Hi there: 1) The bag has definitely lasted this long and in good condition. I don't baby it at all. The only thing is that the "I" on my Charles & Keith hardware has fallen off. 2) It could probably fit a 16" laptop comfortably, but you can definitely fit a bigger laptop as well... + all the things you mentioned. But the bag has weight, so you might need to take into consideration that the bag will weigh down a lot.
