Ppl hate on Buddy, especially when he went to PHI bc he didn’t play much…and when he did, didn’t get to play w Joel much. He played w/ Hali basically his entire career, and Haliburton even said how weird it is to not have him around. How much harder it is. Having a guy like Buddy is a dream for a pass first PG like Hali, especially one who gets doubled/blitzed a lot and has so much gravity himself. They go over his screens bc he’s such a good pull-up shooter. So having Buddy sprinting around, finding a way to get open, having that chemistry to where he knows Haliburton’s game and vice versa. It’s just huge.
Also a lot of people think Buddy is a pure shooter, or even a pure C&S shooter. He’s not, he’s far from a Joe Harris or I’ve even seen Davis Bertans comparisons which is nuts. Buddy is pretty big, he’s 6’4 without shoes on, 6’9+ wingspan. He was 213 or so at the combine, and is more like 225 now. He’s not some good defender obviously, but he’s not the worst of all time or something. When he’s trying, he’s big enough and strong enough where he’s not just a pure cone. He is also decent in the passing lanes. Averages like 1stl a game for his career, He’s a - defender for sure, regardless, but he’s not as bad as some may believe.
The one thing with him is his motor definitely wavers. If he doesn’t like his environment, is on a bad team and/or is getting like no mins…he just doesn’t try as hard. Obviously not a good trait but just being honest. It’s a pretty stark contrast if you watch him when he has a regular role vs like on PHI where his mins were super sporadic and it didn’t seem like he got along with Nick Nurse. The one playoff game he got real PT in though he kinda lit it up.
But ya Buddy basically doesn’t miss games. I’ve looked it up before and I know he missed at least one due to trade, maybe 2? Maybe 5 missed total or something in 8 seasons including playing 72/72 in 19-20 & 71/72 in 20-21. That in itself is wild bc it seems like everyone ended up in H&S protocols at some point. So not missing games is a pretty good thing lol. He has shot under 39% 3P twice, 38.6% this season on 9.5att PER 36, and 36.6% in 21-22 on 10.3att PER 36.
Career he’s exactly 40% 3P on 9.4att PER 36, or 7.6att a game. He can also actually pass a bit too. Not gonna be running offense or anything, but he’ll make the next pass, keep the ball moving, occasionally make a pretty smart read. Over 1.5:1 ASST to TOV, pretty low TOV guy in general. 1.7tov career and only one season at 2+. And he had a stretch of playing 32+ MPG, then 18-19 - 22-23 31.7MPG. 40% on like 9 3PA. Then one more kinda odd thing about Buddy, he’s a decent rebounder lol. Multiple seasons at 5REB, nearly 1 OREB. Career 5.3REB PER 36, then 86% FT on almost 2 FTA PER 36.
47.1% 3P from the corner career which are 16.6% of his 3PA. If you compare that to a lot of players you think of as pure shooters it’s incredibly low in terms of how many of his 3PA come from the corner. Then 82.5% of his 3PA are assisted in his career, also pretty low relative to “similar” players. 47.4% of 2PA assted, 64.1% at the rim, 65.4% if you remove his NOP year. Then around 43% on long 2s. Doesn’t rly take floaters or the shorter middies for whatever reason.
This post is long AF, I’m not even a fan of any team he’s played for lol. Just bored I guess, and he crushed for me one year in a fantasy league I won, basically won me the finals so shout out to him. Dude is 1,924-4,808 from 3 for his career. That’s outrageous. Then in college if you take out his FR year where he barely played and only took 80 3s, he was 330-814 there which is 40.5%. So 2,254-5,622 from SO year of college til now. That’s almost 40.1% on 5600 3s. Not even realistic. The dude is a machine. Catch and shoot, running off a screen, any kinda movement, even some off the bounce. High volume just absolute sniper and he contributes in small other ways too.
I think he will be awesome in GSWs system as long as he gets regular mins which should be interesting. They really need another volume shooter ESPECIALLY when Steph is out, so you’d think he’d play those 16mpg or whatever that Steph doesn’t play. Then I just expect him to play 80+ games, and hopefully they can get away with Steph only playing like 72 or so. Maybe plays like 20-22MPG when Steph plays and 28 or so when he doesn’t, so 25MPG.
Idk how they’re gonna get all these dudes mins. Playing SloMo with Dray prolly is not ideal. If Kuminga and Wiggins shoot well it’ll make things easier tho. Ya nobody’s gonna read this I’m just YAPPING 😂

As a Raptors fan, honestly thrilled with our Jalen Mcdaniels trade. I know it was mainly a salary dump for Sacramento, but I'm thrilled with turning our worst rotational player last year into taking a flyer on Davion Mitchell (who should fit well on this team and addresses a glaring need) and 2 second round picks (one of which was Jamal Shead, who I'm high on, one being Portland's 2nd rounder next year) is an absolute win. I'm just thrilled to not have to watch Mcdaniels play in the 6 anymore 😆no matter what happens with Sasha Vezenkov

    NBA scouts/gms are ATROCIOUS!!!
The draft should have went in this order... PERIOD!!!
    1. Castle - absolute BEAST on defense who will be a staple on all defensive teams for the next decade
Castle will be able to defend opponents' best offensive players whether they be point guards or power forwards...
Castle is also incredibly strong bringing the ball to the rim offensively... With high level passing skills to boot...
A 6'5 235 lb POINT GUARD!!! Who will be wembanyamas pick n roll partner for the next 15 years!!!
The Spurs got the best plyin the draft two years in a row... Lucky bastards
Castle slipped to 4 because of his less than stellar 3pt shooting... But how scouts/gms haven't learned that 3pt shooting is LITERALLY THE EASIEST SKILL TO IMPROVE AS FAR AS NBA SKILLS GO IS BEYOND ME!!!
    2. Buzelis - So let me get this straight... IN A SUPPOSEDLY WEAK DRAFT!!!...
A 6'10 wing with elite self creation and athleticism slips to not 2... Not 3... But 11!!!!
Are you kidding me??? Are you fuking kidding me???
The gms that picked between 2 and 11 should ALL be fired IMMEDIATELY...
The bulls just got the biggest steal I've seen in a draft in a long time...
Finally Chicago caught some luck as far as the draft is concerned....
    3. Carrington - a 6'5 point guard who's an elite 3 point shooter and looks like hel develop into a triple double machine...
Goes 14th... In a "weak draft" smh
    UNREAL LOL
    4. Alex Sarr - Despite his atrocious shooting in the summer league...
Sarr has already shown the ability to defend 1-5 which alone brings enough value to be a top 5 pick...
Add his potential offensively and the fact that he's a beast on the boards...
And Sarr is definitely worthy of going #4
    5. Cody Williams - How long is it going to take for NBA scouts/gms to learn that two way wings are by far the most valuable archetype in the NBA?...
Williams looks like he could literally tie his shoes standing up...
And he's also shown the potential to run the pick n roll at the top of the key...
I see Williams, much like his brother j dub who was drafted at 12...
Completely outperforming his draft position which was 10
    6. Holland - AGAIN!!! HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR NBA SCOUTS/GMS TO LEARN THAT TWO WAY WINGS ARE THE MOST VALUABLE ARCHETYPE IN THE NBA?!?!?
Holland projects to be AT MINIMUM a high level 3 N D guy...
With the potential to develop into a jaylen brown type player offensively
    7. Kelel Ware - Ware can defend 1-5... That ALONE literally makes him worthy of the 7th pick in this draft...
But ware is also VERY STRONG in the paint and going to the rim...
Huge pickup for the heat who will be able to step in and have a winning impact day 1
    8. Reed Sheppard - Sheppard has been the belle of the summer league ball...
But 6'2 shooting guards who will get attacked mercilessly on defense aren't exactly the archetype for players who impact winning...
    9. Zach edey -
The grizz picked the perfect player at the perfect spot... No need to get much deeper than that...
    10. Clingan - 7'7 wingspan with a 9'7 standing reach...
Clingan is GUARUNTEED to be an elite rim protector...
He also has shown the ability to hit cutters from the elbows at a high level...
Solid prospect and you know exactly what ur getting... Very high floor

Buddy Hield currently is a better shooter than Klay he’s way more consistent too

    • @BOnYTB
      @BOnYTB 2 месяца назад

Shout out to Buddy. He’s not gonna isolate, pump fake 8 times which nobody ever bites on bc why would you it’s Klay, then chuck up some absolute garbage either. That helps. He actually gets a few boards, can actually move the ball, finishes at the bucket. If he has an open corner 3 it’s going in. He doesn’t miss games. And they can run him off screens etc. Buddy doesn’t get much credit for how good he is at what he does. I think he will thrive in GSW.
His big negative is he’s not also on 100%, if he doesn’t like his situation like in Philly or at some points in SAC he isn’t gonna try as hard doing the little stuff. But in GS he knows he’s going there and he’s gonna play like 20 something mins when Steph plays, and maybe 25-28 when he doesn’t. Prolly will almost never close games.
But unlike Philly, he wanted to be in GS. He knows this. He had Haliburton in Indy who he’d played with for a long time and they had good chemistry, Carlisle’s system was uptempo and Buddy got to let it fly. In PHI it was obvious NN didn’t trust him, and he didn’t get to play with Joel much. So I expect him to embrace his role in GSW and do what he does.
Not even a GSW fan or anything related to Buddy, just feel like I see a lot of hate for whatever reason. Not just in Philly but a bit in Indy too. Ppl calling him mad streaky and stuff like that. Like bro he takes infinite 3s, there’s a lot of variance in doing that, he’s gonna have slumps. But he’s literally 40% on like 5,000 3s, I think from his SO year in college til now it’s around 41% on almost 6,000 or over 6,000 something absurd. He will bounce back, he quite literally always does.
I think that’s why I fw him. He can go 1-8 then 2-9, and still take 10 the next game without hesitation. It takes a special type of confidence to do that, as JJ Redick would say you have to be a true bball sicko. Imagine missing like 20 3s in a row and you’re like ya but this next one is CASH 😂
