I was out, there are other relatively inexpensive SDRs out there that would be better albeit slightly more expensive.
Oh great SSB lets listen to random dudes talking about the weather and whats for dinner to other random dudes lol no SSB blah blah blah 😝
It looks like the old Sanyos of the 70’s
