So I used to serve in the Australian Navy.
The destroyer I was on, made it's own distilled fresh water in the engine room.
But before anyone was allowed to drink it; a sailor had to drop a bucket on a rope over the side, and bring up a bucket of seawater and this was added to each 1000L of distilled water.
Otherwise if we continually drank pure distilled water, our internal organs would fail, and we would all die.

it doesn't dehydrate you. it washes out the minerals in your body. if you're drinking distilled water you need to be making sure you're adding something to it to not make it remove all the minerals from your body
