I love your idea of showing the differences between countries and people because I think that differences should be celebrated. It’s what makes life interesting.
My parents are ages 92 and 95. This is the first time since they’ve been married (66 years) that they have not had family at their home for Christmas. Maybe, just perhaps they enjoyed a quiet day for once. They wouldn’t admit it, though! Dad hauled up the Christmas tree from the basement and decorated it just for the two of them. Sweet, sweet people.
Well can’t tell you how much we appreciate I’m an old woman and cannot travel and you have taken me to some of the most beautiful places I saw appreciate all the time and effort you put in to this channel you are truly a very fortunate blessing especially this year 2020 it’s so wonderful to know that there is a good couple out there sharing their time

Dont worry about answering every comment...your viewers understand...keep time for each other, that is what your viewers love to see...your loving interactions and making memories together! I love to hear and see Germany too and you dont have to choose between English or German styles or tastes...you do great blending of likes from each loving ideas, traditions, new foods and traditional recipes etc. It makes for a "real" home with unique styles and traditions. I love that! I would like to see German thrift stores and tearooms as well as English ones. You can be Germans and have love of your own country and heritage, but you can pick and choose what to love in your host countries too. Cute, cozy or beautiful doesnt just exist in one spot of the world...it is to be enjoyed whenever it is discovered! Happy New Year...Love your videos!

Being British, raised in Surrey but living in USA now, your videos take me back home and to the idyllic childhood I so loved growing up in UK. You're calmness is refreshing, you are both so peaceful and calm, I appreciate that.

I would play in the park at the end of my garden, walk to school etc etc...it was a lovely childhood, even though our house was often frigid cold! Mum and Dad had friends in Thames Ditton and their house was so big compared to our little terrace house.
Me too, born and raised in York, emigrated to Australia when I was 19 in 1966 with my parents and siblings, but I realised a few years ago, that i miss England oh so much that I want to return. Wife and I have visited the UK three times and each time I think to myself, why on earth did I leave. I know why, it was for an adventure and now I'm ready to go back home.

Despite all the restrictions: I feel very priviledged due to a roof above my head, a warm bed to sleep in, clean and fresh water, food which I can buy and eat, freedom to walk on safe and peaceful streets. This makes me feel rich and blessed. Especially with a refugee centre in the direct neighbourhod. I wish you a very happy and healthy New Year. That puff pastry Christmas tree looks so nice.

During the first pandemic I was stuck in India. To see how the people and animals suffer there was really bad. Then you indeed realize how blessed we are to live in a western country, like you pointed out. Happy to hear all your future travel plans! And a such a nice idea to show us small brands! Growing up in a small Midwestern town of primarily Bavarian/Luxembourg descent, I took for granted that everyone would 1. Buy quality items & maintain them well for decades, 2. Take their time to do projects the best they could, 3. Keep an attractive, clean home & garden, & lastly, 4. take pride in a job well done. It wasn’t until I moved away I realized this was the German way, perhaps. Another reason for my affinity to your channel. Plus...that love for English decorating & clothing!

This holiday season has been pretty isolating and difficult for my husband and me, for a variety of reasons. We have been trying to make the best of it, albeit not very successfully. I enjoy your trips to country houses and gardens and watching you decorate your home. It would be lovely to see British makers as they need all the promotion they can get. Too much is imported into the UK. I think the pandemic has made the whole world appreciate what we have a lot more and to stop complaining. I spent a great deal of time on Christmas day thinking about the families who had lost their loved ones and friends in 2020. It made me sad but also to appreciate how lucky I am too. I live alone but luckily never feel lonely. Wishing you both best wishes for 2021.

Yes we’d love for you to introduce us to country folk who are meeting their needs by selling their handiwork, produce and wares. That is called a “human interest” story which will have an added encouraging uplift. Your shows on RUclips have been very interesting through this year. It has given up opportunity to see cute villages, gardens and estates that we’ll probably never have the opportunity to see!

I agree with you both. Too many people have focused on having the big expensive Christmas with family which many find very stressful and frankly horrendous and they end up in terrible debt. The true meaning of Christmas ends up swallowed up under tons of expensive unwanted or unneeded gifts and huge waste of uneaten food.
I think it’s been good for us to have a quieter pared back Christmas even though it’s been heartbreaking to not see loved ones.
It breaks my heart to see how selfish so many people are especially during this pandemic. Thankfully there are also many people who have done amazing things to help others including yourselves. Sharing your life’s and thoughts has been uplifting and it’s lovely to see England from your point of view! When you live somewhere it’s easy to take it for granted and not visit places on your doorstep, so thank you for that too.

We didn't buy anything else than what we showed in our gift guides and on Christmas Eve we exchanged cards and nothing more. I couldent get to see my lovley sister at Christmas as she is in Wales so spent it alone but we spent lots of time chatting and at one point my neighbour and i chatted over the garden fence with a gin and tonic she is 87 and alone but it was special.how right you are Joerg about people we just dont realy know how nice they can be from all walks of life.we are very blessed for the life we have and i think this past year has made a lot of people reflect on that. I for one have loved your company all year and look forward to seeing much more and yes to seeing more of Germany when you are able to go its a beautifull place.take care of yourselves.

I was alone on Christmas, fixed a big dinner which I shared with my son who came in his mask and took a carry out. It wasn't sad, it wasn't lonely, it was the sensible thing my family and I had decided together. We will also miss our joint birthdays the end of January. I hope our county receives vaccine soon. I live in Mississippi, USA. I have never gotten the impression you wanted to be British! I do love the English quirky style and country interiors which is what brought me to your channel. Ideas??? Everything you have said! Kirsten and Joerg, your channel has given me a "different" perspective of Germany! You two are so precious. You have embraced your adopted homeland and made it your own, while not forgetting your roots! Other ideas: more antique shopping (my favorite), what is Germany know for/customs (food, vehicles, etc...), some basic words in German while you are out on your walks, and mostly...preparing some of your favorite German dishes. I am quite surprise that your channel is mostly English speaking. Have a "Happy New Year" and let's think positive about 2021, I know I am! Bye. Arrivederci, Adios!

We isolated this year; the first year our two grown kids haven't come home to Florida for Christmas. They are isolating up north as we are here. Staying safe. Still we realize, as you do, how blessed we are. Nobody in the family has so far caught COVID, and we are all taking care to wear masks, wash hands, wipe down groceries, and so on. I attended worship at my home church on Zoom here in Florida, and even had a candle ready for the lighting of candles and singing of Silent Night. You know, when I was a girl growing up in PA, we had some German members, or also people who spoke PA German, which is sort of a low German, and they sang several verses of Silent Night in German. You could have heard a pin drop. That's a wonderful Christmas memory. We had my homemade stollen for Christmas but didn't bother with a turkey since we'd had one for Thanksgiving and the kids weren't home either holiday. Next year will be a much happier Christmas. It is nice to see you two so bright eyed and happy. I am sorry you could not see family for Christmas, but you can look forward to next year like we are. You are so thoughtful and I have enjoyed your videos so much this past year. Thank you and may your new year be healthy, happy and bright.
I look forward to your Cornwall trip, because if it works out for us to travel again in 2021, Cornwall is on our agenda! I think featuring small, unique makers would be very interesting. I'm from California and we have been hit very hard with covid; due to this, I have been in isolation since last March. I was so lucky to have found your channel as it is so very uplifting. During this time, I also found through a DNA site that I am almost 40% German and from Baden where Jorge's home was. It is wonderful to have this in common. I'm over a year late for this video but your idea of visiting small businesses is near and dear to my heart. We lost some of my very favourite ones here due to the lockdowns. Small businesses are the heart of communities and I would so love to see some of the ones from the UK that you would be able to share. Yes, the internet has been such a blessing and one is the finding of your sweet channel.

Hi Kirsten and Joerg, all the things you suggested would be perfect for 2021, plus more of what you did this year. The West Country is my favourite part of the UK, so that would be particularly good. You are so right about appreciating what we have - I was alone this Christmas, because of Covid, but had lovely food and drink, music and plenty of books and was perfectly happy. The small things are all we need right now.

I am german living in California and I am working in Maryland right now. My husband and daughter are staying in Germany, one daughter in Southern California and one son in New Jersey. I am a total family mensch.
But I was surprised that I was doing so well being alone on Heiligabend. Thanks to video calls.
I told myself I am grateful and can do whatever I want.

The first of your videos I watched was "Our fairytale cottage in Devon". I enjoyed the tour of the cottage and the places you went that day. After seeing other videos, I should like to visit England although I most likely won't be able to. I'm excited to see what you guys have done with the attic room. Also, I like your idea about visiting small business owners. Featuring them would not only be interesting, but would also be good for their business by giving them that exposure. I'm glad you two had a wonderful Christmas. My husband and I did as well. See you soon.
My sister lost her son on December 12 about ten years ago. At the age of 18. So even families have lost loved ones as well. So this keeps it real and to be thankful for the little things in life❤🎄❤

Thank you for providing the best laugh we had this Christmas. Allow me to explain ;; Sophie and I visited my parents on Christmas morning and as we were going to be alone in the evening, we had decided to watch some of your past video's. To 'hurry up' our goodbye's at my mums, I said, ''C'mon Sophie, we need to get back for our German friends''. Mum thought it was wonderful that we had friends traveling from Germany to come and stay with us. ''Are they staying for the New Year ? We'll have to meet them'' she said. ''What are their names'' ? ''Kirsten and Joerg'', I replied. It then took me longer to explain the facts than it did the conversation we'd had !! Much love to you both. Happy traveling and we wish you a Happy New year. D+S xxx

My husband and I have so enjoyed your videos this year. They are such an escape from all of the bad news and chaos out there in the world, and so calming to the spirit. And like you we consider ourselves quite fortunate that we have managed so well this year. I have given thanks on more than one occasion for the roof over our heads that does not leak, food in the cupboards and good health. All the best to you and your viewers for a happy and healthy 2021!

When I count what has been good about 2020 finding your channel is on my list. I recently moved back to America after living 20 minutes from the Lake District for 2 years. It touched my heart and gave me so many wonderful memories. Like you, I love to travel all over the English countryside. I think seeing Germany would be wonderful and also seeing small unique businesses would be nice. Happy New Year looking forward to seeing your attic room.

His mother was born in England and we wanted to go see all the places she lived. The Covid stopped us in our tracks. We will be married 50 years this Jan. and we thought this would be our dream trip.
