    But if they're willing to reveal some stuff about six or seventh generation fighter jets then that just leaves me to believe that they're already working on a 10th or a 12th generation fighter jet

      I've always shared that belief. There is a comment that the US hasn't developed the SR-72 yet. Fair enough. The point one should take away is that the US had deployed the SR-71 by late 1964. Think about that for a second.

      Put on that note I did just find out that the SR-72 is just a testing platform for engines.... The 6th or 7th generation air superiority plane is a little bit different still hypersonic. And Lockheed Martin and skunk works has developed the SR-71 long before 1964 that was just the year they officially claimed it..

      @@rickschmidt8222 SR-71 was test flying in the mid 50s.. it just wasnt made public for 15+ years after it started being worked on. In fact I don't even know if it was public back then or just that some people saw it flying?

    I live right next to HillAFB in northern Utah and we see the F35 fly daily. About a week ago we saw a stealth jet we’ve never seen before. It actually stopped and was hovering for some time, and then took off faster than anything I’ve ever seen before. It was pretty crazy, I wondered if the AFB was working on something new, sounds like they probably were.

    How do you show an F-14 Tomcat as a 2nd generation fighter?! It replaced the F-4. The F-14 was a 4th generation fighter.

    No doubt a game changer! Only the US can afford to build such a jet. I think even the best Russian jet until now from the SU family would have a big problem. Not to forget the best electronics in the jet. The US have much secret jets like the Manta that will intimidate together even Chinese and not only Russia!

    actually, we have 3rd Gen (F-4, Su-24, F-1,... (Any Supersonic turbojet powered fighter with Air to Air radar & radar guided weapons) 4th Gen(F-14A, F-15C, MiG-29A, Su-27 (Fighters with Turbofan engines)) 4th+ Gen (Su-30, F/A-18 Super Hornet(HOTAS, Helmet mounted HUD, PESA Radars, IRST, Fly by wire, Advanced INS/GPS & Data Link), 4th++ Gen (Any 4+ Gen fighter equipped with AESA radar from the Typhon to J-10C....) & 4.5 Gen (Any 4++ Gen with some stealth features or TVC) & 5th Gen.

    I am always surprised that reviewers forget to mention that lasers are line-of-sight platforms. Awesome in the line-of-sight realm, yet inferior to over the horizon long range missile systems.

    Let see if the process of testing this 7th generation fighter will not exceed time of mass production 8th generation fighters in Russia and China. There in USA are hyper sonic missiles still in testing process while Russia and China have mass production of them.

      Lasers travel at 3x10^8 m/s meaning that light can circle the earth 7 times per seconds.

    They are trying to develop the 6th and 7th and future generation with conventional methods which do not work in those futuristic needs. They need to develop methods that are adaptable to future generations. maybe, creating a bubble around the jet and probably anti-gravitational force would make obsolete the current metallic skin of the plane. Bubble and anti-gravitational force could be the concepts of the future.

      No. They already finally admitted to designing, building and testing the NGAD in a year. And that was 2-3 years ago. Which means they got the experience and knowledge to probably progress and reduce the process from design to test flight in even less time by now. 🤷‍♂️

      120 years ago human flight is just a dream until the Wright brothers turn it to reality. 60 years ago Mach 3+ speed was only a dream until the S71 Blackbird made it happen. I believed 7th gen tech is achievable given that the US invests significantly more in research and development of high-tech weapons than its competitors.
