He was already 1 meter ahead after the dive and underwater. The guy in second finished in 1:57 which is really good in high school and wasn't even a factor in the race.
The pool isn’t the problem, it’s worked for the US for decades. The problem imo is that training has gone way too far in the other direction regarding the quality over quantity debate. Yes quality swimming is insanely important, but if you aren’t doing enough capacity training then that’s a problem. There needs to be more balance between the aerobic and anerobic energy systems
@@h2owl205 valid point and switching to meters would give you better quality and quantity. Again, we are becoming a more global society so better to just standardize everything so you can go compete anywhere and know your times and what's good or not.

This guy looks like popivici when he swims, super impressive
Bro why can’t they play W songs at our swim meets
Hopefully USA finally gets rid of yards. Switching to meters would better prepare us for the Olympics and international meets.
Money is one of the reasons 😢
@@Xandergood-z4w replacing every single set pool would not be worth it

@@h2owl205 that debate wont even come into question before the money situation, but still yes that is 10000 percent true
