The concept of a Super Team fizzled out. The good teams build through the draft and then add maybe one or two FAs where needed. Hoops is still a team sport at the end of the day

Every game they played in 2020 was hype asf. It was always a competitive game, never a blowout. After the blown 3-1 lead no one bothered enough about the Clippers to really care about it again.

@@dominiquejones3805 I still think in an alternate reality that we would’ve got that wcf. I think there were a lot of factors that led to the clippers choking the 3-1 but if the season hadn’t been delayed the way it was, and pg wasn’t depressed, we would’ve got that wcf easily.
@Ali Chaudhry no, the clippers should have won the series long before it even reached that game 7. That loss cant really be blamed on Kawhi, regardless of his game 7 performance. Furthermore, do you not remember the series against the 76ers? Even if one of the players that you mentioned played good for a game that series, that level of perofmance could have easily been replaced. KAWHI won them that championship, because lets be honest, those raptors players were replaceable during that playoff run.
It feels like boxing. We are teased and it never happens. Then all of a sudden, when both are over the hill, it comes together and happens - yet leaves everyone wondering what it would have been like at their peaks and if the result really counts in their minds.
It happens a lot in every sport. In the 2018 World Cup, Germany had to beat Corea to meet Brazil again, but they lost. And Brazil had to defeat Belgium to meet France in the next round... and they lost. God, what a shitty World Cup.

The Cavs and the Warriors met 4 times in the finals. Two teams from the same city in the same conference can't meet once in the play-offs.

If things go right, maybe there will be the battle of LA, but most likely the Clippers would've already settled into their new arena by then.

I agree it could still happen, but both teams have had so many injuries and pieces moved both teams are unrecognizable compared to what they were in their primes. In my opinion the arena is the smallest factor in this rivalry and wouldn't really make a difference.

In sports, to get the matchups we want to see, literally everything has to go well at the right times for both sides. Lakers vs Clippers in the WCF is one of those that epitomizes everything going wrong at the worst times.

Just like the Clippers blowing a 3-1 lead is all anyone remembers, and not the couple of competitive regular season games these guys played. Since then neither team has been healthy and/or good. And they only clashes in the Champions League ONCE. It was almost a full decade of them making it to top 8 and sometimes even top 4 and somehow they kept avoiding each other. yeah i ttoally bought the nets/lakers both being 65+ win teams hype, though i did at least *think* the warriros were a sleeper team, i thought they'd get rocked by the Nets/Bucks if the Bucks beat the nets though (Milwaukee *Were* defending champions after all)
I wasnt too hyped but i thought the Lakers would win 50 last year, somehow, and get knocked out in the first round. The Nets, great scoring, but no defense, and i have found in sports, the "sports gods" make you pay eventually for ignoring defense.

it's starting to feel like Kawhi is NOT an upgrade for your team, more like the start of it's downfall, and I think Raptors got lucky to have the best of it all in one year, and got out of the mess before too late ! Since then they retained their identity, solid group, always in the battle and always there even if you don't expect them. Respect.

I remember hearing that the trade didn't happen NOT because NBA didn't think the package for CP3 wasn't good enough. The wage bill in Cholarlotte after the trade was going to be too high. Basically, they didn't do the trade because they wanted to sell the make the Hornets as attractive as possible to a buyer.
It's because the others owners didn't find the package good enough ( rightfully so, Stern was about to give CP3 for almost nothing to the LA) and then all the others owners of the league vetoed the trade. The NBA itself and especially big market lover Stern would have loved to see this trade happen
