People need to go to the races and see if they even like it first. Then while they are there watch what the racers have to do and go through. Pick a car that you like and keep up with that car and driver. Just watching him go through everything on track and in the pit area will give you a idea of what to expect. I recommend EVERYONE INTERESTED go to the track and practice until you get comfortable before you start racing !!
I been budget racing for 10 years lol. Things can be had and built really cheap these days. Hobbywing for esc all the way motors eh either used hobbywing or ultra cheap motors from places like nitrorcx or hobby king. Batts def Amazon or hobby king period. As far as car or truck chassis buy one broken or just bashed as 90% of the time it’s a $20 part or less and some elbow grease. Currently I’m working on a pan car hd7 completely built with sensored 21.5 60amp esc and all and will have about $275 in it complete body race tires and all.
😂 the way you look at $ and budgeting for loss of funds is funny lol but at least you explained the title, it’s just a very backwards way of looking at it, if I want a Ferrari it will only cost $1 but that’s only if I spend $180,000 and sell it for $179,999 when I’m done with it 🤣🤣
I wouldn't call budgeting costs in the long game as "backwards." Some people know it as being good with your money. Your Ferrari example kinda sounds like LEASING a car doesn't it? 😵🤣🤣You only pay for what you use with the option to buy the car that was pre-determined at the beginning. Sometimes the buyout price at the end could actually be less than what the car would currently be worth at the end of the lease. If you bought a special edition Ferrari that appreciated in value you could actually make a profit. Some rich people SPECULATE and do this as a business investment. This is why some cars like the Ford GT came with a clause that you couldn't sell it for a while after you a bought it. Ford sued John Cena because he bought the car for half a million and sold it for $1.54 million 1 month after he bought it. 🤔👍🤣🤣🤣 What Is Buying on Margin? Buying on margin occurs when an investor buys an asset by borrowing the balance from a bank or broker. Get somebody else to bank role that Ferrari! Do this wrong and.....you heard of people jumping off of buildings when the markets collapse?
Watch the Facebook groups. Lots of good deals. My first ebuggy was a 3 day old Eb48.4 and I got it for $400 RTR. Added my radio, transponder, and went racing. It's a ball!
The thing is that depending on what you want to do you can just build a brand new kit with piece of mind for between 1200-2000$ so u go used for 850-900 and you don't know what your really getting for sure 300$ to me is worth the piece of mind.
Enjoy watching your videos fellow Texan! Also see the first RC I started off with when they first came out in the background, The Grasshopper. Yes I’m a old timer who still enjoy RCs😜
So hopefully you will be explaining all the adjustments needed to make it competitive and iron out any foible's by explaining what it is or should be doing and if not what to do to remedy the handling fault.
Markkkk!!!! I have a Big Brain Idea, You have a iphone 11, You zoom out tk 0.5 instead of the normal 1.0 so it’ll look wider and give us a better view, Much love!
Oh.....A Tekno....well that is a surprise. I thought it might be something else for a change ! So.....this is now basically becoming and advert channel for Tekno, Traxxas and spectrum ?
If he were advertising Spektrum he'd have suggested a DX5C controller and a $29-39 reciever...lol... I can only imagine he is building this up for a kid to use, for a loaner for friends to try, or... for someone local to buy...
Spektrum DX5C is a great entry level radio, that is also entertaining usable for racing... without the AVC receiver it's pretty cheap, and the sport receivers are only like $29-39... another RUclips channel just did a video comparing lap times from his own radio and that Spektrum, as well as another racer doing the same... it definitely shows the Spektrum radio is more than capable on track and is by far not holding anyone back....maybe the top 0.000001% of racers at the pinnacle of competition, but even those guys could likely podium at big races with a lower end transmitter...
I recently trief to get started raving as cheap as possible (before seeing this) I bought a used B5M roller with a servo and wheels on it. For $100 I bought a traxxas tqi Remote and reciever for $40 Than I got a uses Hobbywing XR10 pro for $150 I got 2 high quality batteries for $70 And a new 17.5 motor for $100 And a used charger for $20 So $480 all in I could have wrnt cheaper on a motor and speed controller but other than that probably about a cheap as I could go
Personally I buy used anyway as what’s the point in spending $800 on a kit when I can get the last model for $250. With tires aswell I buy used but I only use them to practice and I really take them down until theirs no tread left and use them for streets. I buy eBay servos which are 40kg and work a treat and buy used reds engines. I can get a top of the line race buggy for less then $700 that’s around 3k new.
The change in pitch is likely a boost setting. AKA boosted timing. Can't really know without being able to connect the esc and see the settings, but that is my guess. Also... Cletus is the man. Do it for Dale. Hell Yeah Brother!
Idk man you can get a nitro engine for under 200 and be competitive, just need the starter box and you can find those cheap, as you want to stay away from pull starts for racing...although I don't recommend this method for a budget car for many reasons..but to eash their own and this video shows there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Ok, here ya go guys. Imma give you my build for an entry level 4wd 1:10th race buggy. Wltoys 104001 -$160 Surpass Hobby 3500-4000kv (3650 size) motor, esc, servo combo -$50 Dumborc Gyro built in transmitter/reciever-$40 Associated b64 front CVA kit- $27 online (fits perfect and youre gonna destroy the stock front cva pretty fast) Associated 100k Diff silicon grease-$7 Associated 30w shock oil- $6 Optional-carbon fiber chassis kit for 104001, 3mm (unless you dont mind shimming the front angle manually, in which case the 5mm is ok). $50? $70? Can't remember. If you get the 3mm install everything but leave the front stock stiffening plate (thin, t shaped) on too and it'll fix the rigidity problem while still fitting perfectly. Everything else can go. Optional 2, anti-roll/sway bar. About 40 bucks IIRC, RUclips this one. I haven't done the mod because I'm broke but im told it also helps go a long way towards making her tear it up........ This should get you started. I like running 100k diff fluid, and the wl starts with basically DRY diffs which is very bad but theyre sealed so fill em before you run em. 30w is also my preferred neutral shock oil for this buggy. Thisll get you started, youre gonna want wheels/tires that work well on your local track. She reeeeally COOKS on 3s, though she comes with 2s batteries thatll get you practicing and running around at least, but of course you'll want 3s for racing. Will it be the lightest, fastest buggy ever? No. Will it get you in the game and give you lots of fun? I think definitely yes.
this is what i can an easy way to get into rc buggy racing, or you could even just get a cheaper one like a bandit, or the really cheap wltoys buggy just to see if you even like racing. The worst things i have ever seen is where somebody spends $1200 on a pro buggy and dont like racing.
@MarkSantaMaria hey i just got a used tekno sct410 for 200 bucks. Complete, only missing receiver and transmitter. I took tht off one of my other cars running a dx3. It does have an older dynamite fuze 3800kv and 130a esc. Im not familiar with this esc and motor combo. Should i run it till it goes or replace it with something new? Oh and also has a transponder 😊 i think its a crazy deal at 200. Whats your thoughts thanks
Awesome timing! I just ordered a HB D418 buggy kit cheap... like dirt cheap! I am not sure the motor and ESC combo will work in the 10th scale buggy, may have to do some research on what goes in them best but great advice for those looking to getting into racing!
A decent budget option for 1/10 would be a $55 Hobbywing 10BL120 speed control and a silver Ruddog motor for about that same 55 range , both can be had on Amain,I know of a handful in my area using those speed controls and motors with good results... just installed them in my bonus kid's new truck for this season, and have one of the HW speedos in my parts bin for the next project...
I have a hrb 3s 5200 35c that runs longer than my 6500 60c's so I actually run them together on my electric gocart and they always have a higher voltage at the end of my run but thats probably due to the lower c rating is my guess
You could buy all used electronics. I just got my 3rd car that is a b6.2 (1/10 scale) so that I could have a car for my friends when they come and I built it completely by buying all used electronics, the total end up being about $350
When you get your seconds kit strip it and rebuild it from scratch… this helps getting to know the car and fix any hidden problems… proper plastic renewal sprays make these things look great… 🤔👍👺🤡
My son and I are wanting to get into racing but at the moment everything is tight and I'm curious to see if you might have an older buggy you may not race anymore or it's taking up space ... would you sell one or help a fellow racer out im a huge fan of yours and we would win with whatever car you would sell us even if it's a roller i have som parts and a radio and receiver just need a good platform to start on 1/10 or 1/8 scale
The esc sends power at a certain frequency. (Some are more audible than others) The faster it goes the higher the frequency. Some motors have boost settings that increase timing at a set RPM under full throttle. This will make the sound change quickly and RPM to then begin to continue to climb. Not all escs have boost, but in higher end setups it's tunable. U know the buzzing servos make. It's lower pitched because they use a lower frequency for higher torque and holding power. Hope this helps :) (Gear mesh can cause sounds as well like others mentioned, but it will sound like a second frequency that you can hear.)
@@wtcamer thanks gear mesh is fine the motor or the spur gear has never left the truck as of yet. Thanks again for the information I do appreciate lots
i would not buy the arrma esc motor combo. HWI38020415 this combo is sensored or sensorless and hobbywing has a 10%off coupon making it $207. Worlds better imo

Depends on your funding. I posted a comment with my budget build for 4wd 10th buggy for people who have very low funds like me.

Tekno and budget in the same sentence - I think NOT! 🤣 Definitely can be done cheaper but a lot of good info 👍

I was hoping to here more about the Aarma out at that last Vagas race.
Not really much to hear. He raced it in the e truck class
I bought a high end Futaba 7pxr for $300 with one reciever. It was a good find.
I'm glad you put the caveat right at the beginning of the video! Great video. Keep up the good work :)

Never bought 1 thing from Amazon and NEVER WILL Mark
Hey Mark, what body is on the truggy at the end with you on the podium?
Well explained about the cost. Either way you will have some out of pocket expense

Wltoys 104001 -$160
Surpass Hobby 3500-4000kv (3650 size) motor,esc,servo combo -$50
Dumborc Gyro built in transmitter/reciever-$40
Associated b64 front CVA kit- $27 online (fits perfect and youre gonna destroy the stock front cva pretty fast)
Associated 100k Diff silicon grease-$7
Associated 30w shock oil- $6
Optional-carbon fiber chassis kit for 104001, 3mm (unless you dont mind shimming the front angle manually, in which case the 5mm is ok). $50? $70? Can't remember. Great video...I would totally buy that if I was closer....good inspiration as always mark.....thanks
Hoping to get an ebuggy built by Aug. But I like the HB cars and can't find any used rollers sadly.
Where can you find used cars though? I searched around on Facebook marketplace and offerup and couldn't find anything
Where do I buy used cars? Should I only source them from local?
that loud noise is the typical front bearing failing on a spektrum motor..
Is there an updated video?
Nice video, where did you get the battery straps on your ET48.3 ?
you can get decent sensored stuff off hobbyking for half the price of the firma.
you need to change that calendar lol
hows the wife doing with her build ?
Do they do any these races in Atlanta?
Grasshopper!!!
I’m in Dallas rt now. Let me try out to be a MSM driver?!
What type of tires are you running?
i was hoping you sold me your old takno ET lol
This is a bad influence I’m bout to go spend all this money

Nice
Wouldn't it be cheap to build a 10th scale?
Not a whole lot more than 1/8 scale. Quality products are gonna have a little bit of cost
Would you go with the trx4 or the sport version
depends, if you are just going to do straight hardcore crawling, then i suggest the sport
nice vid and im lucky bercause i got a rc for free from a friend
Should be able to get that for 300
Mark in the next video I want to see you shaved
More like get into racing for $1150.

I'd have to go HW max 8 combo.

My team losi 2xxL LST E dose that high pitch scream I don't understand why i know the gear mesh is perfect on it.!?
If it has a slipper clutch loosen it a little bit and if that doesn’t do anything take another look at the mesh to make sure.

If you are in a giving mood I could use a car!!!!😊
Easy was to lose $200! Welcome to rc!
I’m confused as to where $150 comes into play?…….
It doesn't.
❤👍
It’s nearly impossible to sell rc cars.
Yeah, u shud just put the truth in ur video title- "RC is expensive AF"
Darn late to the party 😅
Hi
Budget build lol. Ok. Nothing real budget about tekno stuff
$830 ? 😂 Might as well by something new
150$ im in. Sell me one
voh.fyi
satisfying
And you typicaly lose half on a rc car sale
Just go on amain hobbies buy a e revo 2.0 and spend 2100.00 lol like I did
Or just buy a new ftx 😆
$150😂😂😂
