- Cassidy Hutchinson, a key aide in Donald Trump’s White House, told the House committee investigating the violent Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection on Tuesday that Trump was informed that the supporters he addressed that morning had weapons but he told officials to “let my people in” and march to the Capitol.
Until I see them put someone of importance in jail this is all a show.

Did I hear correctly in that her testimony was based on what she was told by someone else? That she wasn't there in person? That is usually considered hearsay, but in this type of hearing I'm not sure. What did I miss?
1. "heresy" is irrelevant, since this IS NOT a trial. 2. She is recounting conversations she had with other people and things people said to her. I'm not sure what you think is going on.
You are correct, one of the pieces of information she shared was essentially hearsay. It is allowed here because it isn't a court of law. She made it clear that she was present for several other aspects of her testimony, but for this incident she was just hearing about it from others (1 of whom was involved in the incident) and not a personal witness to it. We now need to wait to see of those 2 men actually come forward to testify and formally dispute that claim.

CBS also has posted this story. But news reports are not hearsay, but quotes with a source.
So far everything I have heard from Hutchinson has been hearsay. On top of that she never claims to remember what was said. "someone said something to the effect of". She claims to remember "effect of" but not what was actually said.

How can you testify to something you did not witness?
Herman P Snelling I'm sure it's done all the time. Since this is a hearing and not a trial it's more likely admissible, but I think they will try and should try to get firsthand testimony to back up what she has said.
The parts where she isn't a firsthand witness (most of it she is), she's name dropping a whole lot of people who _are_ firsthand witnesses who can then be called in -- most of whom are now likely in negotiations with the committee and/or DOJ, and may be under threat against testifying because Trump's circle has been blatantly tampering with witnesses ever since Manafort and Gates were arrested all the way back in 2017. This is exactly how investigations into criminal enterprise networks work all the time, including Nixon's -- those early witnesses included a lot of mid-ranking secretaries and counsels who exposed what they overheard from their employers and got higher-ranking people in the hot seat later.

I always knew someone would have the courage to do the right thing. I truly believe that if you see something, say something and then write it down. Take notes with date and time and if possible take a picture or record it. I never allow people to call me a lie, when I know I can prove it. The bombshell isn't actually about his temper display in the car. I mean, if true, then it does show he was becoming unhinged, but that isn't really the important information. The fact that she heard the president say he knew there were armed individuals in the crowd, he didn't care because they weren't there to hurt him, and that he then encouraged them to go down to the Capitol. That is so much more significant. I wonder why they haven't denied any of that and continue to just focus on the car incident.

So let me get this straight: the presidential limo is custom built to protect the president at all costs.
