I've had this amp for about 2 years & it is hands down the best piece of musical equipment I've ever owned. Not just great for the beginning guitarist to develop a good sense of rhythm playing to the backing tracks, but also a fantastic song writing tool! I start with a basic drum pattern, add riffs, vocal bits as I go along & you've got a rough demo you can transfer directly to your computer via the outputs. I added a foot switch for the wah & easy switch-ups. Love the effects & drum beats!
I own this amp and I honestly don't see how any other amp tube or solid state can beat its tone. This amp does so much. You can rearrange your favorite guitar presets and tweek them saving them and putting them in order on the line 6 guitar pedal control. Drums can be slowed down and speeded up as can the recorded backing tracks. You can actually change the backing tracks key to suit your fancy, although it will slow it down or speed it up. The effects are impressive. One thing I would change is putting chorus on a knob by itself. Once someone uses and learns all this amp can do, I don't see how any other amp can compare in the $300 to $700 price range.
Did anyone else absolutely LOVE his playing?! He was so emotional, eyes closed, body loose, and just SHREDDING to his own made track? Put a smile on my face for sure.
Nah you dont know what im thinking . Im very glad you have a good feel for guitars. Great demonstration, editing and your right hand is rare 10% play that way. Video #5. First 4 could play but no feeling at all.
thanks for sharing your tips on this insane amp. New to playing and looks like I've got the hottest thang out right now. Great instruction on usage ! and super strat playing. The way you sped it up and slowed it back down was cool.
can you record on there and not have to use any of their loops? Or could I record with a drum loop just for time keeping then cancel the drum out so im left with just my guitar track?
I've had one of these things for a whiile now and the drum tracks are awesome, writing original songs come just naturally for me at least. By not putting the songs to "internal" on the amp and saving the mix on my SD card I can write forever and never permantly use up the 30 minute time limit on the amp.
I had not thought about that trick for the bass I didn't think you could do that with that amp thanks for that tip. all I got with the amp was an pamphlet. Great Video ;)
What drum setting did you use??? That sounds like a nice gentle beat to work on playing lead guitar. I know it has been a few years and you may not remember... You did a great job!
okay so I have been working with a spyder jam for about 6years and if you get a decent little powered speaker and run RCA output of the amp you can truly hear your recording,s and play back is dynamic enuff to create a full lead rythem and even do subsequent fills the am does a lot also my older spyder jam developed a rattle check you speaker mount screws they may have loosend and any speaker too cab space can cause a rattle and or buzz
I just wanna know how to import a track to play with internal drums or jam track....the instructions claim you can but if there are instructions...it must be invisible.
I've got a spider 5 and I've been told you can't change the tempo of the drum loops which I think is backwards for a newer version why change things that are good
I have this amp and really like all the features! Problem I have is that I hear some crackling when I have some distortion set and I strum a chord or hold a note. I didn't notice it at first but I do now and it never goes away. Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy this issue?
I'm trying to update tones, software etc.. I would appreciate the steps on how to do that. Even to be able put a new drum track on the amp would be awesome. Anything you can tell me or post?
You will have to register your spider jam with line 6. You will need a SD Card that you can plug into your computer first and then the back of the spider jam. go to line6.com. click on downloads. Choose spider jam in the products row. you can leave the second and third row alone since there is only one update. Firmware v2.09. save it to the SD flash drive then plug it into the back of the amp and power up. The amp will do the rest and let you know when it is done.
As a PA with mic going thru? or hooked up to PA? Going straight through even the headphone jack to PA sounds great, it gives a much fuller sound than the tiny speaker it's originally try to force sound out of without the crazy high frequencies. The amp mic'd has a lot of hissy frequencies that you can't get rid of but with decent speakers it actually works, surprisingly.
Uhm if someone could answear this question i would be rlly happy!! xD when ive recorded my song and saved it to the memory card, and then i restart my amp and it doeset say that there is no saved recordings?? why?? D:
I have such line 6 amplifier. Please help to save my Guitar paling in the memory card/ chip inside. And what type of memory card or chip I have to use there. Thanks, Anwar from Bangladesh
how many seconds is the looper, like when you hit loop,, or record, how long before it starts to play back the loop automatically,, most are 40 seconds,, this?
@brusselleke Yup, you can export your recording in WAV to the card and than take the card out and in it goes to your PC. I love this amp. You can spend the whole day juts messing around with looping and it doesn't get boring.
Using the stereo jacks in the back going out to what exactly for recording ? yep dont know shit , Also why have i been able to save some stuff to a wav file SOMEHOW but cant repeat it ( on the SD card ) . I have a mac laptop that was just given to me, what do i need to get, garage band ? , could i move recordings over , sorry I am a complete neophite with gear and just a hobbyist but now ive gotten good enough that i want to capture some music , maybe get a cheap bass and learn that . Where does a complete dork about gear get info that is like 101 ?
I didn't fully understand. Is it possible to save the recordings on the SD card and use that one to plug in your pc so you don't have to bring the whole amp with if you wan't to share the recordings with someone else? It's anyway some amp to consider buying. Definitely! Thx for the vid.
Compared to the Spider 4, it took a few pounds.. maybe because of all that JAM. Okay i shut up, it sound pretty cool, amazing to see what you can do with a simple amp. I might give it a try
Id pay dearly to learn how to import a wav to the aux track and synch it with a drum or song track. I can import a wav...but it won't play with the drums.
just bought one 2nd hand for 250 after this review...takes some fiddling but you can figure it out pretty easy...Also, I don't know why but when he say's "put a little delay here, for emotional impact " it makes me laugh every time...maybe it's the sarcasm
Why don't you show the button that you press instead of your Face!!! we want to know how to operate it... it look complicated when your the only one seeing what your doing!!! come on men !!!
Karol noyman are you fucking kiddin me? Ive got this amp and you can get metal tones all the way mate! If you dont believe look at my trivium cover! Which i recorded with an mesa boogie dual rectifier preset!

This amp is unbelievable!Im actually thinking of recording the rest of my new cd on the spider jam and see how it sounds
Did you do it?
Nah you dont know what im thinking . Im very glad you have a good feel for guitars. Great demonstration, editing and your right hand is rare 10% play that way. Video #5. First 4 could play but no feeling at all.

Great amp....best purchase I've made so far.

Dalien Austin You can turn down the drum track and record that's what i do

That is actually really clever! i would have never thought of that.....cheers
I've got to get this amp - no two way about it!

What pedal can I add to this any there has to be one that'll work it from my foot isn't there
Is this compatible with the FBV longboard?

Have you tried playing bass through the spider jam as well as playing bass and guitar at the same time?
Seems like a Line 6 JM4 Looper built into an amplifier with some extras on top.
That's exactly what it is !
I've got a spider 5 and I've been told you can't change the tempo of the drum loops which I think is backwards for a newer version why change things that are good
love this amp! i use an ibanez gio rg150 dx with it. its amazing!

Just curious.Has anyone used this live as a PA system with a mike?If so how was it Vox I'm thinking of using it this way

Great sounds what model strat and what string gauge please

{ + Great Guitar playing and Amp Demo, Rock On.! + }😎🎤🎸🎼🎧🔊🔊🔊😁💡🇺🇸🎥🎥🎥👍👍👍👍👍
See now there is no problem with this spider!
How much doses it cost
Compared to the Spider 4, it took a few pounds.. maybe because of all that JAM.

This amp have great metal sounds 2!!!

The amp seems geared toward heavy metal and porn music. If it had blues and hendrix tones it would be cool though.
Karol noyman are you fucking kiddin me? Ive got this amp and you can get metal tones all the way mate! If you dont believe look at my trivium cover! Which i recorded with an mesa boogie dual rectifier preset!
it sucks i have it dont buy it man you;ll be dissapointed
20 minutes.
I suppose, but I wasted my time watching this video without metal sounds. So if someone is looking for a metal sound, try another video.
No metal sounds. Obviously, this amp is not made to play metal...
