Just started playing "Deathloop" and yeah - the soundtrack ( as well as the art direction and atmosphere) is amazing. Even at the main menu i was impressed how sleek & slightly haunting the music was
Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY refuses to believe Deathloop is a good game until they play it. Everyone goes, "It's a bland FPS I learned that from trailers and reviews!!!1" *cough cough* ign 10/10 (the list goes on and on) *cough cough.* Everyone refuses to even give it a try. They don't understand how immersive it is. Personally, the trailers don't even do it justice. Even through describing, nobody wants to give it a chance and only infers it's a bad game. I was the same way too! Wish my friends weren't.
@@snartle to be fair though...Bethesda overdid it with the trailers. It got to a point where i was bored out of my mind when i saw there is another Deathloop trailer with pretty much the same footage and dialogue bits. But i consider this only a marketing fail , not of the game's qualities.
@@Kotka1986 honestly this. i wouldn’t have tried it if it weren’t for my brother who let me use his PC for a little demo. the trailers aren’t varied enough for me to spend 60 USD. maybe the trailers are feeding into the “loop” mechanic lol
It was a special moment for me after defeating Julianna for the first time. After mission ended, Colt was waving towards Julianna and this very nice piece of music art was in the backround. I listened it many times. Perfect song for that moment.
I had theory about those three notes playing differently four times in a row and repeating through the whole theme. They might symbolize morning, noon, afternoon and evening, like it's same part of theme, repeated many times like the loop itself. As Colt progresses music does it too, while notes do remain same, each time everything else becomes louder, has more instruments and overall becomes more epic the closer it is to finale. And right before that at 2:12 vocal starts, it's theme of Juliana, because she's key part of the loop and she inevitably stays in the way, always. Not long after vocal silences theme ends. Noticeably in the end notes play out only two times. Music stops as well as clock ticking. Loop was broken.
There is a lot of bombastic, 60s and 70s esque music in the soundtrack. It helps set the mood, especially in the midst of combat. But this is definitely the dishonored music in the soundtrack. It’s haunting and enigmatic, like blackreef and the void. It’s perfect for the menu music. Because while the more period piece music sets the tone for moment to Monet gameplay, this perfect sets the tone for the game as a whole.
Really enjoyed this game more than I thought I would, I was looking forward to it but not crazy hyped. Definitely one of my top 5 for 2021.. really like the soundtrack too.
I'm seeing quite a few people hate on deathloop and I never understood why, the game is phenomenal, the art is amazing, the atmosphere is unique, the concept is fun and the music is amazing, it's in my top 5 games of all time
Finally noticed the major reference, _Batman Begins Ending Theme starting at __0:45__._ (To be clear, all art is derivative of _something,_ and I'm 100% okay with the absolute grand slam of this game's soundtrack that riffs on and absolutely improves upon Hans Zimmer's work. Honestly I'd love for _more_ soundtracks of games/movies/whatever to use this style of chord progression as it's amazing.) Honestly I'd also love a Deathloop sequel that learns from the first game's sort of awkward PVE/PVP model. (Also it's entirely possible the chord progression similarity was pure coincidence, as that sort of thing does happen sometimes. Like when a concept artist friend believed he had a cool unique design for a game I worked on, but then I showed him images of Kroxigors from Warhammer Fantasy (bipedal crocodile people). Still a cool design both times it was designed, but everything's been done before basically.)
There are a lot of similarities in the final OST with the references from rock, pop and TV shows of the time, but they are usually more similar in the vibe rather than in tunes or progression. Tom Salta in an interview even broke down some of the influences in detail and you could clearly see the similarities.
I haven't played this game, but I've heard this and I've wanted to hear it in full. It's great. (EDIT again as of 9/27/22 lol: I have played it on Xbox now. It's cool so far. Haven't played a ton of it yet though.)
The game was okay, but not the masterpiece I was expecting from Arkane after Prey and Dishonored, however the ambiance, art direction and the music were still very memorable. This is one of the catchiest video game themes I've heard in the last few years.
I beat this game in 2 weeks then sold it right after. This theme has given me nostalgia now. I’ll probably buy it used and play it again at some point. I just really wish the endings had more closure and weren’t so anticlimactic.

@@blax140 I thought they ended quite well. Those Dishonored duelling pistols and the weird sky definitely made me hopeful for a sequel of something.
I’d say the game is closer to a 7.5/10, but still alright.
