Super grateful to you for sharing your work. It's been amazing to see how far that song has come since you started mixing. Curious when you know it's 'done?' You hit a couple points where it sounded perfect and then you took it further. I realize it's history and instincts etc but curious if you have any thoughts about when 'done' is 'done.'? Also, why aren't you using the built in Console feature?

Oh man, that's a great question. I don't really know how to tell when something is finished, but sometimes I just get a feel that it is "there". Usually when I get that feeling, I take a little break, then come back and listen to the mix from start to finish without judging it. If it feels good, I'm done. If something takes me out of the song (like a wonky sounding guitar or something) then I know I need to do more work.
As for not using the built in console, it's just because I simply haven't purchased the API Console bundle. :) I have the API Channel Strip and the API 2500 Compressor, but I don't own the API summing or the stand-alone preamp. Maybe I'll pick it up before the sale ends though. I really enjoyed using it while demo'ing it!

Is there a UAD plug-in that came with my UAD equipment that does what the Pro Q3 does?

There is the Precision Channel Strip which has a really great EQ on it, but as far as an included plugin that does what the Pro Q3 does (frequency analyzer, unlimited bands, etc) there isn't. There are other EQ plugins out there that have a similar tool set as the Pro Q3, but I'm just used to using the FabFilter at this point. If I find something similar to it for cheaper I'll let you know! Take care!
