I went to a GFW show in Winaton Salem in 2015, plus seeing GFW apart of Wrestle Cade in 2015
then the AML/GFW event in Hickory in 2016 plus seeing Cody Rhodes win the GFW NEXGEN title at Wrestlecade in 2016 and defend it in Winston Salem at the AML 2nd Anniversary show in January 2017.

Dixie really is the ultimate irony of TNA/Impact in hindsight. Without her the company dies almost immediately and never has the chance to reach s position where we can be disappointed about its missed potential because of poor business choices. But at the same time even though she saved it she also killed it in the sense of what it once was and could’ve grown to become. The major roadblock that stopped Viacom from purchasing equity of the company was because the Carter’s refused to remove Dixie from her position of power. Then you consider that they lost Spike as a network because of Dixie as well.
The full reason for the loss of Spike has never really been confirmed but from what’s out there the loss is mostly attributed to Spike being unable to trust Dixie and that she made some big demands at their renewal and that Spike finally just decided they were done. Whether she actually demanded a gigantic rights fee increase or not who knows but it really doesn’t seem far fetched to me when you see how she handled networks after Spike. I think she genuinely thought Spike owed her something and was never grateful for all the things Spike had done for TNA over the years that they didn’t have to do such as paying for their rebranding or paying for some talents on the roster. I think Spike got to a point where she was so ungrateful for all they were doing, and saw that the show wasn’t growing but instead steadily declining, and finally just moved on.
Her making silly demands of the network doesn’t seem crazy to me. After all TNA lsot destination America because Dixie got mad at the network and blasted the management of the network in an email that she CC’d the management on about their lack of promotion for TNA. And the big thing that had her so upset at DA was that they didn’t report DVR numbers in the ratings of the show - something that no network does. And a network would have no reason to tout DVR viewing anyways. The value of the shows ratings is to market to advertisers so they’ll pay for ads on the show. People viewing on DVR is the polar opposite of that for an advertiser as obviously the primary reason someone elects to wait to watch something on their DVR is to be able to skip through commercials which takes away any value that viewer poses to an advertiser. So when you see that she tanked a network relationship over a viewing metric that poses no benefit to the network and simply strokes her ego to say more people watch her show - even if that viewer can’t be monetized - it puts everything about how she operated in perspective.
So in the end she is the ultimate irony of TNAs failed potential. Without Dixie TNA dies immediately yet because of Dixie TNA collapsed and never became what it realistically could have become. And what’s sad about it in the end is that most of that results from nothing more than her ego and how she wanted to be a power player even if that effort came at the detriment of her company. One always has to wonder what could’ve been had she decided to accept what she didn’t know and let those qualified to run various operations do so. If she had TNA could still be a strong competitor in the wrestling market to this day rather than the company we are all amazed to see still exists albeit as a shell of what it once was.

At what point did Viacom wanted to purchase TNA? I never heard of that story. I did know that around 2013 Jeff and Toby Keith wanted to buy the company and a deal was almost made but the Carters wanted Dixie with some power and the deal died. The same reason Paul Heyman declined to join in. He wasn't promised full booking control.

Bischoff has spoken about it. But evidently it was during the time period between when UFC left Spike and when Viacom bought Bellator. So that would be some time between April - December 2011.

I was a fan of tna from the first show. When it turned into impact I kind of lost interest and hope. Just from the name standpoint it sounds cheesy and unfinished even if they added federation or something to the end to make it sound more professional

Impact is putting on the best shows they’ve done in well over a decade, possibly ever. They don’t have the stars that they had previously, but they’ve done a fantastic job in making new stars.
