  • In this video we examine the effects of adding an emitter resistance to the AC equivalent model for the common emitter amplifier. This is called emitter feedback. We find that this AC equivalent resistance reduces gain while increasing input resistance. Partial emitter bypassing, which is used to recover gain while maintaining Q-point stability is also presented.

    HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE VALUE FOR THE SWAMPING RESISTOR RE1?

      To linearize the gain Re1 >= re will work. The bigger Re1 the more linear gain will be and also increase Rin but will reduce Av. It’s a trade off.
