Big was filmed between the states of New York and New Jersey. The neighbourhood where he and his friend were singing the song was done in Jersey, everything else was in NY. Really enjoyed seeing the houses especially the ET one. Use to be a fave of mine when I was a kid.
Did you know that from the back of universal in l.a.you can walk down a little hill near the multi storied car park and you can get a metro all the way to Santa Monica and the main areas of l.a.and it only sets you back about 5 dollars a day for a travel ticket
Omg my boyfriend lives about 2 miles from the Gamble House! So funny you guys were right near us! Yah the Gamble House is now a museum dedicated to one of the finest examples of California Craftsman architecture and design. You should have stayed in Pasadena longer as there were other houses from the film there such as George McFly’s house and Marty’s mother’s house, and the street where Marty hits his head when he fell from the tree. Another movie filmed there was the original Halloween. In fact my boyfriend works as a barista in a cafe directly across the street from Michael Myers’ house!
OMG! You guys visited all the movies of my childhood. I loved E.T and Poltergeist. E. T makes me cry to this day and that clown from Poltergeist is nightmare fuel.

Doc Browns house was built by the Proctor family, the founders of Proctor and Gamble Co... It was designed by the architectural firm of Green and Greene. it is a craftsman style home. Very popular style on the west coast.
When I visited LA 30 years ago, somebody pointed out to me the shopping mall where they filmed the “Back to the Future” scenes, and it basically just looked like a regular shopping mall. It was fun to see you seeking out all of these locations, most of which were probably just exteriors in the films. And I also looked up the Gamble House, which is apparently well known because it important architecturally as a classic craftsman-style house.
Leigh you are awesome. Love that you got Karate Kid so instantly. After Nick said you’d never get it. LOL. Also, you went straight through a stop sign at 20:21! LOL.
I'm not sure if you know this already, but the Grand Californian is themed after the Arts and Crafts movement in California....like the Back to the Future house :)
We stayed at the Loews hotel Santa Monica when we went to LA. The hotel is amazing (well was it was over 10 years ago)! You’ve made me want to go back... maybe next trip after Florida!!

Did question the zoltar as I wondered how he got to the piano in the New York toy shop, which I’ve been on and it’s good fun!

I did the driving tour to all of these locations before I left L.A. four or five years ago (grew up there). Good fun. Just for info: The piece of Doc's house next to the Burger King was a facade built for the film - that building never actually existed there.. Heather O'Rourke was the little girl in POLTERGEIST who died. And the older sister from the first film who was strangled by her boyfriend was Dominique Dunne. Craig T. Nelson was the dad (still alive and well) and most recently performed as the voice of Mr. Incredible in INCREDIBLES 2 (and the first one, of course).
I just recently discovered your blog and I am enjoying them immensely.🤩 BTW I just looked up the Cliff’s Edge restaurant and they have become a victim of the pandemic and permanently closed their doors last fall. 🙁

They do some strange edits on the UK versions of movies. In the American versions, E.T. ate Reese’s Pieces not Skittles, and Tom Hanks wished to be older in Big, not younger. 😊
This was great fun! Bit surreal to see people living in the Poltergeist house! Just a random question guys but do you know if you need at least six months on your passport to go to the US from the UK? I didn’t think so but someone else said you did in their vlog so now I’m confused xx
