Oh....my GOD!!! That was hilarious! I just looked up "true beauty" and I honestly thought this video was legitimate. I was like "How could Dove honestly use such a failed experiment? How embarrassing!" I practically died of laughter when I realized (towards the Nobel peace prize comment) that it wasn't real...great job. I'm never going to get over this. I haven't laughed this hard in ages.
Dove's adds are beautiful they make women feel better about themselves and they come in contrast with all those other adds that objectify women and present them with super slim body, extra long legs, flat stomach and huge breasts. It is comforting watching their adds because they show young girls at the age of 15 that they are beautiful and that they don't need a nose job or liposuction. They point out the unrealistic models of beauty as we all should do and make the 99% of girls and women who don't look like photoshopped models feel pretty. And that believe me deserves an award or at least recognition and support.
I used to think that I was ugly but then I read a re-posted image macro on facebook that had a picture of a cat and it said "we're all beautiful -Oprah" and so now I don't because it only takes the bare minimum of pretend effort to actually fix deep underlying emotional problems that cause people to have self-esteem issues. #TRUEBEAUTY
This made me want to go watch the actual thing to see what it was all about but then I saw the real thing is 6 minutes and decided I'd rather sleep an extra 6 minutes than give it to sickly nonsense. Good parody though.
I don't know if science can explicate the notion. Religion, neither. It's my belief that the question will remain. Forever. And so I will pull on my boots, spray my underarms and wonder: Why are women so gosh darn pretty? But enough about that, because I have a sunset to walk towards and gravel to grind.
