I heard "toss and turn I can't sleep at night" line in SOS and was llike, what song is that from? Only then did I realize the rising double beat of Tainted Love was embedded in the song, so came looking for this. I was wondering if the mashup was going to pivot from one to the other on that line.
me just realizing they sampled Tainted love after a binge of Rihanna music videos and had to listen to a mashup and wow this DELIVERED. I’ve loved both songs for so long so how i didn’t realize is crazy
Isn't it interesting how Soft Cell's electric sounds are perfectly fitting in a song two and a half decades later? This song _still_ sounds like it could have came out this year, so it's amazing that the sound is over _40 years old!!!_
60 years when you consider the soft cell version is a cover. People may call it copying but each of the 3 songs builds upon the idea in new and great ways, creativity isn't entirely limited by whether something is entirely original.
@@p.taylor981 Indeed. Creativity isn't limited to making something entirely yourself, it can also count for things that you work with that already exist. I don't call it copying either. Johnny Cash's cover of "hurt" is creative too.
I came to notice they also use similar lyrics (note the phrase "you give me toss and turn, I can't sleep at night") and they share the same message, basically meaning the obssesive and toxic side of a relationship.
I only recently realized that these songs shared a beat...I loved tainted love as a kid and I've known of sos since I was like 12. I'm 25 and I just recently noticed the sampling!
it literally says that in the description. the point of this wasn't that "omg rihanna sounds JUST like soft cell thats so crazy what a coincidence" it was "hey since the sos samples tainted love it'd be cool if i mashed the two songs"
that was a lotta fun. I feel there were some missed opportunities though. it was great hearing soft cell interjected and at time actually put on the forefront. but it was mostly Rihanna's song that was the framework. All this is great. Th missed opportunity would be to flip it for the second half and have Rihanna interject into tainted love for an equal duration. It would almost be like ballad to the 2 of them to each other.
Am I the only one that thinks that these two artists or groups should actually do both of these songs together and do a combination of the two for a concert or something? I think that would be really cool in my opinion I mean you never want to forget where the sample came from LOL
SOS came on the radio and I was like..... 🎵sometimes I feel I got to run away I got to🎵... I was singing it with it like.. oh my goodness it’s the same music
I looked this up hoping someone heard these two songs the same way I do and this Mashup is EXACTLY what I was looking from
I was kinda hoping to hear them both singing together at the same time kinda like the ending of this video

A beat and some of the lyrics
when i heard sos im like "'hey thats soft cell"", these beats are to close for comfort
I know Right I heard it on the radio on today
Another one is Shut Up and Drive & Blue Monday by New Order. I think she has sampled 80's songs a couple times.
A lot of beastie boys songs use audio samples
She sampled the beat
I thougt sos is a mix from tainted love and something else 😂
It like they're talking to each other. These two song really do go together.
This is crazy and relatable
The producer sampled it guys, does nobody know what a sample is anymore lol
It's not the point guys, does nobody know what a mashup is anymore lol

This slaps. The two songs really elevate eachother.
The SOS Rhianna X Tainted Love Mashup song should be put on BBC Radio Stations for everyone to listen to their favourite song
Anyone work on those BBC Radio Stations???? Well play the SOS Rhianna X Tainted Love Mashup song on the Radio
This mashup goes super perfectly well together!😄🤩😎👌
Feel like this is gonna end up on tik tok tbh
it did
I’m here from tik tok
It is😭😭
@@user-sh5vu2ki4d same

I love both versions but it’s weird how together Rihanna makes soft cell sound out of tune
It's cuz soft cell is pitched down into the same key, so it doesn't quite sound right
Soft Cell always sounded out of tune LOL Just like Young Hearts Commuter.... In the 80s you didn't need to be a great singer to release records LOL
That's because pitch correction started being used in 1997, her vocals are processed.
Made it sound sinister
@@filteringkpop AutoTune as a namebrand started in 1997. Pitch correction is FAR older

This melted my heart. What a piece of gold. Thank you , now I can sleep soundly at night. Please don't remove it.
Legend has it, Danny DeVito is dancing to this rn
The 12” version of tainted love mixes into The Supremes Burning Love.
the theme song of the managers fighting over the XM radio station at work
Tainted love came on the radio and I had to search if someone did this mashup! Love how it turned out!
And so it goes.............Gloria Jones 1964-Soft Cell 1982 -Rihanna 2006 (With a twist) Then head bangin mashup!!!! OH Yeah!!!!🎵🎶🎹😝🤘
Fun fact, this song isn’t even soft cells. It was actually like a much older song. I think it was sung by Gloria Jones.
