+Rocket Jump Ninja you've seriously gained subscribers fast. It seems like just a month ago I subscribed. I've been a sub since 1.7k and I will be proud to say that when you hit that 100k mark. Though one thing that will be necessary to reach that mark quickly would be to mix it up. Find more and more types of content. That will attract more and more people.
+Jordaan It actually does mess up my aim, it just doesn't stop me from doing well enough for the videos. I guess we'll never know how I'd play using nothing but the Zowie EC2-A for a year. :D Doesn't matter, reviews are more important!
How many people actually still play this game? Not that I'm too interested in actually getting it myself, but either way I don't want the community to die out.
+ramsky No, most Quake tournaments are for Duel, and Duel doesn't allow for Rocket Jumping continually. Really boring game type. Also Australia is a bit far away.
people don't just mindlessly rocket jump in duel, there are reasons to use it. but in clan arena it is used to do awkward things to trick people. the thing about ca is, if you go mid\low before going to top... you often times get the first damage. if you start top, you are likely to take damage and be pushed off. rocket jumping in ca is more important than positioning because it allows players to be completely unpredictable. in duel, rocket jumping has a cost for it to be useful. so in duel, positioning is more important.
Nope, a medium sens helps there in general. Medium sens and above wouldn't limit you as much as my 2.1 @ 450 CPI, which is quite low. If you would use it for the first time, you'd feel overwhelmed in close combat with LG and RL, or you'd undershoot Rails, might not check spots or turn around quick enough, etc. Sometimes you gotta ask yourself if low or high sens is really worth it, for consistency's sake it's best to use medium sensitivity imo. I just adapted because I mainly play CS and 2.1-2.2 @ 450 CPI is what I've always used for a very long time. With low sensitivity you just gotta move your arm way more which isn't really a problem for me, but it might be a problem for others trying to maneuver through the map and check spots, which was what he meant.
@@RocketJumpNinja Waiiiit a minute, I had no idea you're Aussie. We have probably ran into each other since i started 6-7 months ago. I'm KayT or Mindarie
@@kaytiecakes Yeah I'm Aussie, I rarely play but usually on the VQL Clan Arena servers. Going to take a guess you're playing in PQL servers mostly? Also how did you get into Quake Live?
@@RocketJumpNinja Ya PQL! It's the most populated so I just gravitated towards it. I came from the "Tribes" games, The community is long dead. I used to play WoW in between and after an extremely long stint of that and no Tribes I wanted to find something to shoot! And Quake it was!
@@kaytiecakes Makes sense, VQL is usually only populated between 7 and 9 each night. Funny, I was just watching a video about Tribes, pretty interesting movement in it. Cool that you're in Quake, I'll drop into PQL some time and say hi if you're about! I just play as "Zy" in there.
Aeson 1 Yeah 250 seemed worse to me on this monitor, so I don't use it. I tried to get around 144 for the 144hz, but I think it gave me some weird number, and still didn't seem smooth. That's what I meant by locks... locks to certain levels. Using 125 because it's the only setting that seems smooth for some reason.
I get you, I just understood "lock" as a constant one value framerate predetermined by the game, while in this case it's a fps treshhold. I assume a value you are reaching constantly (like 125 in this case) is more stable since it stays limited at that one level. i found though for my crap machines any value i set makes my fps jitter regardless so i just slam it to 250 so at least it hovers in higher numbers
I just watched the 2015 Duel Grand Final at QuakeCon betwene Rapha and Evil and here's a question: why do the players hold the keyboards in their laps? Is it more comfortable? Out of habit because lower tiered tournaments have limited space like how top CS:GO players have their keyboards at a crazy slant? I must know!!
+Frustrated Alpaca Search for 'Quake Russian style'. Basically it's a combination of extra comfort (not having your left hand extended over the table) and it saves space (this was an issue in small, cramped post-Soviet Russian net cafes). Players from other parts of the world began copying this after the Russians began showing up to international Quake 3 LANs. Nowadays I think it's going out of style as people have slowly moved towards lower sensitivities and flatscreens have made more space. It's also just more acceptable to have more space at LANs nowadays.
I literally CAN'T play with any kind of strategy whatsoever, even if I go into the round intending to. I'm just hard-wired to rush the biggest group of enemies I can find, and the programming just takes over. I gave up trying to play differently ages ago. If I'm ever last standing, it's because I never saw an enemy.
This may be a really stupid question, but I own the game and I really like it, Yea it's hard and suck but I was wondering, Do you personally think, it's worth getting into the game now, and getting into a clan or something? Or is the game not as pop anymore so it's not worth it?
+Dark47Killer you can still get into this game there will be people playing for as long as the game will exist. However, the players mostly will gonna kick your ass in the meanwhile since they are playing forever. You can transfer yur quake skills to other quake games or any fps game really, you have to decide for yourself if you like it to be raped in this game and to check if its worth it
+RiseDZR Took me ages to get the settings right for this monitor, I'm not changing them again. And I see no reason to use 250 anyway, can't tell the difference.
Using the 550M. Does that mean there's a review of it coming? I know I've been praising this mouse in the past but over the last few days my mouse4 button became very loose and yesterday it completely fell out :( I wanted to get an EC1-a but too much hassle where I live so I bought a DA 2013. Must admit it feels good after not using one for the last year or so but I still want to try a bunch of new ones in the future.
Hey man, nice tutorial. I've been playing this game since 1999, but your video is very good for beginners. Good Job!
+Quang Luong Hey, thanks, yeah just responding to requests with these.
good, quake needs more love nowadays :)
Great video as always!
very nice video thank you :)
keep making videos like this
great job
+Marco vanBasten Thanks, will do!
Second comment! You're an awesome RUclipsr. I hope you blow up in subscribers. Keep up the great videos.
first like tho

Brandon Key Yeah agreed. I'm doing some videos that will help expand the channel, but nothing quite catching on just yet. The search continues!
You could consider looking at headset reviews. I know you're not much of a cod or bf player but there are some cool headsets out there.
good stuff as always!
I have a question. Since you use so many mice, how does that not mess up your aim? I couldn't get used to anything if I used that many mice.

Rocket Jump Ninja I love your dedication man
How large are your hands? Just wondering since you're always advertising mice.
are you gonna do headset reviews?
+-Fumi- Only if they get sent to me. Too expensive.
ever consider livestreaming it?
+hachira 95 Would love to, but 100 kbyte per second upload would not work too well.
+Rocket Jump Ninja ouch, i feel ya mate
just started playing yesterday
this and overwatch and my new favorite games
i play csgo now for money
How many people actually still play this game? Not that I'm too interested in actually getting it myself, but either way I don't want the community to die out.
+Purple Snake No idea. It'll always have a following of some kind.
Btw, have you ever competed in some bigger quake convention?
+ramsky No, most Quake tournaments are for Duel, and Duel doesn't allow for Rocket Jumping continually. Really boring game type. Also Australia is a bit far away.
+Rocket Jump Ninja WAIT, did you just say what I thought you said. Jeez... you have no clue lol
mc Dowells I'm assuming you think duel is fun? That's cool, each to their own. I'd probably enjoy it more if rockets did no damage to self.
people don't just mindlessly rocket jump in duel, there are reasons to use it. but in clan arena it is used to do awkward things to trick people. the thing about ca is, if you go mid\low before going to top... you often times get the first damage. if you start top, you are likely to take damage and be pushed off. rocket jumping in ca is more important than positioning because it allows players to be completely unpredictable. in duel, rocket jumping has a cost for it to be useful.
so in duel, positioning is more important.
mc Dowells It's great that you're learning the game, keep at it!
do you know any good mice which base is wide: 5 cm and length: 10 cm
+joven nicholas Haven't come across any, but maybe the SteelSeries Kinzu V3.
Rocket Jump Ninja if g303 do you know the size of g303?
joven nicholas Do you want just the base? Then yes, it's about that too. Grip width is more like 5.5cm though. Base length is 10/10.5cm.
Rocket Jump Ninja I see thanks
Hi Zy, when you said "...medium sens helps here.", did you mean that you toggle your sens, or just saying that in general?
Nope, a medium sens helps there in general. Medium sens and above wouldn't limit you as much as my 2.1 @ 450 CPI, which is quite low. do u use low or high sens?
+Fabster 28.5cm/360, so medium, really.
does the game always lock at 125 fps or did you set that manually? if so, why?
+Intuxikated It locks, and something to do with the way the engine works.

Rocket Jump Ninja
When i get sick of it, I just play CS and bait the hell out of my team
I don't play Quake Live can someone explain me how Clan Arena works?
No self damage, start with all weapons, goes in rounds, red vs blue, first to 10 rounds wins the game.
Thanks!!

what headphone btw please? :)

why not 250 fps?)

This made me go from a .16 K/D to about a 2
hah!
whoever didn't get it say 10 times mike litoris and do it quickly!
MikeLitoris 🤣🤣🤣
all so simple. but noo NOOOOOO
A positioning tutorial based on a game where he hits every possible shot. Riiight
I FUCKING HATE THAT MAP holy shit
