Safe to say Dom, injuries or not your Bucks/Heat pick did not age well at all, even if Milwaukee does come back from 3-1 if they were so much better than us that it warranted calling sweep then even without Giannis they should've been up heading into game 4 Also the whole Heat not breaking 100 points thing was just silly if we're being honest Between March and April the Heat only had 3 games of scoring less then 100, and they hadn't had a single one since their March 29th game against the Knicks, yes I get our offense over the course of the whole season wasn't what it was even a year ago but if you had been paying closer attention to us during that final stretch you would've seen a gradual improvement on that end of the court
Yep lots of tunnel vision here. "You all just don't get how good my team really is!" I recognize why this is completely mental and choose to ignore it. You all just don't get how good the Nuggets really are! 😎
crazy how everyone was confident in a bucks in sweep, and a potential finals appearance, but now jimmy butler bounced them out of the playoffs in 5. goes to show that this playoffs is gonna be on of the greats
Always fun hearing you talk through your predictions! I think we're pretty much in agreement on who the winners will be - I have: Denver in 6 - the Wolves have some nice offensive tools to strain Denver - Ant can shoot, and we've seen KAT stretch guys like Rudy out to win games. Rudy's looked better after a rough start, but the fit is still far from ideal given (1) KAT has always had slow feet and a high center of gravity, even if his post defense is solid enough, (2) Rudy isn't equipped to chase guys out to the perimeter, & (3) Jaden McDaniels, a versatile guy who could make up for a lot of those mistakes, is injured & the rest of the roster doesn't have a ton of footspeed (see earlier in the year). Even though I don't think Denver's pieces are the absolute best for Jokic, they are markedly improved in that respect, & some of their bench pieces have shown nice defensive chops (i.e. Christian Braun), which gives them a bit more versatility in the minutes if MPJ doesn't hold up. That said, I'm not expecting the defense on either side to be great, & I do think Minnesota could get a game or two off of a hot shooting night since the Nuggets aren't a team that's going to sweep people left and right. Suns in 5 - The Clippers still have plenty of shooting and versatile wings, but being without PG hurts them on both ends, & while Westbrook is in a much better environment, I don't have confidence he won't be swallowed up by size at the rim - and while the Suns lack depth, I don't think their other pieces are exploitable enough for Russ. They do lack depth, so the Clippers might take a game (especially if they have a hot shooting night or an outstanding performance from Kawhi), but they have enough outside the starters to survive, and while nobody on Phoenix can really stroke tons of pull-ups, there are 3 guys who are midrange assassins, & we've seen that that matters in the playoffs, even with the tactical adjustments of recent years. Warriors in 7 - I don't think slowing down Sac will be an easy task at all, and neither team has been good defensively. I do feel better about the Kings offense than the Warriors, just because I think their bench depth is excellent & will allow them to keep the train humming, but the Warriors have looked significantly better since the trade (even if it was against questionable teams). A lot of the outcome of this series will hinge on a couple of things - 1 - how well will the Kings utilize their other defensive pieces to protect Sabonis from being targeted? 2 - how will the Warriors bench hold up? and 3 - how well will Fox & other less proven shooters hold up when GSW dares them to make shots? With this series, it's not about defense, but doing just enough on that end to eke out wins, & despite their struggles, I'm slightly more confident in the Warriors. LA in 7 - I don't really have many thoughts on this series outside of what you've already mentioned. I don't feel confident in some of the Grizzles' backup centers getting putbacks & things like that against the size LA presents. On the other hand, I feel significantly more confident about Memphis's shooting - we know Desmond Bane is a sniper and can handle some on-ball responsibilities, & when you look at their top 3 guys' wide open 3 point percentages, they have a clear advantage over the Lakers. However, if LA can get JJJ in foul trouble or there's an injury that affects his movement, I think things can swing in their favor. Getting out and running will be important. LeBron & AD and their shooting will be important - you want at least one of those guys to be a shooter, preferably 2. Jarred Vanderbilt will be important - if he can stay on the floor, even for 20-25 mins, he can have enough impact to tip the series. And LA's role players outside of Austin Reeves will be important - ultimately, some of the series will come down to which team makes their open 3's more, & while Memphis has the advantage there, a charged up LeBron will enhance those shooters and squeeze enough juice out on both ends that I think LA would probably take a close series. Stopping Ja will be difficult, but having a healthy AD along with Reeves, Hachimura, LeBron, & Vanderbilt gives you a lot of switchability and some point of attack chops, which should help. I don't want to bet against LeBron, so LA is my prediction even though I originally had Memphis. Bucks in 5 - while I still have faith in Miami's defense, their halfcourt offensive struggles continue and are perhaps worse than they've ever been. Bucks don't have absolutely everybody, but they do have Middleton back and are thus in much better shape than previously. Definitely the biggest favorites outside the Celtics & for good reason. I expect a gritty series defensively, but the Bucks shouldn't have any issues pulling it out, though a hot shooting night might win the Heat a game. Cavs in 7 - playing two non-shooters will be an issue, but I think the outsize defensive impact will matter enough to offset it for this series. NY has some nice creators, good shooters, and a very good bench unit, & I'm looking forward to the Brunson-Mitchell duels, but I'm not sure it's enough to make up for the Cavs' interior presence-switchability combo. If Mitchell Robinson can stay on the floor, though, this should be close, & I think the Knicks' advantages & the Cavs relative inexperience will win NY a couple games. The best first round series in the East. 76ers in 5 - Brooklyn has some nice defensive pieces to hold Harden & Maxey in check, but we know Nic Claxton gives up a bit when defending stronger post players, Embiid & Harden are foul merchant masters, & I just don't think they have enough on-ball juice to compensate. This could go six with 1-2 close games, but I don't expect Philly to be massively tested. Celtics in 5 - hell, could be C's in 4. Hawks just don't have enough defensive personnel, the Dejounte Murray - Trae Young combo isn't particularly additive, & while they do still have some nice pieces, I know the Celtics can shut down Trae Young and make a lot of people's lives very hard. Of the teams thought to be serious contenders at the start of the season, probably the worst vibes. I don't really know what they do, but out of respect for Trae Young, Hunter, & John Collins I'm not making this a sweep.
The west is super complicated, but Bucks vs Celtics conference finals, if there’s a game 7 Bucks win. If Celtics can steal a game from the Bucks in game 5 they’d win
I agree with the Golden State-Sacramento series but I remember that the Warriors core hasn't lost a playoff series in the West since before they won the title in 2015 and I just don't think the Kings can take that crown from them in the West.
I think the kings and wolves are the only teams that don't have a chance Thai year on the west, healthy suns Clippers Lakers and warriors All have a chance , nuggets are Nice, Grizzlies too... This might be the most unpredrictable west Ever honestly, and I hope everybody shows up! I want 35/12 AD, healthy kawhi and PG...

I’m not counting out the warriors, but them losing to the kings in game 1 isn’t a great start, it’s still gonna be a fun series and I think it can go either way.

Suns will win the title and fans will complain again that KD has ruined the league again. Also I guarantee the Kings will not lose game 1 to the Warriors. I will be shocked if both the Warriors and Lakers are bounced in the first round.
Uhhh
Milwaukee v Golden State in the NBA Finals
Warriors in 6
The Mikal Bridges trade will continue to haunt the Sixers to the end of their days. Now we're staring it in the face, and it's scoring 30 points on us. Damn, I wish we had him. Imagine where the team would be if we hadn't swapped him for some random prospect who never saw the light of day.
