We're all unique in our own ways. All family names have their owns history and complex origins. As example, Berman comes either from the yiddish (meaning "Bear man") or old English Bærmann (also meaning "Bear man") or Beornmund (meaning "young warrior"). There's most likely people much much closer from the lords of the Isles than me. But it's relevant to know that without 1 of my ancestors I'dnt be here... and to see where they came from is even more thrilling... whatever if it happened nearly 1000 years ago 😅
@Libby Berman My Heritage and Ancestry have a pretty large genealogical databases. On my father's side I can trace my ancestors back to the 4th century. On my mother side, I can't get before the 1600's... where a genealogist (back then) hit the same wall and then proposed that my family was linked to an other sharing the same surname... but I don't trust assumptions whatever if they sound glamorous, logic or not. I prefer archives, dates and names. Keep searching, genealogy is a personally rewarding hobby... even if it lead to some farmers of some sort, it's cool to know where we're coming from. 😀
@Libby Berman by the way, it was lady Jean MacDonald, countess of Bute (of the Isles), she married my direct ancestor (on my father side) sir John Alexander FitzJames of Bonkyl (13th century). Like I said, it's pretty far ago! My surname been changed 3 times since then... 😂

Agree, he has been an exceptional Host, full of energy and always alert to the Point.
I wonder if he ever got " a little turnip, of me own" my favourite Baldrick statement. He did have a cunning plan "Time Team!"
It would be wonderful if they made a special show or shows and updated us on the various digs.
