Last week, a Vet asked me "How do you get rated for PTSD when you weren't infantry, didn't fire your weapon, but were in a high action location or on a FOB that was mortared alot?" I asked if he was diagnosed with PTSD, he said yes. But I admitted to him that I'm the wrong guy to ask. The VA is crazy. I felt it was a good question though.
I never personally got shot at while I was deployed to Afghanistan but I had a major choking incident while I was there that gave me PTSD because I have to encounter that "stressor" event everyday even ten years later.
How do I claim mental health I got out in 99, but always had problems, depression anxiety and such don't go to Dr much, thanks Semper Fi,

If there was a situation in which he feared for his life “his stressor” then that’s all the VA needs.

I think they removed tinnitus.
