- At the end of March, most of Ontario was shut down due to the outbreak of COVID-19 for the unforeseeable future, leaving empty streets and an eerie feeling in a deserted metropolis.
These are the views of the empty city from above, during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

Everybody was at Costco
LOL
they legit were, my dudes.
Not everybody, or its the world's biggest Costco!
Rick Griffin 😂😂😂😂
No....everybody in Ottawa wete at Quebec Border getting hassled by the Gatineau Cops for trying to cross to Quebec to buy BEER on Easter Sunday
Proud of you Ottawa, Ontario... and Canada. When it counted, we pulled together and did our part- Thanx from a front line worker...
Bittersweet. It's sad to see how different things are now. But also makes me optimistic that our city is taking social distancing very seriously which is good. We're in this together.
Indeed. Baaaa baaaa baaaaaah!
So dystopian. The city looks beautifully empty. The fear was palpable back then. It is surreal to view this as a historical masterpiece.
Thank you all of Ottawa and Gatineau for staying inside, we are doing an amazing job, and this will be gone in no time if we keep it up, stay inside and stay safe
This made me feel so emotional 🥺
Did you cry?
@Johnny Daniels Grow a brain.
Looked apocalyptic and deserted like a ghost town. But, we'll get through it. All of us. We can do it. :)
It's Ottawa........it always looks like that
And we have. :-)
Would love a copy of this video. To look back one day and show my kids how we stayed home during this scary time.
So weird to see CANADÁ capital so empty. As an Ottawa Citizen this makes me sad
Javier Rodriguez Fossi same here
You are a ottawanian
Says the settler
Kolden Geese I mean it’s just to easy 😂
I love my city. It’s crazy to watch this. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Ottawa always looks like that between 9 PM and 6 am lol it is weird to see it like that in daylight
So true! Though kinda looks like that after 6pm downtown every day.
Thank you @Honzybear, this was so beautiful to watch, and something I really needed to see, thanks
I've lived here my whole life and NEVER seen it so eerily empty and quiet! We usually manage to stay out of the World woes as I call them but this video shows there are NO boundaries to a novel and as yet incurable virus. It was awesome to see MY City like this. Really well done. I live out in the boonies but on a main road in to Town and I can tell you it's NEVER been so quiet and empty!! Imagine the clips like this from EVERY City and Town around the World ?! THAT would look apocalyptic !
Great video man!
As a current ontarian,I almost cried when I heard Ford’s voice in background. Also great music too.
This is going to be history in the future, we will look back at this when we are more older inshallah.
@Johnny Daniels yes you're right more people die of the common flu. The issue with COVID-19 is its R-NOT factor, is the rate at which it infects is a lot higher than the common flu. COVID-19'S R-NOT is between 2 to 2.3, whereas the flu's R-NOT is 0.8.
So if we did not lockdown we would have an issue, like certain parts of Italy, where we would overwhelm our health care system. Canada has done very well with our social distancing strategy.
@@callumanderson2645 Oh yes, if YOU survive, get a grip!!
The difference in number of deaths between 60, 70 and 80% levels of social distancing are huge. Let’s keep it up Ottawa!
Had Ontario and the rest of Canada sheltered our elderly and weak only and not implicated shutdowns , school closures and social distancing we as a country would be well on the downward side of the curve to recovery . Financially it would had saved government billions and our economy wouldn't be so damaged and on a direct path to a huge recession . All our current state does is flatten the curve and prolong the epidemic !
And you know this how?
The way they are classifying these deaths is questionable to say the least. Most people have multiple serious conditions to begin with and this might put them over the edge as a flu might have done in prior years. However the doctors and hospitals are told to put it down as a covid death without any proof that's what the main cause was. Also, the number of confirmed cases is completely unknown. The number they show you is from those who have been tested. There could be 10x as many that had it and had none to moderate symptoms.
Do you know what propaganda is? This is it, at it's worst. And they've gotten most people to go along with it like cattle. Funny thing is, when this is all over, they will force you to take their special vaccine, not by force, but simply out of inconvenience. If you want to take public transportation, or have a job, or go to a concert, or take any part in society, you will have to have your papers, saying you're certified and stamped...like cattle.
Stop being so naive, and stop thinking the government has our best interests at heart, and for god's sake, stop listening to the media.
@@doubleud2140 alright nance get off the iPad and put down the wine
Erie look and feel of the city. The music is spot-on. At least Canadians are not in the streets protesting the lockdown like we've seen in the US.
This photgraphy will make history. Great job! Thank you.👍👌👊😷
This is beautiful and eerie! But as tough as this is now, we will get through this ❤️
Wow, nice video, goosebumps in beginning hearing fords announcement. Never thought will hear an announcement like that
Thank you for making this video. It touched me then and it touches me now as we are making our way out of this nightmare.
watching this got me a lil emotional lol well done 👍
We got this Ottawa!
This is... Almost post apocalyptic
Present apocalyptic
Post
Not enough blowing garbage or lingering mobs of zombies.
just from lack of veg.. if he re took the vid in summer itd look nicer
Pre apocalypse...Covid is a walk in the park compared to what your children will see.
Shoutout to all my fellow Ottawa family! We will get through this!
Good job, that is beautiful! I don’t know much about video editing but that sync with the music was impressive
This was beautifully heartbreaking... the New Normal has begun. Stay safe everyone, for this too shall pass.
And it has....
"Fifty thousand people used to live in this city. Now it's a ghost town."
Same energy.
Was about to say that
I remember watching this when it came out. It feels like so long ago even tho it was only 3 months. Quarantine makes life feel so slow
This is so well done! Been meaning to take my drone out around ottawa!

@@denniscombe7717 for sure! Lucky for me i use the mini so its under the 250g rules but i still check the website for fly zones and am trying to keep up to date with the different rules. :)
You have something here that is special. We are all having a tough time and trying to get through this together. This video shows how we are all doing g our best. You have a fantastic talent. I will be sharing this everywhere. Yiu ahve captured this time in an artistic way that yes is still sad but it gave me a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude that I have fellow Ontario residents behind me ! Bless you
Stay Strong Ottawa!
I could have sworn this was Ottawa after 5pm on any given day......booooorinng town!!!!!
Lmao 💀
These shots must have been taken early in the morning or modified because it's not really like that. Sure traffic is much lower but it's not deserted like it's depicted in this video. We're not in a lockdown like in Europe.
Moose Man I agree. I live in Ottawa, and it’s no where near this empty. There’s still quiet a few people out from the few times I’ve gone out to grocery run or anything.
Merivale is now tolerable...
Looks like taken at 5 am. I live end of Rideau Lowertown East. Homebound fir a year battiling Cancer. Used to self isolation. Pro at it now!
@@CanadaSlaw1234 Agreed. Looks like its taken right around dawn. Still, on a normal day it would be much busier than that, even at that time.
Well done, this really pulled at my heartstrings. 💜
Geeze, great footage and well put together. I wish I had more guts to fly back then. Although you were right by my house a few times. :-)
I must say these shots are bittersweet. Its amazing to see it but its also saddening to see a once lively city turned into this.
Just for now because we love each other.
Sad, beautiful, inspiring, terrifying. Great job.
This was a mix of so many emotions but mostly shocking that this is upon us. Hard to say when this really began to hit everyone. We did hear bits about this virus earlier in the year but nothing specific or from "trusted" sources. I definitely remember MARCH 11 as the day that I knew this was huge and I referred to it as the tipping point........strange. I wonder how others remember when they knew the seriousness of this virus?
Une ville-fantôme comme toutes les villes du Québec et d'ailleurs. Triste réalité!
This is really well done!
Ottawa is Beautiful City
This is creepy! Lived here my whole life, never seen it this deserted. It is so Quiet!
Lol no bylaw to give drone ticket either. Nice video. Thank you
Thank you for capturing this.
Nice work. Keep it up!
Great Job! Reinforces what's happening.
Simply. Haunting.
It would be a good time to shoot a sci-fy movie. Great video
Thank you 🙏🏻
Very sad. We are living in historic times!
This is so well done ❤️
When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a video of Pripyat!
Stay home for save life
Nice view thank you
Beautiful
Reminds me of the opening scene from Gone Baby Gone
Great vid!
It's been very busy and a little hectic for some community Local homeless shelters out there. I wish everyone stays safe and clean out there.
Great Job Ottawa at trying to get COVID-19 under control. 952 dead nationwide, as at April 14. Ottawa is a beautiful city.
Travel an hour west and the streets are bustling with life
great video bubba
Check the places where people actually live you'll see quite a different picture.
I'm in the south end, and it's still pretty quiet. More car traffic going along Bank, but far less than normal. I can leave my windows open and hear the birds without the constant rumbling of trucks and buses and cars going by. And as it's currently 4/20, I can also hear my downstairs neighbors coughing and watching what sounds like Space Jam. Ah, city life.
@Harold Jenkins technically bank goes to the 401, but is called highway 31 somewhere around letrium. Ottawa South is more like south keys, Finlay creek, Greely. Barrhaven is more central, just south to Nepean.
Sweet
Wish sudbury ontario would listen like this just stay home instead of driving around catching Corona
The whole time I was looking for Foodie Beauty going on one of her "essential" fast food runs lmao 😆
What time of the day did you shoot these scenes? Some hours of the day are probably less busy than others. Regardless, a great sign that we are staying the f home :)
Looks ealy morning from the long shadows
One shot of the Ottawa river showed it at sunset watch it hundreds of times
Amazing footage, thank you for sharing this. Can I ask what model of drone you used?
1:12 that's my school
Geez you'd think it was 11 pm if it wasn't for the sunlight.
Idk chief. Have any one you looked out of your window? Parking lots around me are filled as they always were. Lots of traffic too
this video will be archived to be seen like 50 years from now
I guess the color saturation for this video is a bit low. Dunno whether it is intentional.
Hopefully the city takes this time to fix the roads goddamn
This is why I'm tired of hearing STFH....we are. But still, the restrictions tighten.
Yep. The more we comply, the more they demand.
@@gregd166 Silence plebians! Submit or the bug will get you!
Still significant traffic near me, but I do live near a hospital.
Summer is coming
What drone did you use to capture this beautiful video?
I miss you too much
is that adult high school at 2:07?
Great video...and yes it was a ghost town for weeks and weeks and weeks..I live on the busiest street dt......it was like a zombie movie....getting back to 'normal' now thanks to Canadians being respectfull and masking and distancing....keep the border close to USAholes
Dammit Thanos.....
Need to get a radio in case the Wifi goes out
This gives me an idea for a video..
That is not going to happen but get a radio anyway!! Everyone needs a radio 😘
😑😶😐😮😯 " Gezz Crazyy." 😮😯😮😯😮😯😯😮😯😮😯😮
So sad everything upside down
It’s empty because it’s corona outside and it’s very dangerous to go outside.
très jolie---pas de pollution ^^
Great shots! This one really blew up for you, congrats. It's going to be so weird to look back on this. I am happy to join your team and wondering if you'll join mine as well.
I live in Ottawa
Normal saturday in Ottawa boring lol
Good for you. People are disciplined. Look at GTA area esp BRAMPTON!
Waterloo’s streets are packed, somehow
I live alone and I’m going insane!!!!!!!
No you are not going insane. How could you be, you are CANADIAN!!
Brenda Irwin
LOL!!!!!
There's a lot more people driving in the burbs.
Agreed. Almost as if nothing's happening; it's business as usual. Knuckleheads.
Well,I assume that those people in their cars are more than two metres from you and aren't coughing in your face, so don't worry about what they're doing. Government in some states are operating Orwellian snitch lines for people to rat out their neighbors for stepping outside. Don't be a rat.
was this filmed after 7pm on any day 😂 lol, jokes aside, great shots.
This is not what it looks like. People are still driving and roaming the streets. I'm stuck in traffic every morning still going to my essential service job.
What do you mean by "roaming the streets"?
@@gregd166 I may exaggerate when saying this but, I see people who seem like they haven't gone for a walk in 17 years, decide to get some fresh air in the middle of a pandemic.
I had no other choice to go to a branch for some banking and in line I heard a woman say "the line was twice as long yesterday when i came"... like how much banking do you need to do in a week?
Isn't it a good thing that chronically sedentary people are taking this opportunity to move their bodies? I see a lot more people going for walks these days as well. Considering that inactivity leads to a multitude of health problems and more deaths than this virus ever could, this public health lockdown may, ironically, make people more healthy. If nobody is invading your space or coughing in your face then why worry about it? As for the bank, perhaps the woman you overheard didn't do her banking the previous day because of the long line. Everyone in the line you were in had as much right to be in that line as you. Don't complain about the behaviour of others for behaviours you are engaging in yourself. Live and Let live.
@@gregd166 I thought like that about 3 weeks ago. I have mixed feeling about self isolation because of the fact I still work.
I count my stars that I still have a job and decent hours. I work in logistics and part of a chain that deliver to hospitals and exposed to the worst part of the virus. Although I have all required ppe and awareness, I am still putting myself and my family at risk. I didn't sign up for the military or take an oath to be a doctor, kinda grinds my gears a bit when I see people out'n'about when all that the health professionals are asking for are a few weeks of isolation.
FYI: I gave the old lady at the bank a extra clean unused mask I had before informing her of the recent data shown about the virus. Not judging, the lady in front of her had a sleep mask put over her mouth and was trying to justify why she was wearing it. They were talking amongst each other after I literally said that it was in all our best interest we reduce the amount of socializing, they just dont know... like it's fine bro, I don't really care that much. I just was bothered by the poor representation of the "empty" streets of Ottawa.
@Honzybear Is this a Mavic Air?
What model drone did you use for this?)
What model of drone?
Reminds me of 2008 2009 usa
This reminds me of Chernobyl...
Well, no it does not. Are you Canadian or not!! Go CANADA!!
