and that's why I much prefer this version. It could slot straight into Dude Ranch - the best raw pop punk album of all time. Personally, I just didn't like the mainstream sound after DR.
Scott is like Chad Channing, Nirvana's first drummer. Both are great drummers who were replaced by 2 of the best drummers of all time. Unfortunately it gives them unfair scrutiny but Scott and Chad are still great drummers.
It's really unique. It has that Scott Sound. He completely changes the sound of the band. I always thought it was just them maturing but I guess I was wrong.
I really, really prefer Scott. Travis is obviously great, but I think he overdoes it a lot of the time. All those fancy fills are cool and sound great but nothing compares to Scott for me.
I’m not trying to ‘one up’ you man just sharing the love… I saw them back in 95 when they came to Australia for the first time. Pretty sure Scott Raynor was only 17 and the other 2 were 18. We and my 2 mates hung back after the show and we helped them carry their equipment out to their van. We hung out for a couple of hours. As you could imagine, Mark and Tom were absolute lunatics!!! Hahaha
+8gerrard8 that's how it always is! An 80 year old would prefer 60's music lol Just like you like the stuff you grew up with. I honestly like all their music. But nonetheless, Travis did make blink 182 "big". As a matter a fact people know Travis more than the rest of the group. And! ... He's probably the most known drummer.
im only 25 so when dude ranch came out i was only 6. this isnt about age, its just a fact that dude ranch is their best album, it has the fastest drumming, more punk vocals, best story telling, no autotuned vocals. i like some of enema, i also like all the small things and the fact that enema had a few songs that would have sounded good in dude ranch if you remove some of the autotune = this version of mutt, dumpweed, dysentary gary, anthem, aliens exist, what's my age again but after enema blink 182 lost the will to make music and just made easy pop music to make money off teenagers. i particularly hate the change in vocals from mark hoppus, he sounds so different in dude ranch compared to everything afterwards, he sold out the most whilst tom still had that raspy, aggressive tone in most of enema and then it vanished on the next albums as well. take off your pants doesnt compare to enema, let alone dude ranch.
i finally feel confident enough to share my two cents. it might be because i love punk rock, but scott will always be my preferred from the drummers. 21 days, im sorry, and this version of mutt. i love travis barker, but scott raynor helped to implement the name blink across the world. i hope he’s doing well. edit october 2023 - i’ve looked at this comment a lot recently, especially with tom coming back, and i’m not sure if it’s reflection or a change in preference. i gotta now say that i prefer scott in blink’s punk days, and travis in blink’s post-punk/current days, especially with “One More Time…” coming in a week. regardless, both contributed to the most important parts of blink respectively, and have influenced me and countless other drummers/musicians overall
I disagree. While I don't really care about Blink-182 anymore no matter who the guitarist and other singer is (that is not Mark), Tom could NOT sing for anything! I swear, either he always used autotune on studio recordings, or his singing just deteriorated over the years..... I've yet to see or hear a live recording pre-Enema where he sounded in key, at least similar in key with any songs he sang on any Blink album.
I love Scotts snare sound better than the snare Travis uses. I think Travis bores 2 or 3 inch holes in the side to create a louder sound, but it creates this thin sound also. Where Scotts has some mid, low end sound to it.
Here's my take on the whole Travis vs. Scott thing... Travis plays to play, hence his technicality, and Scott plays the song. If Scott hadn't been kicked out, the band would've gone a completely different direction I think... Most of enema would probably sound like this... Which would've been awesome. But, hey, it is what it is. I like Travis a lot, but Scott was a better fit in my opinion.
dude youre the only one i found on here that totally agrees with me. scott had huge potential. travis is good too but its over casting scotts ability. it took scotts effort to get them to enema. nobody remembers that
Oh bore off, what an ignorant statement. Blink were hardly a punk band anyway! Most punk drummers lack individualism and just play the same beat super quick over and over. Travis offers way more than that.
Scott punished the drums, with strength and enthusiasm, really punk, thanks to Scott we had an excellent drums, that from 92 to 98, he was 14/19 years old, this boy did a good job and then he was replaced by someone with characteristics that served better for the transition that the band (MARK COF COF) wanted
Before you criticise Scott, just know that he played an entire show while in crutches after an injury. The skate punk style of drumming requires a lot of energy and effort. We probably will; never know the real reason Scott was fired from the band. Travis certainly added a distinct flavour to them, but I think sometimes, his fills and intricate playing kind of overlapped the song itself at times. Some songs sounds better with just accurate and linear drumming. I also loved the Snare sound they had on Dude Ranch. The snare sound they gave to Travis' drums don't sound as full, it sounds kinda shallow.
this is probably what enema would have sounded like without travis... wow Edit: just for clarification I’m glad travis joined and he’s what they needed as a band to get as big as they did
i fucking wish! travis seems like a cool dude and hes obv a hell of a drummer, but this band fucking died when Scott was gone. i cant even imagine how good Enema coulda been, looking at Cheshire then Dude Ranch
@@cags113 Blink would have been just another punk band like mxpx, milencolin, pulley etc all those great bands from the early 90s. nothing wrong with that but they'd never reach the heights they did without travis.
@@lv999sozkyy4 They’d probably be at the same level of Fame As Rush or something. Not too Big, but Big enough to garner fans who aren’t just interested in the 2 or 3 hit songs the band put out. And they probably wouldn’t be pressured by their record label and not have their creative freedom be limited.
Then Listen To I Won’t be Home For Christmas; recorded at the same time as This version of Mutt with Scott. It Would be the base for stuff like The Rock Show and First Date on TOYPAJ.
Hey guys I have an idea! Because next year is the 20 year anniversary of Cheshire Cat, Blink should play through the whole album. Not only that, but they should bring in Scott! The crowd would go nuts once they see him up there on that stage!
The Scott vs. Travis debate is worthless, without Scott there wouldn't have been blink at all most likely. They were best friends and were successfull made great music and had fun doing what they did. Scott was a key of the band like Mark and Tom, they together started from the bottom, crafted Carousel, M+M's, Wasting Time, Peggy Sue, Dammit, Josie just to name a few of their more popular songs but also blasts like 21 Days, Touchdown Boy, Does My Breath Smell?, Enthused, Wrecked Him and more give you the good vibes of californian teenage summer days back then. Scott fitted them from the start they went to school together and climb up the charts and popularity I couldn't imagine Travis on their original early blink records. But.. without Scott going away, blink probably wouldn't evolve to what they sounded like since Enema of the State, more polished for the new age instead of just fast and beating great sounds. Though, songs like Dammit and Josie must been written much later 1996/1997 as they sound more towards EOTS in a way, some Dude Ranch songs appeared on very early demos like Demo #2 and Buddha Promo Tape. Going from Scott to Travis was a good thing, but sad thing. Either way blink would have been great but probably different in a way. Some say, Travis was the better drummer.. I mean come on he was 5/6 years older than Scott and more experienced. Mark, Tom und Scott were young and grew blink together and had the same punky sound that fitted them together perfectly. Travis came from a various music genre with Hip Hop roots too bringing into a different pattern to blink. Scott and Travis have their legacy in blink-182, just like Mark and Tom. It's sad that Scott did go, but Travis was great addition to go further.
If you think about it Scott was between 14yo to 19yo playing the drums in Blink. That is totally mind-blowing - you had to be talented to pull that off. It is unfair to compare Travis, who was in his mid-twenties, to a teenage kid with raw talent that never developed beyond a bloody good punk drummer. I reckon Scott could have developed further as a drummer for Blink but we will never know now.
@@Dr4go0 I don't mind his new voice on records, but I know his voice live is questionable. I'm going to see AvA this fall (first time seeing him perform live), so that'll be interesting.
Holy fuck this is good. I wonder what Enema would sound like if Scott was still in the band. Dude Ranch is fucking fantastic and is honestly pretty much my favorite blink material, and Enema the way it is is also fantastic, but I really wish they would've made more stuff with Scott after Dude Ranch. It'd be AWESOME to have a version of Enema or other new songs (at the time) with Scott in them. A good mix of that mainstream-pop punk sound and that rougher, dude ranch punky sound.
I believe their original stuff would have not taken them this far as of today with out Travis. Although, I do believe their stuff was good for its era.
It’s really funny getting notifications for comments I made 4 years ago, I can’t even tell ya the last time I listened to blink, it’s just been a lot of straight edge hardcore 😬
What's ironic is now Tom feels the pains of being an outsider.... Without Scott having got them started, Blink may not be where they are today..... or maybe they would. But, he had an upbeat, punk go-for-it vibe.
Scott will always be the Blink 182 drummer for me. Travis is a much better drummer than he is, but Scott fits better with the original sound (the only music of theirs with staying power).
If Enema was produced by Mark Trombino it would've been totally different and probably way more like Dude Ranch, which would've been amazing. Travis did change the sound a lot too because he wasn't into playing typical punk rhythms. He likes to be flashy and it totally changed the feel of their songs. Watching Travis play fast punk beats actually is funny, he looks so damn tense. Scott looked way more natural playing fast and seemed to hit way harder too. Blink really did peak at Dude Ranch, which is sad.
Yeah this is my take as well. This version sounds earnest and rough, particularly without the triple tracked vocals that are in Enema. It feels more direct in a way that I like but doesn’t play well on radio. Love how Scott’s drumming makes this song kind of float along. There’s a fun sense of momentum in this version because of it.
Yes good point is I liked Nirvana debut Bleach which there drummer was Chad Channing which thought was better than follow up Nevermind which had Dave Grohl Dave is an amazing drummer but wasn't in my opinion better than Bleach. Same with Blink there early years with Scott was more rawer & less commercial not denying Travis isn't an amazing drummer like Dave Grohl because he his. But like Nirvana debut Bleach which had Chad Channing drumming the same is said for Blink when they had Scott Flyswatter, Buddha, Chesire Cat & Dude Ranch where amazing and lot rawer less commercial than there later stuff just my opinion though. Not saying you can ever have good sound be commercial course you can but depends for you want to go with being commercial and playing to the majors.
Travis has the ability to create hooks with his drums that are just as catchy as any of Blink’s Na Na Na choruses. You can really notice this in the breakdowns. Similar artists that come to mind are Ringo, who has killer drum hooks- think Come Together - and, for a different instrument Slash, whose solos are as catchy as any of Axel’s vocals. Think of the solo in Sweet Child of Mine as one example. That’s not to say that Scott is bad. He is a straight forward punk drummer who can invoke emotion from the intensity of his playing. But for a 3 piece, where each player takes up a larger percentage than an average-sized band, having another hook contributor is invaluable. Would Adam’s song be what it was without the drum beat? Songs like this give us a window into who the band might have been and who the band became. Thank you!
I think Scott was Capable of creating hooks or memorable drum parts as well; hasn’t shown as much as Travis has, but he certainly can. Stuff like The Drum Intro of My Pet sally, the Bridge after the chorus on Untitled (song), Or even the Drum intro and fills on - I Won’t be home for Christmas - are some examples where Scott can display some pretty memorable and hooky drum parts too; That Example of that Drum lick on - Come Together -, I’d say the Beginning Drum part of Enthused is somewhat like a fast, punkier version of that. But much like Ringo, he was more into doing what the songs called for and what suited them best, whether it be playing to a groove, matching bass/guitar lines, or incorporate a pretty sick beat/rhythm if need be. As far as A three piece is concerned, I think Scott fit right in with Mark and Tom and contributed a lot with his playing, akin to someone like Philthy Animal Taylor from Motörhead or something; and part of the reason why those songs/albums with him are still held up in high regard along side the Travis-era stuff. Cheers. Too long, IK. Lol
Def much more raw than the final version. Although Scott's drumming is just fine, Travis put the cherry on top with his fills, and along with Jerry Finn helped round out blink into the form and direction that brought them stardom. That's not taking anything away from Scott, in fact its hard to imagine either Cheshire or Dude Ranch with Travis on the kit instead, its just that with Scott (and minus Finn) I feel that blink would have remained on the same level as an Unwritten Law, Lagwagon, Goldfinger, etc. and there also would have been nothing wrong with that if it had played out that way.
This was so cool, didn't know this version existed! I love that it basically sounds like it belongs on Dude Ranch. Kinda makes you wonder what Enema would of sounded without all that production polish (not bashing enema, great album, but it does make you wonder). Cool upload thanks!
I think Travis made them not sound like every other band out there. Travis does things that no one else in the genre does, Scott did exactly what everyone else did. There's nothing wrong with, Travis just made them more unique.
@@hmac7187 At that time all the drummers in the punk scene sounded like him, travis did create a new way of playing drums. But today is hard to find someone that smashes the snare like Scott used to do.
@@Farfarawai Travis didn't create a new way of playing drums, he just overplayed the crap out of them. And being as tight and precise as he was, no one was gonna turn that down. That's like telling Neil Peart to dial it down a bit.
Ok, I'm 16 and i was born in 1998, this is coming from someone who was growing to the travis era. But this is way better then the remake. Yeah Travis is a sick ass drummer but, to me its Mark, Tom & Scott. Even though i love Travis's work
Their career would be so different is Scott wasn't fired And the fact that he was 20 when they made this demo Scott was young mark was 23 and tom was 21
Blink wouldn't be what they are today without Travis. Scott's a great solid drummer, but Travis entering the band literally brought them to new heights.
I bought this soundtrack back in the day just for this track. Scott had such a heavy, hard hitting style on the drums. I prefer the simplicity of him hitting the hell out of his drums over the flourishes and fills that Travis adds. Different era.
Looking back at this, wiw you can really hear the difference in drum tones. This one sounds so much better in my opinion, "the oh yeah harmony is more vibrant, the guitar riffs are better in my opinion, etc..
Ok i actually prefer this version. Now dont get me wrong,i love Travis and hs style of druming is amazing, but one slight problem i always had is that he sometimes plays in ways that dont really serve the song, and were overwhelming.Mutt for example is a fantastic example of this.Although i do like the travis version,it really outshines the other guys.Scott Raynor more laid back style does more justice for this song in my opinion
Scott was good for their old music. But they sorta changed genres and received Travis. Can you imagine Scott playing their new stuff with them? I like them both but Travis screws their old songs by a lot. He adds too much to songs like Dammit or Carousel live.
This is proof that overplaying can completely change a song, as a drummer I always say play what’s right for the song and I really love this punk roots version better! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I don't understand how people are saying Scott's version of this is better then Travis? This shit sounds horrible, Travis played the fuck out of this song on Enema. I love it, Scott was too bland, had no substance. He was boring on the drums. Travis makes the drums come alive.
Let's be honest... Travis is the perfect drummer for blink-182. He just has all the energy, stamina and plays with his full emotion and heart. You can also hear the difference in the bass pedal how it lacks more movement and energy. Travis just makes this song great.
I prefer scotts power. travis may be more technical but he hits like a bitch compared to scott. the snare sounds amazing on this. just watch live videos for more proof.
jazzblaster i do agree with you 50/50. Why? Because travis is a hard hitter too the thing people dont realize is travis plays and moves his wrist more so there isnt much arm movement making him look like he isnt hitting hard when travis is abit heavy handed. With scott he puts alot of force into his hitting which is why he moves his arms alot not just his wrist. That is one of the main reasons he hits way harder because he uses the weight of his entire arm.
I wasn't trying to knock travis but it is very obvious to me the difference in the band when they replaced scott. Scott has way more power in his technique, sound, and look. Travis is more methodical. His snare sound is so thin though. Personally, I wish they would've stuck with scott at least until enema. Those songs would've sounded amazing with scott. Travis slowed them down to add variety, but I prefer the speed of scotts era.
Honestly I like Scott better. I feel like if you listened to Dude Ranch when it came out you would like Scott because you always listened to it, Like if you started to like Blink on Enema of the State you more likely to like Travis better. Scott is an amazing punk drummer and made blink Punk. And people who say he does the same beat over and over doesnt know what punk drumming is. and that's why I much prefer this version. It could slot straight into Dude Ranch - the best raw pop punk album of all time. Personally, I just didn't like the mainstream sound after DR.
This song should be in Dude Ranch.
Eder Diogo Martins that would be impossible as the song was written after dude ranch came out.
sounds like it would have been.
Should have been in dude ranch
A lot of Enema of the State songs sound like Dude Ranch .
Emiliano Dean hell no none of them do its to polished and commercialised dude ranch wasn't. They took them selves less seriously
The Enema version is nice and polished and in perfect time which is why it's dope, and this clearly Dude Ranch version is dope cause that guitar tone!
It's not at all from Dude Ranch
@@PrincessDesert I think he meant more “dude ranch era”
It sounds more in line with that sound
Yes!
I love this one so much more. It sounds way more raw, I prefer the drums actually. It sounds like the stuff I like from them.
Yeah, just listened to the one again and found it too poppy and annoying for my tastes.
Hell yeah dude.
this sounds a little too much like Dude Ranch to me. That's not a bad thing, but the more produced, poppy sound is what made them famous
Brandon The reason it sounds like Dude Ranch is why I like it :)
If you prefer this Drums over the real version....then you are a stubborn Scott-wannabe idiot
Scott is like Chad Channing, Nirvana's first drummer. Both are great drummers who were replaced by 2 of the best drummers of all time. Unfortunately it gives them unfair scrutiny but Scott and Chad are still great drummers.
I’ve said that before
There are about 40 drummers higher than Travis on the all time list, he is good though for sure.
Hahahahahaha Travis Barker is nowhere near one of the best drummers of all time!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣. He wouldn’t even make the top 20!
@@timsunderland5153 he is certainly one of the best drummers currently alive

I love Tom's vocals in this
That Tom DeLonge "annoying younger brother" vocal sound from Dude Ranch! I fuckin' love his vocals on that album.
Yup, sounds like it could have been on Dude Ranch
Haha, annoying younger brother...I really like that description. : D
It's really unique. It has that Scott Sound. He completely changes the sound of the band. I always thought it was just them maturing but I guess I was wrong.
That shows that the drummer is a very important character in a band
I really, really prefer Scott. Travis is obviously great, but I think he overdoes it a lot of the time. All those fancy fills are cool and sound great but nothing compares to Scott for me.
@@Ballonpoire39I agree.
The REAL version. Saw them play this in '97.
So lucky man
I’m not trying to ‘one up’ you man just sharing the love… I saw them back in 95 when they came to Australia for the first time. Pretty sure Scott Raynor was only 17 and the other 2 were 18.
We and my 2 mates hung back after the show and we helped them carry their equipment out to their van. We hung out for a couple of hours. As you could imagine, Mark and Tom were absolute lunatics!!! Hahaha
No you didnt

Best mutt version 🔥
Many Blink fans prefer Travis over Scott. But I always liked Scotts style of drumming.
Many blink fans are also 15 year olds that prefer their shit music to cheshire cat and dude ranch
+8gerrard8 I'm 14 and I love every single song in every single albums.
+8gerrard8 that's how it always is!
An 80 year old would prefer 60's music lol
Just like you like the stuff you grew up with.
Can confirm. I'm only 17, and I think Dude Ranch is one of the best Blink albums ever.
different drummers, different styles... love them both!!! Blink forever!
i finally feel confident enough to share my two cents. it might be because i love punk rock, but scott will always be my preferred from the drummers. 21 days, im sorry, and this version of mutt. i love travis barker, but scott raynor helped to implement the name blink across the world. i hope he’s doing well.
edit october 2023 - i’ve looked at this comment a lot recently, especially with tom coming back, and i’m not sure if it’s reflection or a change in preference. i gotta now say that i prefer scott in blink’s punk days, and travis in blink’s post-punk/current days, especially with “One More Time…” coming in a week. regardless, both contributed to the most important parts of blink respectively, and have influenced me and countless other drummers/musicians overall
im pretty sure hes a cop now!
tom should have stayed toghether for the kids
😂👏
How can he do that when the security of our country is at risk with aliens practically knocking on our galaxy?
thumbs up only because of your name
F
I agree totally with you, TRAVIS IS A FUCKING SHIT commercialism!
dude youre the only one i found on here that totally agrees with me. scott had huge potential. travis is good too but its over casting scotts ability. it took scotts effort to get them to enema. nobody remembers that
joaquin monserrat You know nothing.
You do not know what is the real punk.
*Recorded and Played Dude Ranch while in Crutches. Don't think he played a show right after that injury.
Travis is insane but i prefer scotts raw more sloppy style. Travis is a machine, scott was street punk
Travis is better, but Scott is more punk
Travis is Punk....
Emiliano Dean Scott is more punk sounding and raw, Travis is an extremely technical drummer.
@@Anewbreed you're saying that, because Travis also plays Hip-Hop...
They're saying its has more of Punk feel with scott. Which is true!
Not who looks more punk..

Such a difference. I think Scotts version is honest and real. The travis version is polished and poppy.
I wonder how people get this stuff. Even Flyswatter. You had to be in a school where Tom was selling the Flyswatter cassettes.
I think he put flyers up around town and he left his address on them.
my pfp is toypaj
this is probably what enema would have sounded like without travis... wow
Edit: just for clarification I’m glad travis joined and he’s what they needed as a band to get as big as they did
i fucking wish! travis seems like a cool dude and hes obv a hell of a drummer, but this band fucking died when Scott was gone. i cant even imagine how good Enema coulda been, looking at Cheshire then Dude Ranch
@@cags113 Blink would have been just another punk band like mxpx, milencolin, pulley etc all those great bands from the early 90s. nothing wrong with that but they'd never reach the heights they did without travis.

Hey guys I have an idea! Because next year is the 20 year anniversary of Cheshire Cat, Blink should play through the whole album. Not only that, but they should bring in Scott! The crowd would go nuts once they see him up there on that stage!
That would pretty awesome. But only bring in Scott for maybe a few songs. Or just not at all
Nick Hymel Can you imagine Tom trying to sing Cheshire cat songs now though, haha
Haha OMG ikr
Sorry man, but i think this is impossible.. scott is out, i think it would be disgusting for mark and tom been playing with scott again
Nahuu Barrios Tom isn't part of blink anymore.
Love how punk this sounds. Just amazing.
FUCK your SCOTT Blink would have existed with or without him
Well said.
@@PrincessDesertTom and Scott literally started the band, dude. So they definitely wouldn’t have existed without him.
Tom's voice sounds so good here. Hard to believe how much it's changed over the years
Yea it was his best voice ever..sadly now he hates how his voice was back then

Holy fuck this is good. I wonder what Enema would sound like if Scott was still in the band. Dude Ranch is fucking fantastic and is honestly pretty much my favorite blink material, and Enema the way it is is also fantastic, but I really wish they would've made more stuff with Scott after Dude Ranch. It'd be AWESOME to have a version of Enema or other new songs (at the time) with Scott in them. A good mix of that mainstream-pop punk sound and that rougher, dude ranch punky sound.
It would've been punk rock! Not the lame pop punk style that made them millions with travis. Straight sold out sound.
scott is something.much better for blink than Travis, their original skate punk sound was my favorite
I believe their original stuff would have not taken them this far as of today with out Travis.
Although, I do believe their stuff was good for its era.

This recording is proof that Blink could write EOTS without Travis. Mutt is one of blinks best tracks right up there with every other song they write.
What's ironic is now Tom feels the pains of being an outsider.... Without Scott having got them started, Blink may not be where they are today..... or maybe they would. But, he had an upbeat, punk go-for-it vibe.
This version is more punk than cd version
Scott will always be the Blink 182 drummer for me. Travis is a much better drummer than he is, but Scott fits better with the original sound (the only music of theirs with staying power).
Would of loved him on one more album
Loved his style
Travis is a better drummer
Scott was a punk drummer
Scott was a Hard rock/Heavy metal drummer. Both of them played in Punk bands but Scott made Blink raw and Dirty.
Travis was also 3 years older and more experienced

Shit I just noticed that
Scott Travis from Racer X and Judas Priest.
I have always preferred the way Scott played the drums in Blink records, especially on Dude Ranch.
Scott > Travis
Skill, schmill he fit this band so well.
Reynor was a drumming beast. This version is incredible.
More of a 'skate punk' sound with Scott, which I prefer. Probably wouldn't have been as big as they got if he stayed tho.
Yeah this is my take as well. This version sounds earnest and rough, particularly without the triple tracked vocals that are in Enema. It feels more direct in a way that I like but doesn’t play well on radio.
Love how Scott’s drumming makes this song kind of float along. There’s a fun sense of momentum in this version because of it.
after hearing the demo this definitely sounds like a song that would've been better suited for dude ranch than enema
I can't believe how good is this version!
The drum and guitar part around 3:01 and then until the end of the song I think sounds way better than the version with Travis as drummer.
Blink with Scott was the best punk band ever. Better musicians don't always make a better band.
I AGREE! YES!
I disagree wholeheartedly.
@@Emacula93 I agree wholeheartedly

Not saying you can ever have good sound be commercial course you can but depends for you want to go with being commercial and playing to the majors.
wow what a difference expensive record production and producers, sound engineers make
OG is better IMO!
I love how it sounds so much more punk with Scott. I love Travis and he's a great drummer, but Blink 182 was far more punk with Scott as their drummer
this is a better version...the "oh yeeeh" vocal harmony is better than the flat version on the album
Scott and Travis are both beasts
I think for certain songs, Scotts tempo is better, I like Scotts version of Carousel best
That's a very cool version. I wonder what "Enema Of The State" would sound like if they kept Raynor on drums.
Man, I remember reading about this song before EOTS was released. It took me forever to find this one floating around the internet.
Wow... Just learned what "punk" is... thanks fam. Love Scott and Travis... Both were great back in the day.
Listen to this and their new single and tell me what's better. They need to jam like this man
I think Travis made them not sound like every other band out there. Travis does things that no one else in the genre does, Scott did exactly what everyone else did. There's nothing wrong with, Travis just made them more unique.
That's funny I think the exact opposite
@@hmac7187 At that time all the drummers in the punk scene sounded like him, travis did create a new way of playing drums. But today is hard to find someone that smashes the snare like Scott used to do.
@@Farfarawai Travis didn't create a new way of playing drums, he just overplayed the crap out of them. And being as tight and precise as he was, no one was gonna turn that down. That's like telling Neil Peart to dial it down a bit.

Blink sounded much better with Scott, punk rock feeling with a touch of the ramones style

Love this. Sounds straight off of Dude Ranch
Ok, I'm 16 and i was born in 1998, this is coming from someone who was growing to the travis era. But this is way better then the remake. Yeah Travis is a sick ass drummer but, to me its Mark, Tom & Scott. Even though i love Travis's work
Their career would be so different is Scott wasn't fired
And the fact that he was 20 when they made this demo
Scott was young mark was 23 and tom was 21
OK BUT HEARING TOM'S TRANSITION VOICE BETWEEN HIS RAW DUDE RANCH VOICE AND HIS WHINY ENEMA VOICE??????
I'm crying. They could have been so good
Crying? Really?
Crying? They were good.
Blink wouldn't be what they are today without Travis. Scott's a great solid drummer, but Travis entering the band literally brought them to new heights.
I kinda prefer this version the drums are so much cooler and punkier
I bought this soundtrack back in the day just for this track. Scott had such a heavy, hard hitting style on the drums. I prefer the simplicity of him hitting the hell out of his drums over the flourishes and fills that Travis adds. Different era.
And, by the way, Oasis did the same thing to Tony McCarroll..........he was the drummer who added the melody to Oasis
Yeah same thing. White was good too.
Looking back at this, wiw you can really hear the difference in drum tones. This one sounds so much better in my opinion, "the oh yeah harmony is more vibrant, the guitar riffs are better in my opinion, etc..
Wow*
This is the only version I listen to
Ok i actually prefer this version.
Exactly. Scott’s grooves to the bass and guitars, giving them more room to breath, while also accentuating them at certain points.
Scott is punk but travis can literally do anything on the kit. The drums wouldn't be anything special if Scott were still there
I disagree. Travis has talent. But Scott played MUSIC. Much better when Scott was the drummer.
what the fuck is that supposed to mean? lol
Scott was good for their old music. But they sorta changed genres and received Travis. Can you imagine Scott playing their new stuff with them? I like them both but Travis screws their old songs by a lot. He adds too much to songs like Dammit or Carousel live.
***** Me too.
Whats wrong with how he plays it live
This is proof that overplaying can completely change a song, as a drummer I always say play what’s right for the song and I really love this punk roots version better! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I want to just see what EOTS would look like without any of the overdrumming and with Scott on drums
Would be way less pop punk and a lot more punk rock.
Travis have the high ground
Scott is so on the money in this one and I love Tom's rawness. Definately prefer this version
This is the stuff that keeps the darkness at bay whether you’re twelve or thirty five
I don't understand how people are saying Scott's version of this is better then Travis? This shit sounds horrible, Travis played the fuck out of this song on Enema. I love it, Scott was too bland, had no substance. He was boring on the drums. Travis makes the drums come alive.
People like the original stuff better than Travis brining his hip hop crap into it
Agreed. Mark & Tom needed his skills of embellishment and hip hop style to make them one of the biggest bands in the world late 90s early 2000s.
Because nostalgia man. As a drummer even I prefer the one with Scott.
Saw the original tape recording of this in the studio where this was recorded the other day, super cool
EOTS version sounds more poppy, this sounds more punky.
I’m not sure why, maybe it’s the mixing or the vocals or the tone of the guitar but this version just sounds better to me
Loved tom's voice in this old one. Better than the Enema
Travis made them justlike every otherband out there. . this version of Mutt sounds better and is more Punk
Scott FTW
Better then the normal one
