This might also be a cool opportunity to collab with Canadian van lifers (like Eamon & Bec based out of Kingston). They're possibly moving to TO so it might be nice to work with them on bringing their outdoorsy style to city life too!

Definitely need to reach out to Eamon and Bec. They are two of my favorite RUclipsrs and now former van lifers.
And talk to @FunForLouis (who Eamon and Bec are friends with) about his conversion of his VW bus to an Electric Vehicle. If you want more fuel efficient, that’s the way to go!
Honestly, I’m just excited to have more videos with Austin in them! I’ve loved seeing him come out of his video-shell and be featured more recently. He brings such a lighthearted and funny energy to the videos!

The engine won’t be original, neither does the color. I can see that van/ bus being a dark teal to royal blue flake transition.
Hi Becky! I think the name for the series could be "That 70's van" to recall the other one. That's a vibe! I love the color as it is, but I've seen a similar one that has the base brown and two stripes orange and white...amazing! As for RUclips videos, I suggest for inspiration hannahleeduggan who renovate herself her van! =)

If I've seen any huge tip for these is to put in rotating seats in the front! Also Eamon and Bec! They aren't doing van life anymore, but they've converted 2. And they're in Canada.

Max and Occy and Eamon and Bec are both great people to hit up for van build info. Max put a full functioning shower in his and also has a dog that traveled with him. Also Max has a link to some stick on flexible solar panels that you could put on the roof. Driving stick shift is not hard! Just practice in a parking lot.
I think for color it would be so fun to do a retro colored stripe made of of like three colors with like a small swoosh so it's not just a straight line. AND/or name the van and paint the name on the outside in a 70s font - SO fun. Maybe also look up all the colors this van originally came in and pick your favorite and then customize it from there!
Secretly it would be so fun to do like bright lime green or something, but the current colors really match your vibe too.

Googled "van puns" and someone wrote "Van Halen" (a name suggestion for the van) as a van name in a Reddit post. Van Halen have a song called "Finish What Ya Started", which could be a good name for the series - the lyrics could (with a little fantasy) be about fixing a van. 😉 Love the existing colour, also love the suggestion in another comment about stripes. And definately a bed for Danny! 🥰

Stoked for you guys and for more content with Austin! Good for you, Becky, learning stick and getting stoked about body work-it is a lot of work and bondo dust but you’ll be all the more proud of knowing every curve of that thing. It could also be cool to look into converting it to electric since its current state leaves a lot of areas accessible. Eamon and Beck seem like an obvious choice as far as RUclipsrs go. I converted a cargo van and have been living in it full time for the last four years after doing the weekend-warrior style primitive vanning for almost a decade so if you need any recommendations, call it out! Best of luck on your new adventure and do be prepared for a swear word or two🤘

Amen to Austin about the cuss words! Working on cars is a whole another level but amazing skill set to have. Husband worked on a camero, rebuilt his 92 firebird as his first car and then our 03 mustang.

Soooooo excited for this project!! I vote yellow for the colour! Bold choice, but a deep warm (almost mustard) yellow would make such a statement while feeling authentic to its original era.

The series should be called the transponder transformation. I love the colour that it already is, and of course Danny needs a dog bed.

Really enjoy the content of Eva Zu Beck and think she'd have great advice and input as a van lifer living in a country she isnt from.
I think it would be great to collaborate with Trent and Allie. They restored 2 vans, a travel trailer and have a van conversion business. They have lots of good ideas, skills and resources. And they do beautiful work on these vans.

I know this might sound crazy, but canary yellow with white trim could look amazing. And it's a little less expected than orange (which I also like). Very excited for this series, and love seeing Austin on screen. You could call the series 'The VDub Chronicals'?

Not sure how many people have put Subaru motors in an air cooled bus. Problem is with a radiator being fitted, most do motor swaps with the vanagon which was water cooled. Vw’s are slow keep the stock motor and you will save fabrication time. When done right the air cooled motor will last, make sure all cooling tin is in place. Do you have all the camping cabinets from westfalia? Parts will be easy to get for most things. A Weber carburetor conversion will make tuning easier than the dual carbs. Good luck with the project they can be fun or utter nightmares.

also ! The Endless Adventure is great, they have very good vibes and a lot of knowledge on building anything, especially van/bus related.
Speaking from experience, you don't need to buy a whole other vehicle to snake the engine from it. I grew up in a mechanic's household with a family auto repair shop. We specialize in rebuilt engines and high performance, but we're also eight hours north of you, so we won't be able to help hands-on. I'd suggest finding a repair shop that you trust, preferably one that rebuilds engines. They can help with suggestions of what you're looking for and can help scour scrap yards for something you can use. 😊

I vote avocado green! (Like the inside of an avocado!) That shade of green is so very on vibe with the 70s! You could call the series something playing off the current popular slang term "bussin"- Like "It's Bussin'" or "Bussin' with Becky and Austin". Can't wait to see this project come along, its a dream of mine too! I believe in you guys!!!!
Here in Australia we call that a Kombi van, because the indicators are down near the bumper it is called a lowlight model, the ‘secret storage’ area in the door is a vent, the louvred windows are quite rare, and the engine should be accessible through a hatch from the top as well.

Vanwives are in canada, they still do the van life, but are also renovating and building an off grid paradise.. Curiosity Incorporated is another channel, he lives in canada too.. He restores old cars, and has an old camper van too, also he often buys homes full of retro furniture.. He's into antiques and all sorts of things.. great guy and family too! Def check these out!

Yah I’d say they are the best fit for a collab. They have a vintage RV and they understand the headache of it. Vanwifes also have a little more retro taste. Eamon & Beck did sprinters, totally different game.

I think restoring it to as much of the original finishes as possible would do the bus the most justice.
